“1000 Days”

It’s been that long since the Senate passed a Federal Budget.

If President Obama wants to run against a “do-nothing Congress” I hope the Republican nominee obliges him, and points out this fact at every opportunity – then excoriates Obama for being the embodiment of poor leadership, for allowing the Democratic leadership in the Senate to blow off one of their most important responsibilities for three years without a single admonishment or reproach from the White House.

The Republicans should also remind voters that not only have Harry Reid’s Democrats refused to introduce their own budget for the last 1000 days, they’ve also killed every single budget-related proposal from the House.

There is no way the Republicans should be able to lose on this issue.  However, I’m sure they’ll figure out a way sometime before this November.

“WAAAHHHH!!!!  The mean ol’ Republicans just wouldn’t let us pass a budget ‘c-c-cuz they just want Obama to FAAAIIIILLLL!!!!  WAAAAHHHH!!!!”

Oh, and it’s all George Bush’s fault.

This has been the democrat’s defense for the past 1000 days; it seems to work for them.  And, let’s face it: the country seems to ruin… er… run itself without a federal budget, so must people don’t care about this issue.  As long as Grandma gets her check, all is well.

I don’t think it’s that most people don’t care about this issue.
I think it has more to do with the fact that it is ignored by the MSM.

If they wanted, or if a repub were in the WH, this could be (and should be) a major issue.

      • GarandFan

Yep, the MSM motto is “If we don’t report it, it didn’t happen!”

        • Hank_M

Which explains how Obama’s supporters are able to get away with claiming that he’s been scandal free.

  • Olsoljer

What’s really hysterical is that the demorat party had complete control for 2 years and could have passed anything they wanted.

    • 914

Thank GOD they were to stupid to do so.

      • herddog505

Crazy like a fox: no budget means that none of them voted for or against anything.  There’s no electoral accountability at all; they can claim any position that they like and who can produce evidence to the contrary.  It’s a politician’s dream.

        • jim_m

Yep.  No budget, no accountability.  Now Barry wants to be able to spend without any debt authorization.  The dcems just want to run the government like it is their private piggy bank with no oversight and no controls.  That is until a republican enters the White House and then they will go back to the same position that Barry had when he was a Senator:  “Raising the debt limit is unpatriotic!”

Hypocritical swine.  Tar and feathers would be far too kind for them.

          • GarandFan

            “no accountability”

That’s been Barry’s mantra all along.  Everything is ALWAYS the fault of someone else.

          • herddog505

Charitably, why let a little thing like a budget get in the way of doing good?

Uncharitably, what better way short of flipping a nuke at the Russians can you think of to ruin the country?

  • John H

If the GOP really wants to own this issue, they should pass a bill calling for a 50% cut in senator and representative pay whenever there isn’t a budget in place. The senate will undoubtedly block it, but it raises the stakes.

Yep, you can count on it.

Why? Because the issue doesn’t matter to the voters.

They notice that the GOP has blocked Obama’s job bill for months, cause that hits them in the pocketbook.

Whining about the budget? Eh, who cares. There always seems to be a way to spend money despite the gawd awful budget issue you’ve raised (if you can call it that).

Maybe the GOP wouldn’t boot so many opportunities if they focused on matters that matter to the American people, and not just fling monkey poo over NOTHING.
