The Knucklehead of the Day award

Today’s winner comes from the Congressional hearing into whether Roger Clemens used steroids or HGH. Our elected leaders have better things to do IMHO.

Our winner today is Congressman William Lacy Clay. He gets the award for the following.

Rep. William Lacy Clay, a Missouri Democrat, asked Clemens what uniform he would wear when he goes into the Hall of Fame.

All of this time and money wasted, and weeks of preparation and this representative can only think of asking what uniform Clemens will wear to his Hall of Fame induction? I need say no more, Congressman WIlliam Lacy Clay is today’s Knucklehead of the Day.

I’ll also add- Mark McGwire is still waiting for his HOF induction two years after becoming eligible. Who’s to say Clemens could be waiting around for quite some time too.

It’s unbelievable that our tax dollars fund this sort of idiotic investigations. What the hell does congress have to do with whether or not Clemens took steriods or HGH? That was our money wasted today!

  • If they are the Knuckleheads of the day that MUST mean the Tampa police made the asshats of the day list.

  • Dave W

It’s pretty scary that congress can drag a private citizen up in front of them with literally no evidence they did anything wrong and make said person defend themselves and possibly purjur themselves. Now i don’t have any sympathy for those using HGH or steroids, but I do think there is a time and place and congress is definitely not the place.

Waxman must have figured that his investigations into Rush Limbaugh and his fairness doctrine crap was going nowhere, so why not investigate another entity in the private sector, baseball.

  • Peter F.

That was our money wasted today!

No, no, no. That’s your money wasted every day.

    I could not agree more.
As most know, on Tuesday the Senate gave approval
to unfettered access to telecoms to have monitored and pass on phone and emails of Americans without
    justification to the established Court.
But of course the continued gutting of our 4th Amendment is little compared to Sports.
After all baseball players archiving records without artificial stimulants is much more important than individual rights.

  • nogo postal, your claim is completely false and misrepresents the FISA amendments in their entirety.

You’re so wildly off topic that Maggie should scramble your post. At least then it would match the scrambled nature of your brain.

The democrats elected these clowns so why would anyone be surprised that the circus continues? Millions of dollars per day wasted by the United States congress. Time to do away with the full time perks and bring in a 60 day per year session. At least minimize the damage they do.

  • Imhotep

Bill Clay has been a knucklehead long before today….and unfortunately, today won’t be his last effort at knuckleheadedness.

  • the other JD

William Lacy Clay is a knucklehead EVERY day.

  • Jess

Dave W is spot on. A “congressional hearing” is not investigative in nature (no matter how many movies one watches) – it’s designed to give members of congress a platform.
It’s depressing that this particular platform is being used for this scenario – a private citizen being questioned w/no evidence (BTW – what this says @ the mitchell report is the 800lb gorilla. If the MOC really belived the mitchell report, they’d be using it).

I remember Terry Schiavo and how the family of that woman did not want her to be starved to death. Some republican tried to get involved and the democrats raised holy hell saying we have more serious issues to undertake, etc. Now here they are, the democrats, investigating who and if someone stuck a needle in Clemens ass. What leadership. ww

  • iurockhead

Why are congressmen putting on this pointless show? For the same reasons that dogs exhibit certain behaviors: because they can.

  • jess

So, iuro, you’re saying that watching this hearing is like watching dogs lick themselves??

    There’s a visual w/Waxman…. oh god, no.

  • Was this the same guy who asked him if he was a vegan? That was priceless theatre … ” (dead silence) … ummm, I don’t … I’m not sure what that is.”

As for them wasting our money. Yes, the ideal would be for them to scale back and save us some money. But that’s not going to happen. So, if they need something to do I figure this is a lot better than having them busy on something that could really screw us, like Universal Health Care for instance.
