First we hear that we just may have House Majority Leader John Murtha. Now there's word that Patrick "Leaky" Leahy wants to ensure that terrorists detained at Gitmo have full Habeas Corpus rights:
WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- A battle is shaping up between Democrats and the White House over the Military Commissions Act, signed into law last month by President George W. Bush.
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., is expected to take over as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and The (Calif.) Daily Journal reports that Leahy is drafting a bill to undo portions of the new law in an effort to restore habeas corpus rights for enemy combatants.A spokeswoman for Leahy told the newspaper the bill would be intended to repeal portions of the law that prevent some detainees from pursuing federal court challenges to the government's authority to hold them indefinitely.
Spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler told the newspaper the goal is to "try and do something to reverse the damage."
Scott L. Silliman, Director of the Center for Law, Ethics and National Security at Duke University School of Law, told the newspaper an attempt to amend the law could set up a partisan showdown in Congress, and possibly a presidential veto.
Civil rights attorneys filed a constitutional challenge to the act after Bush signed it Oct. 17, the Journal said.
Yep, that's the Democrats for ya. They're the party for terrorists rights.

Not one person should be surprised here. Well except for some swing voting moderates who are going to feel duped pretty soon.

I suggest new bumper stickers that remind me of the ones that came out right after Clinton was elected and people had regrets:

Jumpinjoe: I will have a bumper sticker: 'I did not vote for the cut and run cowards'. Anyone want to make something out of it we'll see how brave they are when faced with an old man that will shoot their a** if they threaten me.

What are you all gonna say when it comes out that hundreds maybe thousands of people were swept up in raids in Afghanistan by the Northern Alliance and brought to the U.S. Military for a reward on the claimed basis they were "enemy combatants" while in fact they were innocent civilians held against their will for 3-4 years?
So far as I know of the 700 Gitmo detainees only 10 have been charged with anything. The denial of Habeas to these prisoners is not to protect us from terrorism so much as to protect Bush from huge embarrassment if not war crimes.
Democrats are not protecting terrorist we are protecting the Constitution. Something you all will toss in the lake because your leaders said, BOOO! Pitiful...we got subpoena power now....Mr. Bush and Cheney get to now answer questions.

Many know they will be committing political suicide if they support such crap. There's a little internal conflict between the sane and the insane coming for the Democratic Party. It may take the first serious vote on a moonbat issue to force them to pick sides, but I think it could happen sooner.

When is President Bush going to declare martial law so we can track down and shoot the trairors? The super rich Holywood wonks predicted it would happen.
I love this election. It has shortened the life span of America by hundreds of years. We only have two years to go before total destruction.
New motto for the American Flag. "These colors don't run except when carried by a dim", and then they follow their 'cut and run' history and drag the flag through the slime and mud with them.

The Constitution of the United States does not apply to Terrorists or anyone else captured in combat. Even no citizens in the U.S. are covered by imigration laws, not the constitution which applies to citizens IAW the 14th amendment.
Terrorists are covered in the Geneva convention, they are allowed to be tried and shot on the spot since they wear no uniforms.
Enemy in uniform are to be held until the war is over, which could be 20 years but under the dim's it will be 20 minutes before they surrender, again.
Allowing 5-6 million Iraqi citizens to be slaughtered doesn't seem to bother a dim as long as they (dim's)get their welfare check on time.
