WaPo suggests Michelle Obama’s Target trip was orchestrated

The trip being orchestrated isn’t news… because the likelihood is that it was indeed choreographed… the news is the Washington Post’s suggestion that it is… big news in this guy’s eyes:

Michelle_target Neither the White House nor the Associated Press will say how AP photographer Charles Dharapak came to be the only news photographer present at the Alexandria Target to capture Obama’s shopping excursion.

“All I can say is that it was the result of good source work on his part,” AP spokesman Paul Colford said, declining to elaborate on the sources or the work involved.

A spokeswoman for Michelle Obama, Kristina Schake, also declined to discuss how the photographs came about. In a statement, she said, “It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates.”

But it is uncommon, and perhaps unprecedented, for a single news organization to record such a trip. 

Perhaps the WaPo would engage now in an exposé looking into what else news organizations are doing to make things up about the Obamas.

That would be investigative journalism.

Don’t hold your breath.

    All I can say is that it was probably a direct phone call placed to AP by the WH.
    I seriously doubt they let the first Wookie ‘slip out’ without a phalanx of handlers to help restrict unprompted responses to questions from the masses.

    It is an obvious photo op propaganda piece.
    Anyone notice that it is her assistant that is carrying most of the bags while she pushes an empty cart. I also sure some one notice the assistant in her expensive suite or the secret service members following her around.

      And throw in police officers, firemen, etc., while you’re at it.  A president may be utterly sincere in his admiration for people like that (IMO, anybody who DOESN’T respect them for the job they do is either totally clueless or a total a**hole) and his desire to give them better pay, better tools, etc., but he oughtn’t use them as stage props.

      Obama is opposed to gay marrige or haven’t you heard, or are you just confused because like most things he’s really on both sides of the issue. It’s the post partisan thing to do.

        No, Jwb, see Senator Obama and Candidate Obama was opposed to gay marriage, but President Obama favors it.  Or was that Senator Obama supported it, but Candidate Obama opposed while President Obama favors it.

        Anyway – you are clearly a racist for even suggesting that Obama has not been consistant on any issue (/sarc)

      Yeah, but Target also booted the Salvation Army, the most efficient charitable organization in the country (even their CEO is a volunteer), so that appeases the atheists, muslims, ACLU types, and the diehard Marxists, a much bigger coalition than just the gays, who probably won’t desert anyway.

    Of course, now everyone will forget she flies in her personal trainer from Chicago weekly at taxpayer expense, and has taken several taxpayer-funded holidays at exclusive resorts.  No one will care she insisted on a separate jet and security team to fly her to Martha’s Vineyard because she wouldn’t wait FOUR HOURS for Barry and Air Force One to start her vacation.

    This will work for Obama’s potential voters, who at this point are comprised only of the Kool Aid drinkers and the extremely stupid.

      Well, the focus groups rated it much higher if she carried her bags than if her assistants were stuck with it as usual.  But she had the cart, and didn’t know how to manage the situation, but they must have impressed upon her how important it was to carry her own bags.

    Meh. It’s part ‘n’ parcel of being a politician.  I recall my father ranting about Tip O’Neil on the campaign trail, taking off his jacket and rolling up his sleeves like he was some sort of working man instead of a career politician.  Most if not all politicians do the same sorts of things: “Hey, I’m just like you!  So vote for me!”

    I admit, however, that the hypocrisy is especially glaring with the Obamas.
