Damn that bad luck

If the poor man didn’t have bad luck, he wouldn’t have any luck at all:

“We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again,” Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa.  “But over the last six months we’ve had a run of bad luck.”  Obama listed three events overseas — the Arab Spring uprisings, the tsunami in Japan, and the European debt crises — which set the economy back.

“All those things have been headwinds for our economy,” Obama said.  “Now, those are things that we can’t completely control.  The question is, how do we manage these challenging times and do the right things when it comes to those things that wecan control?”

“The problem,” Obama continued, “is that we’ve got the kind of partisan brinksmanship that is willing to put party ahead of country, that is more interested in seeing their political opponents lose than seeing the country win.  Nowhere was that more evident than in this recent debt ceiling debacle.”

Actually Mr. President, you’re the problem.  You and your hypocrisy.  You and your policies.  You and your cohorts in Congress.  You and the fools who continue to believe what you say.  You and your blindness to your own partisan brinkmanship, your own incompetence, your hatred for capitalism, your embrace of socialist thought.

It is you Mr. President who wants to see this country lose, you and your war against fossil fuels, your embrace of union thuggery, your notions toward bigger government, your obsession with penalizing the productive, your ideology that enslaves the poor.

Mr. President, for once quit pointing your bony finger of blame outward, for once have the integrity to face the man in the mirror not in adoration but in humility, for once see that you Mr. President are the problem.

It’s not bad luck Mr. President.

It’s you.

You.

It’s not bad luck Mr. President.
    It’s you”

In other news the sun rose in the east.

Obama would never even consider that he was the problem.  His policies are the right ones.  He just hasnt had enough money to implement them properly.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as “bad luck.” – Robert Heinlein (hat tip to Instapundit)

Pretty much explains today’s left. Nothing they have done has anything to do with the economy. It’s only this bad luck stuff that keeps happening that ruins it all.

    • Yeah, because they never mean for any of it to happen – it’s all just bad luck!

In my mind I keep hearing the words, “Looks like Barack’s chicken’s are comin’ home to roost.” I wonder why?

On the other ‘Bad Luck’ thread I postulated that the (P)resident is in reality suffering from the curse of Joe Btfsplk. I see no reason to change my assertion. Everything he gets near goes straight to hell.

I see a landslide in Barry’s future!  And it may even be a racist landslide…

“…. We’ve got the kind of partisan brinksmanship that is willing to put party ahead of country, that is more interested in seeing their political opponents lose than seeing the country win.” Did he look in the mirror? What an unmitigated disaster this bag of bones pretending to be man is! I believe that God allowed him to be our Dear Leader to finally unite the country. Even the ostriches can no longer ignore what is happening. I know this sounds strange, but this Pretender could be what we needed!

Nice leadership there Mr Obama. It’s not my fault, it’s George Bush, Congress, Japan, the mid east, my car broke down, there was a wreck on the freeway IT’S NOT MY FAULT. He has a sign on his desk that says “The buck gets passed from here”

  • The best excuses…

I wasn’t under the impression that we elected a president or a Congress to tell us that we’ve had “bad luck”.  Silly me thought that we elected them to deal with it.

“Don’t look at ME: we’ve had some bad luck, what with the Confederates capturing Ft. Sumter, creating a ironclad ram from the wreck of the Merrimac, and Robert Lee being a better general than all of ours put together…”

    — Abraham Lincoln, 1863

“Don’t look at ME: we’ve had some bad luck, what with the stock market crash, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and the German U-boat campaign…”

    — Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1942

“Don’t look at ME: we’ve had some bad luck, what with the oil crisis, the Iranians grabbing our embassy staff, and the Soviets invading Afghanistan…”

    — Ronald Reagan, 1983

“Don’t look at ME: we’ve had some bad luck, what with Saddam acting up, the Dot Com crash and 9-11…”

    — George Bush, 2002

  • Obama needs to remember that whenever he points a finger at someone else, three fingers are pointing back at him.

we’ve got the kind of partisan brinksmanship that is willing to put
party ahead of country, that is more interested in seeing their
political opponents lose than seeing the country win.

    In other words: Democrats.

  • It was bad luck that regulatory agencies have grown at 16% since he has been elected to right? When you are anti-business like Obama is that is what you get, less business.  That is not luck that is by design.

Hey, he had a bit of bad luck.  Who would have thought it .. bad luck.
I don’t remember ever reading in the newspapers or seeing on TV anything about “bad luck” before.
Bush never had “bad luck.”  Neither did Clinton or Carter.

“I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God” … with “bad luck”

I guess only a “sort of god” has “bad luck.”
