College Graduate Jobs and Pay Outlooks Stronger This Year
More than a million college seniors are preparing to enter the real world this spring - and their prospects are remarkably good. The number of new college graduates hired by U.S. companies will be 17.4 percent larger this year than a year ago, says a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
Go figure.
Topping [the] list is Las Vegas, according to a new Bizjournals study that identifies the 10 metropolitan areas where job opportunities are strongest for young adults.
Duh. Las Vegas is like a live-action infomercial for capitalism.
Plus it goes without saying there virtually are no traces of leftism as public policy in Las Vegas. In addition Nevada politically has been operated in a conservative fashion for more than a decade.
Employers are on the lookout this year for graduates holding the following bachelor's degrees. They are listed in order of anticipated demand:1. Accounting.
2. Business administration and management.
3. Computer science.
4. Electrical engineering.
5. Mechanical engineering.
6. Information sciences and systems.
7. Marketing and marketing management.
8. Computer engineering.
9. Civil engineering.
10. Economics and finance.
Hmm.
But there's good news for liberal arts students too:
Starbucks will be adding thousands of new locations over the next few years, and there will be a real need for mocha and latte makers.
Mmm, Starbucks.

The younger vote skewed strongly towards the Democratic Party in the '06 election, and I expect and even stronger move towards blue for the '08 election.
It won't matter whether they are PhDs, JDs, MDs, or SBs (Starbuck Barristas) - the majority will be voting Democratic and running the Republican Clowns out of the White House.
Huzzah!

Love the Starbucks dig. We have a liberal arts college on the verge of going bankrupt. Think someone has figured out they only turn out educated burger flippers?

Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. It's no wonder there are more job placements available there.
And what does politics have with a liberal arts degree. It's the same as basket weaving, some of the sports people take it as it doesn't require a whole bunch of Grey matter to obtain the degree.

Hmmm... looks like my degree (History, with a minor [ran out of money before I could finish the major] in Political Studies) didn't make the cut. But since I'm not even working in my field (I'm a banker at the moment), I'm not too worried.

What do you expect, after the past 6 years of democrats molesting the minds of children in the classroom , in the playground and heck they will probably molest their minds while still in the womb till their 18. Say anything and doing whatever it takes is their motto. That's more kids are becoming more dunb and not even coming close to graduate. Juat make it an 8th grade level = 12 grade graduate. They are qualified Dummycrats and don't have to do a thing for the rest of their lives except vote dumbasscrat. Free drugs ,condomns and abortions for all and to all a good night. The Democrat Dream , just don't think and you got it. The american Dream is for Americans , sorry democrats do not qualify.

Yes Lee, in the last Presidential election, which usually gets the most people to vote, unlike the last election, 62,000,000 voted for Bush. If Hillary runs, the Republican candidate will recieve 70,000,000 votes and 300 EC votes.

I agree that it's probably the lack of "leftism" that has made Vegas rock for so many years. And that's a good thing.
But it's a bit of a stretch to call the government there conservative, at least by modern definitions.
Gambling, drinking to excess, over eating, legalized prostitution (nearby, at least), excess and debauchery, and boobies, boobies, boobies every where!
I love it. But that's old school Republicanism. Minimum government intervention every where you look.
The genius of Reagan is that he opened up the traditional libertarian, minimal government Republicanism to the religious, more socially conservative types. It worked.
But IMO, the party eventually went too far down the social conservative path, and started to try to impose their own will on the people.
Now the billion dollar question is, can the party go back to its 80's hey days?
The farther left the Dems go, the easier it becomes.
Interesting times, indeed.

Don't count the votes before they are fraudulated. A lot of those young graduates and new employees registered democrat because dems were the first party to ask them to register when they turned 18.
Many of them won't even show up to vote, to busy, to disconnected from the political scene, to inconvenient, etc. Quite a few will vote only on issues they only understand.
A not insignificant minority will vote conservative as soon as they start earning real money and see how much the taxes are taking from that great salary. Happened with my kids and their freinds.

But what about the women studies degrees. Or modern cultural thought degrees. Surely with Pelosi as speaker all the negative vibes that were keeping women down are gone.
It seems Edwards really was right about their being two Americas. Not between those who own 28,000 sq ft mansions and the rest of us, but between those who get useful degrees and those who don't.

I thought these were all the reasons that liberalism is destroying America and the terrorists are justified in attacking us (a la Dinesh Disouza).
