Weekend Caption Contest™ Winners

This weeks Weekend Caption Contest™ was a grand slam, even if it did run a day earlier than normal. Given the server move this weekend, that scheduling faux pax turned out to be most beneficial, as most entries were in before Friday night. The assignment this week was to caption the following picture:

Saudi Arabia first baseman 6 feet 8 inch Aaron Durley, left, watches a pitch as Venezuela's 4 feet 8 inch base runner Ermison Arellano gets ready to take a lead during the fourth inning in their game of the Little League World Series baseball pool play in South Williamsport, Pa., Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006. Here are the winning entries:

1) (Rodney Dill) - "Mongo like candy."

2) (Scotty) - "David vs. Balco-goliath"

3) (yetanotherjohn) - "While only having a birthday once every four years sucked, Jimmy found there were consolations to being born on a leap day."

Honorable Mention

4) (OLDPUPPYMAX) - "Oh man. Was that the 'steal second' or the 'bite him in the nuts and try for third' sign?"

5) (914) - "Fee fi fo fum, I see the results of steroids and gum."

6) (Jody) - "In his attempt to emulate Jordan, Shaq misunderstood what was meant by playing in the minor leagues."

The Long And Short Of It Award goes to:

(reno) - "And that's why the infield hasn't committed a single throwing error all season long..."

Until next Friday...

I might believe that kid is... (Below threshold)
Wickedpinto:

I might believe that kid is actually a kid, but note, he's still lost, and he's only hit one homer.

I was a midget in little league, I wasn't over 5'2" until my sophmore year, and my biggest growth spurt was between my junior and senior year, and that kid is still taller than me right now.

If I had his girth back then? I would have hit the ball so hard, it wouldn't even have been a home run, it would have warped around the bat until it because a white and red threaded "C" shaped object attached to the bat.

Also, these kinds kids are every reason kids should be playing with wood bats.

"Mongo like candy." is my second all-time favorite caption, just barely behind "Fjord!" for the golfer in the arctic tundra.

Mel Brooks is hard to beat as a source of humor.
'Frau Blucher' is another one that works over and over again.
