“Get a hold of yourself, Joe”

My former Governor thinks Joe Biden ought to be dropped from the ticket:

WilderBiden“You go back to the reasons that Joe Biden was put on the ticket in the very first instance. It was supposedly because he had the great experience. He had been there for years. He had been Foreign Relations chair. He had been chairman of the Judiciary and supposedly knew the workings of the Senate. Now, has that worked to the president’s better interest or has it taken away from the president? And the gaffe is not just a question of will Joe Biden make a gaffe and incidentally I like him. Personally, I think he is a fine fellow,” Former Gov. Douglas Wilder (D-VA) said on FOX News.

“But, Is he the person you want in place? You know, you always hear that thing. Suppose something would happen to the president, who would be in charge? The Vice President. Joe Biden? You have got to be kidding today when you say the Taliban’s not our enemy,” Wilder told Neal Cavuto.

“I fought in Korea, front line. I knew who the enemy were. The enemy were the people who were firing at me. And shooting at me. And so for some guy to come back and today, incidentally, to meet with the returning veterans and their families and I don’t believe he would tell them ‘Oh, look, the Taliban is not your enemy.’ Just like they would have told us in Korea, ‘Well, you know, the Chinese are not really your enemy, they’re just helping out the North Koreans.’ Get ahold of yourself, Joe,” he said.

Some shots in the Hillary for VP putsch.  Chico told you weeks ago that Joe will go.

Hillary would just about guarantee Obama’s reelection against any ticket. Romney/Rubio might give them a run, anybody else, like Gingrich, it would a landslide.

Wilder’s been at this for more than a year.

    Hillary for Vice President?
    The movement is gaining traction.

    By JOHN FUND

As President Obama sinks in the polls, Democrats and liberal pundits inevitably are searching for a scapegoat. The most likely victim appears to be gaffe-prone Vice President Joe Biden, who has become the focus of speculation that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just might replace him on the 2012 Democratic ticket.

Former Virginia Gov. Doug Wilder, his state’s first African-American governor, touched off the controversy. Writing at Politico.com last week, Mr. Wilder argued that Mr. Biden’s tenure has been undistinguished and chock full of “too many YouTube moments.” He charged that Mr. Biden “has continued to undermine what little confidence the public may have had in him.”

By way of contrast, Mr. Wilder says that Hillary Clinton has excelled in her role. “Clinton has been nothing but a team player who has earned good marks since being asked to serve as secretary of state.” Having Mrs. Clinton join the 2012 ticket, he said, would revive the Democratic Party and reestablish the party’s working-class voters who found her appealing during the 2012 primaries against Mr. Obama.

I bet it doesn’t happen. OTIS says Biden won’t go anywhere. Upsetting the ticket would be a mistake on several levels. Besides, Democrats need to double down on stupid, just like they always do.

“Chico told you weeks ago that Joe will go.”

Chico I predicted this about 2 years ago if not longer. GIve the “Chico told you so ” schtick a break.

You’ll have to forgive Chico. He’s a little slow on the uptake. Just like his pal Barry and jobs creation is on track spiel.

When is the last time a veep won a presidential race?  Please get back to me on that. . . .

I can tell you the last time a VP pick lost one – 2008. In 1976, too. Dole was a little too nasty in that one.

And yet, there he is, serving as veep.

Idiot.  Palin gave McCain a shot in the arm – he lost because of his flailing around when the financial crisis hit, after earlier admitting he was weak on economics.

Ford lost by a hair because of the Nixon pardon, the Eastern European gaffe, and the election being on Tuesday.  Had it been delayed until Friday, he would have won.  Dole only “looked” mean because he rested his injured arm on the podium which made him look unserious and sarcastic – he refused to let anyone explain for him, either.

Biden isn’t going anywhere because Hilarity! isn’t dumb enough to hitch her wagon to Obama and spend three months defending his every stupid policy and corrupt act.

      • retired.military

In 2008 if McCain had not picked Palin than he would have lost by another 5% of the popular vote at least.

Why should Joe go?  Seriously: does he REALLY drag down the ticket?  Sure, he says stupid things, but, really, could ANYBODY drag down Barry any more than Barry does himself?  And if Joe goes, why not the Bagman, “The System Worked” JaNo, Tax Cheat Timmy, the fumbling idiot Sibelius, or Union Goon Solis?  The regime is corrupt and incompetent from top to bottom; Joe’s merely a genial, garden-variety fool.  Hell, he’s the LEAST offensive of the Obama crowd.

Mr. Wilder says that Hillary Clinton has excelled in her role. “Clinton has been nothing but a team player who has earned good marks since being asked to serve as secretary of state.”

On what friggin’ planet is THAT true???  From the infamous “Reset Button” to the kinetic military action in Libya, the Hilldabeast has been AT BEST a non-entity and at worst an outright disaster.  It speaks volumes of how bad Barry’s been that she looks good in comparison.  Can anybody point to a single actual accomplishment in her term as Secretary of State?  She’s been a “team player” only to the extent that she’s kept her mouth shut and done what Barry’s told her to do, which is apparently nothing beyond make a few speeches and really let her appearance go.

Having Mrs. Clinton join the 2012 ticket, he said, would revive the Democratic Party and reestablish the party’s working-class voters who found her appealing during the 2012 primaries against Mr. Obama.

Translation: “SH*T!  Barry’s costing us the the white working class vote so badly that putting this white elitist hag on the ticket can only help.”

    Excellent point.

Hillary has fanatic supporters. Remember the Pumas? Plus the female thing would be generally goin’ on. Nobody could deny that Hillary was smart enough and experienced enough, unlike the last two female VP candidates. Hillary would charge up their base, which is demoralized by all of Obama’s broken promises.  Like it or not, most people look back on the Clinton presidency as a time of peace and prosperity only somewhat disrupted by a sideshow sex scandal whipped up out of proportion by the media and Republicans.

As far as Wilder’s comments on what Biden said go, there isn’t much comparison between the Korean War and Afghanistan.  In Korea, the North Koreans invaded the south, the UN invaded the north, and then the Chinese invaded the north, too.  It was almost all conventional warfare on fronts.

Afghanistan is a counterinsurgency war in which one of the principles is to try to co-opt, reconcile and demobilize as many of the insurgents and the supporting populace as you can.  It was done in Iraq, where the US paid $$$ to lots of guys who had killed Americans.  Now they’re looking for a way out in Afghanistan and getting the indigenous Pashtun insurgents to talk to the Afghan government is part of the strategy.  You can call them “the Taliban” if you wish, but if it’s better to get as many as you can on our side, better not to demonize them.  In the end, Afghans will determine the future of their country.  If the Afghan government can’t beat the “Taliban,” they’re not worth much.

Joe’s problem is that he DOES have a hold of himself

Bullshit.  The man is so bought by Hollywood, it’s not even funny.  He just has as many connections as Obama to the Wall Street money.  That won’t help with voters who seem him as a fat cat.

It doesn’t matter who the VP is on the ticket. They could dig up Zombie Reagan and the SCOAMF would still be a deer in the headlights just before the train splashes him.

He is the type of candidate that voters of all party’s will crawl over broken glass to vote against.

Something is fuxxored on the blog. I cannot edit my comments I have also noticed other serious anomolies. It’s also lagging all of my systems. The problem exists in FF & IE using 7 or XP and so far every system I have access to.

Joe Biden was the head cheerleader in calling Bush – Cheney a couple of doofuses. Well Joe and Barry have proven that they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. In fact, they are so dull; it would take a power grinder to even start an edge.

  • Anonymous

Hillary won’t run merely because of the notion that it is difficult for Obama to win re-election. Plus, Obama called the Clinton’s racist and Bill did not like that. Hillary would have to resign from Sec State to campaign since world affairs is so fluid now. I just don’t see it.

Also, it is better at this point for Obama to have somewhat control of Biden’s mouth than no control. ww

I’d hate to see Joe go.
So far, he’s been the smartest one in the White House.

ANy replacement for Biden needs not only to be stronger than Biden, but needs to make up for the hit they will take for replacing him.  Removing him from the ticket will make the administration look incompetent and weak (Ok it will acknowledge the fact that they are incompetent and weak).

In an administration that refuses to admit error, where Eric Holder is defended as doing a good job, to remove Biden has the appearance of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.  It isn’t addressing the problems it is a slight of hand trying to improve electability without doing anything to improve the actual performance of the admin.

Not everyone is an idiot.  obama will find that out in 11 months.

    • Anonymous

Well, obama will still be an idiot in 11 months or years, so he will not be able to acknowledge his loss as anything but racist.

  • Anonymous

Biden was assassination prevention.  Hillary will not be asked because her supporters would like to see her take over.

I met Doug Wilder when he was still in the State Senate, before he was even Lt. Governor.   I had a morning paper route in the downtown high rises to make extra money in the early ’80s, most days I could sub it out to VCU students, but when they couldn’t do it I carried them myself.  I would wear old, newsprint-stained clothes to do it so I wouldn’t mess up any more, and looked like a street bum, I’m sure.

Wilder’s building was my last, and I would often meet him going down the elevator – he went in early, even as a State Senator.  We conversed about all sorts of issues, he never acted like an important official, just a regular guy – even though he knew early on I didn’t live in his district.

He was the last Democrat I voted for (for Lt. Gov., I had left Virginia before he ran for Gov.).

The main problem for the left isnt the bottom of the ticket. It is the top of the ticket.  Hillary knows it as well.

I think if anyone goes it will be Obama due to “health reasons”
