Doesn’t this sound like a threat?

Van Jones is predicting an American fall:

Van_Jones “Hold on to your hats, we’re going to have an October offensive to take back the American dream and rescue America’s middle class,” Jones told MSNBC’s “The Last Word.”

Jones warns of an “American Fall” like there was an Arab Spring.

Jones was President Obama’s “green jobs czar” until he resigned in fall of 2009. Transcript below:

Van Jones: “We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to the tea party. Eighty percent of Americans agree with everything that you say on this show, but we have no voice. We know that jobs are more important, and this phony, made-up deficit stuff they talk about. We know that people who have done well in America should do well by America and start paying America back in the form of more fair taxes.

“People who benefited from the bailouts and from the tax breaks should start paying America back. They’re doing great.

“Everybody else is suffering. That is 80 percent of the majority. And we’re going to now have a voice.

“And you’re going to see an American fall, an American autumn, just like we saw the Arab spring. You can see it right now with these young people on Wall Street. Hold onto your hats. We’re going to have an October offensive to take back the American dream and to rescue America’s middle class.”

First you have Obama stating that America’s soft… and then you have one of his czars say we’re going to see an American fall.  Is there linkage?  Is there collusion?

The question posed in the title of this post is a valid one… and the follow-up is most cogent.

What will you do to defend against this predicted American fall?

Soft or Fettered?
Obama now needs to rename the "Buffet Rule"...

I like how he changes American Fall to American Autumn..wouldn’t want anyone to see what he really wants.

Please, Jones is as ineffectual as his former boss. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

  • Anonymous

I think it’s amazingly brave (but not real bright) of Van Jones to come out in the open and admit that he wants to overthrow his former boss.

I mean – you can get in a lot of trouble for calling for the overthrow of the current American President.  What a shame if Jones gets in the appropriate amount of trouble for calling for an insurrection against Democrats…

  • Be careful what you wish for, Van.

  • retired.military

“People who benefited from the bailouts and from the tax breaks should start paying America back. They’re doing great’

Who is he talking about here?  I mean the only  ones I know in those categories are the unions, Major Obama bundlers, head of Solyndra, Solar wind and power companies, and congress (mostly democrats).

“We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to the tea party”YEAH!  And we’re gonna call it THE COFFEE PARTY!  Yeah!….huh?……there was?……..er…..a…..ah……..Never mind………………………

  • herddog505

Typical lefty blowhard.  Aside from filthy, drug-addled former hippie burnouts and faux socialists like Fat Mikey and the rest of the Hollywood crowd, who would follow Jones in this “autumn”?

And think of the mess they’d leave!  The crap all over the Mall after the immaculation in 2009 wouldnt hold a candle to it.  Fat Mikey’s Twinkie wrappers alone would fill an NYC garbage barge.

I’m not worried about Van Jones.  There are plenty of people whose mental state ranges from “mildly irritated” to “fomaing at the mouth furious” but, unfortunately for Jones and his pinko ilk, most of them are mad at Obama, not the corporate fatcats that Jones seems to want so badly to line up against the wall and shoot.

You’ll have to pardon Van.  Lost his meal ticket, AND got thrown under the bus by Barry.

And you’ll have to pardon his math.  Given MSNBC’s cable ratings, at no time does 80% of the viewing population watch MSNBC.

Van’s just babbling bullshit.  That’s all he’s got.

    • Anonymous

He may have lost his grip on reality as well. Extrapolating the accendancy of Progressive-ism based on a couple dozen assorted nuts hanging out on Wall St. for a week (and I don’t think those people should have been allowed to leave until they cleaned up their mess) gives me pause to question his competency.

But I do think we’re seeing and hearing the latest meme developed to try an awaken their base.

  • Hate to be a math stickler but, 80% of a majority is only 40%.

on another note: Has anyone notified Attack Watch about what this guy is saying?

  • Bob Armstrong

Now, let’s see – who around here is threatened by a black man.

    Rick!

Van Jones: “We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to the tea
party. Eighty percent of Americans agree with everything that you say on
this show, but we have no voice. We know that jobs are more important,
and this phony, made-up deficit stuff they talk about. We know that
people who have done well in America should do well by America and start
paying America back in the form of more fair taxes.

What on earth is “threatening” about that?

    • Anonymous

Ya know what they say about payback don’t cha?  And take a SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) as to who gets to determine whats fair… oh yeah, I forgot, you subscribe to the Democrat Angel form of beneficent government.

      Semper Fidelis-

      • Bob Armstrong

So you couldn’t find anything threatening in what Rick quoted Van Jones saying either then eh?

        • Anonymous

Let’s see this guy talks about a American Fall like the Arab Spring, I forget were those elections that overturned the Arab governments, do we have a big election this fall? Humm I wonder….. Since we don’t have any big elections that will effect the national government this fall what is the goal of this “American Autum”

          • Bob Armstrong

So you can’t cite the threat in what Jones said – you can only cite the threat that exists between your own ears.

What about an “American Fall” do you find “threatening” and how does Jones present that threat?

          • Anonymous

I don’t feel threatened you idiot the question is is this a threat and since he compares the American Autum to the Arab Spring which was very violent yes I consider this to be a threat. If you don’t great but the next time the Tea Party says they are going to take America back you better keep you dumb assed mouth shut.

          • Bob Armstrong

The threat is in your head.

            What violence does Jones advocate?

            Nothing, absolutely nothing.

but he’s black… run! run for the hills!

    • Anonymous

“And you’re going to see an American fall, an American autumn, just
like we saw the Arab spring. You can see it right now with these young
people on Wall Street. Hold onto your hats. We’re going to have an
October offensive to take back the American dream and to rescue
      America’s middle class.”

That comment was the dumbest you have ever made Bob and that is quite a feat given the magnitude of your stupidity displayed previously.

      • Bob Armstrong

Nope, Brian can’t point to the “threatening” aspect of this either.

Odd that Rick would find something like this as “threatening”…

    • I understand that decades of substance abuse and a degenerate lifestyle has destroyed whatever tiny brain you once had, but it’s just too obvious that the “threatening” is the call to match the street violence and instigate revolution.

It’s rather empty, and certainly I agree that Jones himself isn’t threatening.  I hope that punk leads his revolution onto my property.  You should join him, but do bathe and get checked out first – I’d hate for the dogs to catch something.

      • Bob Armstrong

Ahh, leave it it to the diehard racists.

Jones is black. Admit it – if this was a white man you wouldn’t find it “threatening” at all…

        • Anonymous

Listen to the liberal baby that cried his eyes out  because Sarah Palin put targets on a map… OOH the mean lady is threatening and is going to incite violence… Shoes on the other foot now and he doesn’t like it. Too bad I say this ass hole is calling for armed revolution prove he isn’t …

    • Anonymous

and as usual you have to focus on the guy’s race, can’t you just for once put away your racism?

      • Bob Armstrong

Because the only reason Rick feels this is “threatening” is that it’s a black man.

Nothing in what Jones says is “threatening” in the least – certainly no more threatening then the Tea Party Grandmas were saying two years ago.

        • Anonymous

He does not feel threatened by the black man he asks is the black man issuing a threat do you not see the difference? Just because someone issues a threat it does not mean anyone feels threatened by it. Besides who is the only jackass to mention this guys race….. that would be you. It’s only coincidence that this communist is black.

          • Bob Armstrong

Except nobody can point out any real “threat”.

Rick didn’t cite specifically what was threatening, and none of the commenters can point out “the threat” either.

And Rick asked the question in his headline – “Doesn’t this sound like a threat?

So obviusly he was threatened by… what? What was threatening? What is Jones quote is any different than what the tea party protesters or any other similar protester has said.

But lo and behold there’s even photographic evidence that Jones is black.

Apparently that’s what Rick and others find threatening….

            Here’s the quote again:

Van Jones: “We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to
the tea party. Eighty percent of Americans agree with everything that
you say on this show, but we have no voice. We know that jobs are more
important, and this phony, made-up deficit stuff they talk about. We
know that people who have done well in America should do well by America
and start paying America back in the form of more fair taxes.

            Where’s the “threat”?

          • Anonymous

You’re an idiot he compares his American Autum to the Arab Spring which was very violent so that’s what’s being considered a threat. And like I said just because he’s black doesn’t mean he isn’t threating with this American Autum. The only person here that cares about his race is you.

          • Bob Armstrong

            What violence does Jones advocate?

Come on- make something up – because that the only place this black man is “threatning” – -inside the head of a racist.

          • Anonymous

I didn’t say this black man is threating, you quit making shit up. You have a reading comprehension problem, you read what you want to into everything that’s said.

    • Anonymous

Now, let’s see – who around here is threatened by a black man.

Careful there, Bobby, you’re letting your racism slip through. To you, apparently, we can’t mock or even criticize Van Jones because he’s black, despite the fact that he’s a political opponent who is openly hostile to our point of view. Do you claim Jones requires special protection that a white leftist wouldn’t get? Or do you claim that we’re targeting (oops, sorry, didn’t mean to use violent wording there… I know how upset you lefties get about that) him because he’s black?

Or, third choice, do you just resort to the racism accusation as a sort of stimulus/response, much like an amoeba? Stimulus: conservative says something. Response: Bob Armstrong accuses conservative of being a racist.

      • Bob Armstrong

You can mock and criticize him all you want – after all , he’s black – one of the favorite targets at Wizbang. It would be ludicrous to not expect this blog to single him out and let the commenting community have at him. That’s a given.

All I”m asking is point out the “threat” that racists are singling out in his words.

        Can’t? Neither can anyone else.

Here it is again – where is the “threat”?

Van Jones: “We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to
the tea party. Eighty percent of Americans agree with everything that
you say on this show, but we have no voice. We know that jobs are more
important, and this phony, made-up deficit stuff they talk about. We
know that people who have done well in America should do well by America
and start paying America back in the form of more fair taxes.

        Where is the threat?

        • Anonymous

Well, that was a mess. We can mock and criticize him all we want? Yet, because he’s black we’re supposed to… what, exactly? NOT criticize or mock him? If we “single him out,” we’re racists… but we criticize and mock white leftists all the time. Ow, my head hurts trying to make sense of your points. I don’t suppose you have some statistics that show that we pick on black leftists more than white ones. That would be nice.

Nice catch-22 you’ve set up in your greasy skull there, Bob. Damned if we do, damned if we don’t.  You don’t actually have to prove we’re racists, it’s just your default position. What’s funny is that you argue like we’re supposed to accept what you say. Guess what, troll, we don’t. You make the accusation, it up to you to prove it.

All I”m asking is point out the “threat” that racists are singling out in his words.

Which racists? Be specific. I want names. As far as the “threat” goes, Bobby, don’t bother trying that line with me. If you would ever bother reading what people actually write, you’d see I wrote this below eight hours ago.

“To me it doesn’t sound like a threat. It sounds like empty bluster from
an irrelevant man who is desperately trying to become relevant.”

I’m not going to argue the point with you. I’m talking about YOUR ridiculous double-standard, your empty and reflexive accusations of racism, and your incoherent beliefs. You really are a piece of crap, Bob. You label everyone who dares to disagree with your cookie-cutter leftist ideas (such as they are, since you rarely state what you’re for, only what you’re against) as a racist, and never feel compelled to provide the slightest proof.

Try it with me, drone. I’ll even help. Here’s a link:
          http://www.google.com/search?sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&source=hp&q=site%3Awizbangblog.com+%22evil+otto%22&btnG=Search

I’ve made hundreds of comments here. Feel free to dig through to your shriveled heart’s content and find the racism. Should be pretty easy, no? Unless I’m a master of hiding the racism in my heart and it takes Bob Armstrong and his Shadow-like ability to know what racism lurks in the hearts of men to find it.

You won’t bother, because you know how meaningless and empty your accusation is. More to the point, you won’t bother cause you’re trolling. This is nothing more than a form of masturbation for you, a way to get yourself off on your hatred of conservatives. I don’t believe there’s anything deeper to you than that.

    Mr. Armstrong,

You just might have to put yourself on suicide watch when you discover how many Americans vote for Herman Cain in the run-up to his Party’s nomination.  If he wins the general – your head will just explode.

    Semper Fidelis-

    • Except for the foul odor, it would be just like a balloon popping.

    • Bob Armstrong

He’ll never win the nomination – he’s black. Too many racists in the GOP to elect Cain, and you know it.

      • Anonymous

        Mr. Armstrong,

I know no such thing.  I couldn’t give two figs about the color of Mr. Cain’s skin.  If he can demonstrate that he has what it takes to lead our nation, and so gets his Party’s nomination, as a registered “Independent,” I would gladly pull the handle for him in the general without any reservations.

Saved round. “Never” is a poor word choice… and just like throwing down the word “Racists,”  one tends to end up eating crow (and lots of it), when one uses it.

        Semper Fidelis-

        • Bob Armstrong

Well then – you’ re a moron.

Cain will never get the nomination. Period. Too many GOP racists.

    • Bob Armstrong

Rick wrote that what Jones said was a “threat” — can you cite what is “threatening”?

  • Anonymous

To me it doesn’t sound like a threat. It sounds like empty bluster from an irrelevant man who is desperately trying to become relevant. He and the rest of the left has been trying to build a “progressive counterbalance to the tea party” for a while now and have failed utterly, for one simple reason: there aren’t that many progressives. Aside from aging hippies, out-of-touch college faculty, and numerous students too clueless to have fully-formed political opinions, damned few people in this country consider themselves to be “progressives.” The turnout for the anti-Wall Street protests has been pathetic and the other attempts by the left to create counter groups to the Tea Party have failed (anyone remember the “Coffee Party?”). This will be no different.

The Tea Party wasn’t built, it formed as a reaction to an out-of-control government. IT is the group fighting for the middle class, not this wannabe revolutionary and avowed communist. In fact, we’re fighting against him and people like him. The left will continue to fail to create their own Tea Party precisely because they’re trying to create one.

“Everybody else is suffering. That is 80 percent of the majority. And we’re going to now have a voice.”I love how this communist pretends that he’s “middle class.” That he’s “suffering.” That he cares about those who are suffering rather than seeing them as an opportunity to start the communist revolution he dreams of.

    • herddog505

Evil_OttoI love how this communist pretends that he’s “middle class.”

Good observation.  Since when do commies care about the “middle class”, the bourgeoisie?  Answer: never… unless that’s the talking point d’jour to help get them into power.  They are much more allied with and “concerned” about the proletariate: the wage worker, the union member who sells – practically GIVES AWAY – his labor to the capitalist bloodsuckers for the slave wage of $50 / hr in pay and benefits.

  • “made-up deficit stuff”

Yet another example of the idiotic belief among leftist intellectuals that “the rich” or “the bankers” or “the capitalists” (or whatever the appropriate nom de jour is) have “stolen” tens trillions of dollars from the workers of the world during the last several centuries, and hoarded the money secretly.  There is no true national debt anywhere in the world.  It exists only because “the rich” have “stolen” the money that would have otherwise kept governments solvent.  Therefore all we need to do is have the government take the money back from the rich through forced taxation.  Then everyone will have their “fair share” again.

So, Obama and the Democrats are not really running up debt.  They are simply spending the money stolen by the dirty filthy rich capitalist banker pigs without their consent, and redistributing it to those who need it most.  All we have to do is take back that money from the rich via taxes and regulatory fees, balance the budget, and we will once again be a great nation.  Oh, and put the intellectuals in charge forever, free from pesky distractions like accountability and elections.

It’s so easy to understand … if you check in your brain at the door and chug the purple kool-aid long enough, I guess.

    • Anonymous

      Mr. Laprarie,

I tried to follow the logic as I read what you wrote…but its pretty twisted, with a good dose of paranoia and conspiracy theory thrown in. It also tells me that those that have such ideas, are completely clueless as to their importance in the world around them.

Just like when you borrow your neighbors car – you return it (with a full tank of gas, as interest).  And thus, if you borrowed money, or money is borrowed in your good name – you have an obligation to pay it back… with interest.

Now creditors face the prospect that borrowers might default… and sometimes that happens.  But distressed borrowers have to also acknowledge that if they do default on their debt, they will have to live within their own means  – and start over from that point forward.

All the rest of that noise about having someone else pay your way, or support your lifestyle, is nothing but lies.  The world doesn’t owe you (or me) anything.

Those who are resilient, self-reliant, and responsible – just pick themselves up off the floor and get on with it.

Those amongst us however, who are dependent, duplicitous, and dishonest  – will suffer terribly when there is no longer enough state/public financing to keep them satiated – like EBTs (Bread) and NPR (Circuses).

I agree with your analysis, but to add to that – I see our country hitting the debt saturation wall.  Just how bad then will things get? – Well, we are all fixing to find out.
