NASCAR drivers say NObama

Some of them anyway:

Nobama President Barack Obama will honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and the 11 other Chase drivers from last year in a White House ceremony on Wednesday – but nearly half of the 2010 playoff contenders won’t be there.

NASCAR said Thursday that five drivers – Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart – will not be attending the White House visit due to “schedule conflicts.”

They must be very busy people. Regardless of one’s political views, the president is still the president – and an opportunity to speak with the leader of the free world is a rare and special one.

You’d think whatever photo shoots or sponsor appearances these drivers have lined up on Wednesday afternoon – if that’s indeed the reason – could be rescheduled. After all, this is thePresident of the United States we’re talking about here.

For a sport that prides itself on patriotism, having so many drivers turn down the president’s invitation simply seems strange.

Actually… I consider doing what you can to avoid this President to be most patriotic… if you love this country, you’ve got to hate what Obama is doing to it.

“For a sport that prides itself on patriotism, having so many drivers turn down the president’s invitation simply seems strange.”Seems to me, for a president who is openly contemptuous of the type of people that participate in, and attend,  NASCAR events, inviting them to the WH simply seems strange.

Barry so wants to be associated with success. Too bad that chapter doesn’t exist in ‘rules for radical fools!’

Why should this be considered so?  An American President is not a king, not a demigod, just a skilled politician.  They put their pants on one leg at a time and are no better intrinsically then any other citizen.  That anyone should drop everything to meet the president – I say Bah

  • I wouldn’t walk across the room to receive an award from the jerk.

Odd.  A certain party had no problem denigrating the previous president.  Remember a certain Senator from Virginia?  Now, for some reason, you’d think we had an Imperial Presidency.  Oh, wait…….

  • Once, long before I’d ever heard of Barack Obama, I thought about what would happen if someone brought me a phone and said the President wants to talk to me. I decided I’d say, “Tell him I’m busy.”

I’m with the NASCAR drivers on this one.

Hard for me to be neutral on this one…. but, it sounds a lot more like the Prez was the one looking for the photo-op here.

Hey, everyone knows there are only 6 drivers in the chase!?!?!?!? Well, if you’re a progressive/eco-freak.

Stewart drives a Goverment Motors car – he better be careful.

Oh hell, so does Harvick.  So much for that theory.

So several NASCAR drivers said “No”. Has he even ever watched a NASCAR race?
He’s just trying to gloom onto something that’s popular in the vain hope that it will raise his popularity with the segment of the population that does support NASCAR. Somehow I doubt that the conservative audience really liked him to start with.

He better get used to hearing that response with his popularity at 38%. Even Democrat politicians are distancing themselves from him  I believe “No” and “Stay away.” are two responses he’s going to be hearing a lot in the coming months as campaign season starts to spool up.

He’s looking to compare notes as he’s a bit of a driver himself. Driving the country over a cliff, that is.
