Media Ignores Warren Plagiarizing, Went Nuts Over Claims of Scott Brown’s

Michael Patrick Leahy detailed yet another twist to Elizabeth “Faux-Cahontis” Warren’s tale of fake American Indian claims. Apparently in 1984 Warren supplied several “old family recipes” to the “Pow Wow Chow cookbook,” edited by her cousin. Turns out these “family recipes” where just lifted from various cookbooks and newspaper articles of the era. She appears to have plagiarized them.

Will the media note that Warren plagiarized recipes from other cookbooks, claimed they were “family recipes,” and then signed them “Elizabeth Warren – Cherokee”? Probably not, but the Old Media went ga ga when they thought her opponent, Senator Scott Brown, plagiarized something.

For Warren’s part, Leahy notes that several of her “family recipes” were copied word-for-word from a New York Times News service piece published in 1979. Boston-based talk show host Howie Carr also found that several of her recipes appear to have been plagiarized. (Here, here, and here)

But recall the flap in October of 2011 when it was discovered that Brown’s website seemed to have a passage about ideals he was raised with that mirrored a similar passage from ex-Senator Elizabeth Dole’s website.

The explanation from Brown’s office was that they took the infrastructure of Dole’s website and plugged into it their own info when they created Brown’s site but that the section in question was merely transferred without undergoing any rewrite. It was an error by staffers, not plagiarism per se, they said.

Still, the old media went wild to report Brown’s apparent plagiarism. To name just a few, The Atlantic covered it, as did National Journal, the Associated Press did, so did all the networks and cablers. Web-based reporters also pumped the story. There were stories from Yahoo News and Huffington Post. Naturally all the far left websites such as Firedoglake and Daily Kos gleefully reported the story, too.

Thus far, Warren has offered no explanations at all for her word-for-word lifting of other recipes for her cousin’s cookbook project. Not surprisingly, the Old Media is silent about Warren’s newest shenanigans. I guess charges of plagiarism from a well-connected liberal aren’t as interesting as a mistake on a website made by a Republican’s staffers.

So Warren plagiarized?  So What? This is expected from an Affirmative action professor who is employed for the sole purpose of being the only “person of color” on the Harvard law faculty.  Her value isn’t found in her ability it is in which ethnicity boxes she checks.  Affirmative Action is about tolerating incompetence in order to present a veneer of diversity.

Yeah, I’m sure the media is all over this story.

They would be if they were 12 years old, anyway.

Hmmm,12year old mentality…let’s check, — yes, just as I thought.

    Nice post Todd.

You should really start your own blog.. Call it ‘Grumpy’s Dumping’s’ .. Now go clean your room or no Barney tonight.

    • Sky__Captain

Actually, Grumpy is way out of bounds with his attempt at distraction.

But then one does expect that from someone with a 12-year-old mentality – like Grumpy has…

You guys just don’t get it. Shes allowed to plagiarize because shes white. I mean Indian.

    • SCSIwuzzy

      You mean a democrat.

  • Gmacr1

    Meh, she’s so pedestrian.

Unlike the vice president who ripped off a speech by a politician in another country.

“… but the Old Media went ga ga when they thought her opponent, Senator Scott Brown, plagiarized something.”

Like when so many lefties went absolutely berserk when they said Cindy McCain palgiarized her cookie recipe?

Listen, I’ll use the same defense for Ms. Warren that I used for Ms. McCain.  There aren’t any more “unique” recipes out there.  They’re all copied to the greater degree.

Yes, I understand; it’s the double standard the media employs every single day.  But yeesh, there are some on our side of the aisle that really need to get a grip.  “Family Recipes” aren’t going to balance a budget or create jobs.  They should keep hammering Liz’s ridiculous remarks like how businessmen brought their goods to market on the roads “the rest of us paid for”.  THAT’s the sort of thing that should disqualify her completely.  She may have a high level of intellegence, but she sure isn’t very smart.

What do you mean “our side” kemosabe?

This is always my favorite reply on my media bias stories, that lame lament that we aren’t talking about “the issues” and this story is just one incident, anyway.

You know who needs to get a grip? Those who don’t seem to have the ability to see that this story is just one story of left-wing media bias in a day when we could find 100 OTHER stories of such media bias.

The point is, these incidents are not just one thing. They are a daily onslaught that happen in nearly every Old Media story nearly every single day. Andrew taught us to stop blowing off these stories of media bias, stop imagining they are inconsequential because taken as a whole it proves that the left owns the Old Media and the media is an ENEMY to American exceptionalism, an enemy we must constantly expose to get people to understand the Media’s underhanded tactics.

Further, it always cracks me up when some yutz comes on to whine that no one is covering this or that incident and then he notes that incident… and guess where he saw it? In the news, on the blogs, everywhere. If no one was ever talking about it, how did HE find out about it?

      • Oysteria

I think you both misunderstood me.  And got defensive.  There are some that are, yes, on our side of the aisle that are putting the emphasis on Ms. Warren’s alleged recipe theivery when I think it’s already been established that she has far more important shortcomings.  I stated that I knew the point was the media bias. I wanted to make sure you knew I understood your point.  I merely brought up something I’d been seeing on the web in regard to this story and some of the talk I’d personally heard.

So let me get defensive now.  I’m not some “yutz” who’s complaining about what’s been written here.  I wasn’t talking about you or your personal choice of topics, Mr. Huston.  I’ve felt quite welcome here for years.  Many years.  Longer than many who comment here regularly or write here.  But I’ve gotten a bit of snark lately I’m going to attribute to the stress I think we all feel over this election.  So I’m going to try and ignore it.

        • LiberalNightmare

Personally, I just wanted to use the kemosabe line.

OysteriaThere aren’t any more “unique” recipes out there.  They’re all copied to the greater degree.

I agree.  I would not be surprised to know that she really didn’t remember where she got the recipes in the first place.  Oh, she doubtless knew that she’d picked them up somewhere along the line, that she didn’t develop them herself, but couldn’t remember where.  I have recipes that I’ve copied from somebody else’s cookbook, recipes that have been clipped from magazines or other media over the years, etc., and I would be much puzzled to give them a proper citation if I had to.

I hasten to add, however, that MiniTru’s double standard, while not surprising, is ALWAYS worth noting.

OysteriaThey should keep hammering Liz’s ridiculous remarks like how businessmen brought their goods to market on the roads “the rest of us paid for”.  THAT’s the sort of thing that should disqualify her completely.  She may have a high level of intellegence, but she sure isn’t very smart.

I agree.  Grousing that Warren plagiarized recipes seems to me a losing proposition not only because it smacks of desperation and pettiness but also because it takes up time that could be spent talking about what a real loon this harridan is.

I add, however, that the Fauxcahontas angle IS worthwhile: this lilly-white woman has apparently been passing herself off for decades as a “minority”.  While it really demonstrates her lack of integrity, more importantly it demonstrates just how pernicious the entire “equal opportunity” system has become.

      • Oysteria

Well, crap. I hit something on my keyboard that erased all I had just typed. I’ll try again…

I agree on all your points.  But I think you at least undertsand I simply brought up an observation of my own.  I had no intention of downplaying Mr. Huston’s angle.  The media is in lockstep and they’re poisoning the discourse in this country.

There.  That was a lot less than I had said before an errant finger hit a bad key.

“I will be a One Term President if I do not fix this economy within 3 years”!  We can not agree more Mr. President.  Either you can resign or not run again because if you do, you will be defeated.  Move over Jimmy Carter, we have found your replacement for the worst of the worst Presidents and it is ………….YOU!
