At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, pretty much every year a group of students pull off a "hack" -- a prank where they put something atop the school's 15-foot-high Great Dome. They once turned it into a giant beanie and propellor. They once put up a replica of a campus police car, complete with flashing lights and a box of donuts on the dash. It's all done in good fun; the pranksters include detailed instructions on how they assembed the item and how to best dismantle it; the school takes it down and doesn't look for who put it up there.
This year, the nerds and geeks at MIT chose a rather fitting symbol to hoist high in the air on Monday...
(Correction: 150-foot dome. Sandy Berger stuffed my zero down his pants...)
