“Cut a check and shut up”

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had those choice words and a few more for billionaire Warren Buffet:

You can’t help but love the freshness of Chris Christie. I think he’d make a most excellent Vice President.

Last year, I signed a petition encouraging him to run.  Too bad he declined.  America needs a leader who isn’t afraid to fight the good fight against special interest.  New Jersey is fortunate to have him as Governor.

I don’t think he’d make a good XO though – as he’d be more effective in charge, vice 2nd in command.

Yes.  Christie would be wasted going to funerals for a living.

“I really think the rich should pay more.”

Like Christie said.  There’s nobody stopping him from writing a check.

  • Brian_R_Allen

    ….
“I really think the rich should pay more ….”

Stupid bloody North-Eastern huddled-masses/lubburulls projectile vomit the cliches of socialism and don’t get it that 1% of America’s Taxpayers already pay 40% of its taxes while, since 0=Zero, the percentage of Americans paying no taxes at all has increased past 51%!

Or that most evil is as banal as is the evil they advance.

  • ackwired

Kind of touchy, isn’t he?  What does he find annoying about someone expressing an opinion different than his?

    • GarandFan

Are you that dense?  What pisses people off is Warren’s pious attitude that he’d “like to pay more” – as if the gov’t had a gun to his head threatening to shoot if he did.  And the same good ‘ol Warren has been paying his lawyers for several years to contest an IRS ruling that his investment company owes the gov’t $1 BILLION in back taxes.

      Smell the hypocrisy yet?

      • jim_m

It’s not just “several years’ it’s been since 2001 that he has contested his tax bill.  If it were you or I we would have been thrown in the slammer by now, but Buffet can pay off enough politicians to keep himself out, and I wager that he is calculating that if he plays the useful idiot well enough for Barry that Barry will let him off the hook for those billions.

      • ackwired

I’m not sure I do.  So I guess that I really am that dense.  Sorry a genius like you has to put up with it.  But it seems to me that you are talking about apples and oranges here.  I think he has a right to defend himself against the IRS if he feels that they are demanding he pay something that he does not think that he owes.  I also think he has a right to express his opinion as to whether the tax laws are fair or not.  They are two completely different things, and I don’t see why you don’t think he should be able to call the tax code unfair just because he has an ongoing issue with the IRS about one of his company’s past tax returns.  I guess if I was as smart as you, I would be able to make that illogical jump.  But I am just too stupid to do it.

        • GarandFan

          ” I am just too stupid ”

See, we can agree on something.

          • SoBeRight

Looks like you won the argument, ackwired.  You’ve reduced the trolls down to their base snivel…

          • GarandFan

Hahahahaha!  You’re reading comprehension is as deep as your mental acuity.

          • SoBeRight

            thanks for proving me right.

          • Sky__Captain

Only in your own mind, not by any debating standard.

Why don’t you just ban GarandFan and declare total victory?

          • Jwb10001

first and final warning! SEE IT WORKED!

        • jim_m

Jeez Ackwired.  Buffett complains that he doesn’t pay enough in taxes and that the government should be making him and others like him pay more.  He does this all the while not paying billions in taxes over the last decade that he is spending huge sums of money to avoid paying forever.

Are you really that stupid that you cannot see the hypocrisy there?

And it isn’t just one tax return it is every tax return since 2001.  It’s called tax evasion if it were you and me.  Frankly, he shouldn’t be visiting the White House he should be living in the big house.

          • ackwired

Buffet is not saying that he wants to pay more taxes.  He is saying that it is unfair that the rich pay so much less than the middle class, and that the tax code should be changed to make it more fair.  You have to change what he is saying before you can see any hypocracy.  Why not just be honest and deal with what he says?

As for his company’s tax returns, he has an obligation to his shareholders not to pay any more than the company is legally obligated to pay.

People can disagree with you without having evil intents, or without being hypocritical, or without being less intelligent.

      • TomInCali

So for the people who want to kill Social Security and Medicare (perhaps such as yourself?), should we expect you to shut up and return/refuse the money that exceeds what you’ve put into the system?

        • Gmacr1

          Nonsequiter.

This has nothing to do with your handwave attempt to change the subject.

Thnx for playing, you can return to your coolaid induced stupor now.

          • TomInCali

Huh? Change the subject? You call a guy a hypocrite because he doesn’t give extra money to the government to conform with his stated beliefs, and I ask if you do the same. Hardly changing the subject. I guess that’s what you need to avoid having to reconcile your inconsistencies.

          • Gmacr1

You ignorant halfwit… Wherein does what you said have the slightest connection to the original premise?

Your stupidity is shocking to say the least.

Why don’t you and ZGo have a cool aid chugging contest? Its the one thing you both excell at.

        • GarandFan

          Oh look!  A rabbit!

          • TomInCali

Oh look! If you pretend the question isn’t relevant, then you can let yourself not answer, and then convince yourself that your position is a rational one!

        • SoBeRight

Of course not. They suck up all the federal handouts they can get their hands on then rail about others.

It points out their hypocrisy nicely, don’t you think?

          • Gmacr1

Moron, we’re the one’s paying for those “handouts”.
Stupidity really should be painful, you’d never stop screaming.

  • http://www.rustedsky.net JLawson

Both he and Soros are 81.  I think they both believe if they can just manage to stall off the tax man until they die, they’ll have ‘won’.

Soros, however, will probably have something set up to completely FUBAR the world economy with his passing.  “I’m dead?  Well, screw ya’ll, then.  We’ll SEE who laughs last.”

  • SoBeRight

Tea Party clowns, like Christie, got good at the 5 second sound bite.

Too bad the TP will get clobbered in the 2012 elections, and end up as nothing more than a historical footnote…. the clowns ran in — and the clowns were run out.

    • Sky__Captain

“Too bad the TP will get clobbered in the 2012 elections,…”

Just like they did in 2010, right?
I understand the demograhics in polls are running worse this year for the Demccrats than in 2010.

And just like the leftist denials runnng up to the November 2010 election…

      • SoBeRight

        Check the polls. You’re losing.

This was the GOP’s election – the WH was theirs – and they blew it.
