Attempted Murder via SWAT Team

SLAPP Suits are bad. Harassment is bad. Faking a call to get SWAT to raid someone’s home? That’s Attempted Murder.

That’s what Brett Kimberlin’s (below left) accomplice, Ron Brynaert (below center), tried to do to a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney.

Convicted Bomber Brett Kimberlin, Neal Rauhauser, Ron Brynaert, and Their Campaign of Political Terrorism

By Patterico | Patterico’s Pontifications

In the last radio interview Andrew Breitbart ever gave, on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Breitbart talked about a new ruthless tactic used by thugs against political opponents:

[O]ne of the things they’ve done to people who have worked with me in the past, including an L.A. prosecutor, is to “SWAT.” That means that they’re spoofing phones, pretending to be somebody else’s phone, calling 911, and saying “I killed somebody” and then the person’s home is met with the guns drawn, the SWAT and the helicopters, in a horrifying act. It’s happened twice: once in New Jersey, once in Los Angeles, with an L.A. County . . . prosecutor who [is] associated with me.”

I am that L.A. County prosecutor. And in this post, you’ll hear the hoax call that sent police to my house, pointing loaded guns at me.

At 12:35 a.m. on July 1, 2011, sheriff’s deputies pounded on my front door and rang my doorbell. They shouted for me to open the door and come out with my hands up.

When I opened the door, deputies pointed guns at me and ordered me to put my hands in the air. I had a cell phone in my hand. Fortunately, they did not mistake it for a gun.

They ordered me to turn around and put my hands behind my back. They handcuffed me. They shouted questions at me: IS THERE ANYONE ELSE IN THE HOUSE? and WHERE ARE THEY? and ARE THEY ALIVE?

I told them: Yes, my wife and my children are in the house. They’re upstairs in their bedrooms, sleeping. Of course they’re alive.

Deputies led me down the street to a patrol car parked about 2-3 houses away. At least one neighbor was watching out of her window as I was placed, handcuffed, in the back of the patrol car. I saw numerous patrol cars on my quiet street. There was a police helicopter flying overhead, shining a spotlight down on us as I walked towards the patrol car. Several neighbors later told us the helicopter woke them up. I saw a fire engine and an ambulance. A neighbor later told me they had a HazMat vehicle out on the street as well.

Meanwhile, police rushed into my home. They woke up my wife, led her downstairs and to the front porch, frisked her, and asked her where the children were. Then police ordered her to stand on the front porch with her hands against the wall while they entered my children’s bedrooms to make sure they were alive.

The call that sent deputies to my home was a hoax. Someone had pretended to be me. They called the police to say I had shot my wife. The sheriff’s deputies who arrived at my front door believed they were about to confront an armed man who had just shot his wife. I don’t blame the police for any of their actions. But I blame the person who made the call.

Because I could have been killed.

Please read the whole thing.  Then start asking questions, such as:

Why are these criminals being supported by The Tides Foundation, the Streisand Foundation, and the Heinz Foundation?

Why has the FBI made no arrests more than nine months after the attempted murder?

Why hasn’t this been mentioned in the LSM or the Sinstrosphere?

Why have such tactics been allowed to flourish?

This is where I say that leftist silence with regard to this behavior is nothing less than approval. It is being done in the name of leftist ideals and goals and if they are willing to profit by this without speaking out, then they are complicit with it.

    • jim_m

On another thread it was suggested that some of our lefties would be against the terrorist behavior from the dem campaign machine, but as we see below Chico has come out in full apologist mode, denying and distracting from the point and BruceHenry is right behind him up voting his comments.

There are no moderate leftists.  They all back thuggish means of gaining and holding power.  They have no problem with associating with criminals and terrorists if that is what it takes to win this election n November.

      • herddog505

It really seems as though you were right and I was wrong.  I… I… I’m really stunned.

        • jim_m

Never underestimate how little respect the left has for human life and human rights.

        • Commander_Chico

My point is: if these things happened as these bloggers say, and there is proof, then criminal charges should be filed.

Some bogus digital lynch mob where all right-wing bloggers attack these other nutballs is silly.  Skepticism is in order.

          • jim_m

Go read some of the articles. You are making an ass of yourself.

          • That is hardly a news flash hereabouts…

  • GarandFan

“It was a JOKE, man!  Don’t you have a sense of humor?”

  • Commander_Chico

One thing missing from this post: any evidence of who actually made the spoof 911 call.

One thing about stories like this: people point fingers and it turns out to be a resentful co-worker, jilted lover, or the waiter that got stiffed on the tip.

But let’s not let the lack of facts get in the way of attacking the lovely Barbara Streisand.

    • cirby

You didn’t read the article, did you?

“Here’s the thing: Brynaert was talking to me on the phone when the police came to my house. That is something that the FBI in Dallas also told me fits the M.O. of a swatter.”

      • Commander_Chico

As was said in Plan 9 From Outer Space:  That proves it!

        • cirby

So you’re taking your usual tack of “ignore the actual article, and demand evidence, then post stupid crap when someone points out the evidence,” then?

          Not a surprise.

          • jim_m

Chica is the kind of person I’m talking about.  He will never condemn it.  He will excuse it or weasel his way around it, but e will never condemn it because it advances the agenda he desires.

          • Noticed that, have you?

          • Evil Otto

Chica gets his jollies being a contrarian. If we’re “fer” it, he’s “agin” it. If we’re agin it, he’s fer it. He doesn’t actually give a damn about this situation, the use of the SWAT team, any of it. The very fact that it’s here and we’re on one side requires him to argue against us.

          • Jwb10001

You call what Chico did here arguing?

          • Evil Otto

            Point taken.

          • If chicka were not permitted to argue from a position of ignorance he’d not be allowed to argue at all…

            Hmmm.  There’s a thought!

        • Commandante,

          Occam’s Razor

          • Commander_Chico

Occam’s Razor could also apply to a jilted lover.  We have one version of the facts, but don’t know all of the facts about the people involved in this tempest in a teapot.

          • jim_m

No Occam’s razor says that if you listen to the tapes and it sounds like Brynaert, and an independant expert says that it sounds like Brynaert, then it probably is Brynaert.

            Fascist idiot.

    • Gmacr1

“One thing about stories like this: people point fingers and it turns out to be a resentful co-worker, jilted lover, or the waiter that got stiffed on the tip.”

Ummm, no it doesn’t, in fact it never has. This is a tactic of hackers, and the black hat hackers at that. Do try to line up your facts, read the article and then comment.

  • From the linked article (which chicka couldn’t be bothered to click on or read):

I pushed and pushed for law enforcement to do a forensic comparison of Brynaert’s voice to that of the swatter. I found an interview of Brynaert online,
so there was a ready sample for comparison. But they wouldn’t do it. (I
was constantly frustrated by the failure of law enforcement to follow
up on what seemed like obvious leads. More about that at a future date.)

So I decided to hire my own expert.

Kent Gibson is a forensic voice identification expert. He has done work for the FBI and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the Los Angeles County Public Defender. He is court-qualified in Los Angeles Superior Court. He is a Yale and Stanford graduate who has had extensive experience in audio work. He is the expert hired by the mother of Mel Gibson’s children to authenticate angry recordings that Mel Gibson left on her answering machine.

I first approached Kent in August 2011, but at the time I was still
trying to convince law enforcement to do the comparison themselves. By
January 2012 I had given up on law enforcement. I sent Kent my swatting
call; the swatting call from New Jersey; a call to BlogTalkRadio that
sounded like the swatter; and the Ron Brynaert interview.

The following quote is from Kent Gibson’s declaration, sent to me on February 25, 2012:

In this case the following files were presented for evaluation: Tag names for these four recordings are shown in BOLD.
The[y] represent calls from two Swat Hoax cases, one involving Patrick
Frey and one involving Mike Stack [the man from New Jersey — ed.].
G-8025959 FREY SWAT – Call made to 911 claiming a shooting at Mr. Frey’s residence on 7/1/2011 at 12:16 AM. Caller impersonates Patrick Frey.
Stack Call – STACK SWAT – Call made to police dispatch in Readington, New Jersey. 6/23/2011 Caller impersonates Mike Stack.
Ron Brynaert Interview.mp3 – BRYNAERT KNOWN – an internet radio interview. This caller is suspected of being the Swat caller re: Frey.
Lee Call-in Radio Show – LEE KNOWN (Lee is interviewer’s name, not caller.) This caller is suspected of being the Swat caller re: Stack.
    . . . .
CONCLUSION: Considering all of the evidence presented, it is my expert forensic examiner opinion that it is probable that all voice samples come from the same person.

In other words, it is the opinion of an expert forensic examiner that
Ron Brynaert’s voice is probably the voice of the man on my swatting
call. A call that could have gotten me killed.

    • 914

I guess that makes chika a Hollywierd liberal. .

    • Commander_Chico

Funny thing, hired experts often come to the conclusion they suspect their employers want.

      • herddog505

Yes, as many of us pointed out when lefties were trying to assert that the testimony of some “experts” PROVED that it was Martin screaming for help.  Then, of course, there was the pathetic attempt to tell us that his mother’s testimony was the clincher.

But I admit that you’ve got a point: the testimony of an expert paid by Patterico isn’t conclusive.  I wonder why the cops are so disinterested?  Shouldn’t you and your fellow lefties be demanding the same investigation, the same JUSTICE, that you did for Trayvon?

Or does “justice” only matter when it’s NOT a conservative who’s allegedly being victimized?

        • Commander_Chico

This story is about a pack of obscure nutballs ranting at each other. There are no dead bodies.

The reason why the police are so uninterested is because nobody’s been hurt or killed, and there is not enough evidence to charge anyone.

This is all about a couple of bloggers enlisting their buddies to rant and rave about their enemies on the internet.  Could anything be less consequential?

          • McGehee

            There are no dead bodies.

Read again the part about how the cops had their guns pointed at Frey because of Brynaert’s phony 911 call. Then Google “Speedway Bomber,” you lazy piece of excrement.

          • More like a whole sack full of excrement is chicka.

          • Commander_Chico

It’s a sad commentary on the paramilitary police when SWAT teams are equated to attempted murder.

Here’s a map of botched SWAT raids in the USA over the last years:

          • jim_m

Yeah, because it is totally safe to have a SWAT team charge into your house in the middle of the night.  Just ask Jose Guerena.  Oops.  Sorry. You can’t because they MURDERED HIM!

          • Commander_Chico

Right, that is my point.  SWAT teams are overused and dangerously trigger-happy

          • jim_m

But sending a SWAT team into someone’s home is just a harmless prank if it is the home of a conservative with whom you disagree.

So, yes, sending a SWAT team into someone’s home does amount to attempted murder when you are doing it with the intent to harm.

          • jim_m

Face it.  A-holes like chica are quite content to run interference for the thugs that will advance his agenda and relieve him of the personal responsibility of having to blow someone’s house up.

No amount of evidence will be sufficient to convince him that this domestic terrorist is behind this.  No matter what evidence is put forward it will only ever be a coincidence that those who talk about Kimberlin’s past end up getting this treatment.

Chica will never admit that.  You could get a confession from Kimberlin and his associates and Chica would find some way to claim it was coerced.

          • JerzeyGeorge

The story you Asshat is about a small group of despicable scumbags who are attempting to destroy individuals based on political ideology.
“The reason why the police are so uninterested is because nobody’s been hurt or killed, and there is not enough evidence to charge anyone.”
Such stupidity on display. You obviously have not read anything about this, You do not expend assets just for shits and grins. You think the police have nothing better to do but a midnight false alarm raid. Call the Fire dept and report a false alarm and see how fast your ass ends up in jail when caught.
What disgusts Me is your pathetic attempt to even try to reconcile this in any shape or form.
The voice print analysis, the disgusting post’s, the attempt , all should be enough for a conspiracy investigation, or civil rights violation.

      • LiberalNightmare

you mean like the Trayvon Martin case?

  • Right now, attempts to access Patterico’s Pontifications yields the message,
    “Error establishing a database connection”.
DDOS attack?  Or server dying under an instalanche?

    •  The rest of the page is now accessible.  Only when I try to pull up comments or the page for the post itself (with comments) do I get that error message.  Maybe it’s just very heavy demand.

  • Guest

Looks like he got passed around quite a bit in prison.

  • jim_m

They’ve started a relief fund for Kimberlin’s most recent victims.

    • Commander_Chico

I recommend you all dig deep and give generously.

      • jim_m

Well Kimberlin certainly doesn’t need it.  He gets his funding from the Tides Foundation

        • Commander_Chico

Well, that is dumb, too.  He looks like a con-man, to say the least.

          • Walter_Cronanty

If your definition of a con-man includes a terrorist bomber, you’re right.  Good Lord, Chico, why are you making an ass of yourself over this piece of crap?  I used to think you had some integrity, but yikes, you’ve lost all credibility on this thread.

          • herddog505

  • Evil Otto

This was on Beck this morning. Millions are now aware of what this evil little man, Kimberlin, is doing. It reminds me of this scene from The Avengers:
Loki: What have I to fear?
Tony Stark: The Avengers. It’s what we call ourselves, sort of like a team. “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” type thing.
    Loki: Yes, I’ve met them.
Tony Stark: Yeah. Takes us a while to get any traction, I’ll give you that one but, let’s do a head count here. Your brother, the demi-god; a super soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend; a man with breath-taking anger management issues; a couple of master assassins, and you, big fella, you’ve managed to piss off every single one of them.
    Loki: That was the plan.
Tony Stark: Not a great plan. When they come, and they will, they’ll come for you.
    Loki: I have an army.
Tony Stark: We have a Hulk.
Loki: I thought the beast had wandered off.
Tony Stark: You’re missing the point. There’s no throne. There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it’s too much for us but it’s all on you. Because if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we’ll avenge it.

There is no version of this where Kimberlin comes out on top.

    • From your keyboard to the Creator’s display.

    • jim_m

Like most efforts of totalitarian intimidation this only works if the victims remain silent.  The internet makes it increasingly difficult to enforce silence.  Once people start speaking out and realize that they are not alone and that others will stand with them the spell is broken.

What will interesting is to see when the Museum of Leftist History Wikipedia will allow this domestic terrorist’s Wikipedia entry to be reposted to tell everyone of his crimes.

      • Preference cascade.

I do believe we’re seeing one.  Once you can no longer shame the opposition, they’ll say what they’re thinking.  You can’t stifle objections to Obama’s policies by screaming “Racism” any more…

Which might be why Obama was looking for some sort of ‘kill switch’ for the internet.  A despot (or wannabe despot) can’t allow dissent to spread.

  • McGehee

Let’s find out if it’s safe for me to drop a 500-pound chunk of steel on your head. If you survive, reality proves it’s safe.

  • McGehee

He just requires proof rather than letting his hate run wild.

    Unlike you.

Which may be why he doesn’t get banned.

    Unlike you.

    • jim_m

Chico has his proof if he’s willing to read a couple of other blogs that have already been linked to here.  This is simply apology for a terrorist.  The problem with the left is that they are benefiting from Kimberlin’s ugly tactics and they are too interested in that benefit to foreswear the methods being used to gain that benefit.

Look at the OWS movement.  The left loves that, but they will never acknowledge the violence that it perpetrates.  They pretend that the people who commit the bridge bombings, rapes and murders and other acts are not related to OWS even though the evidence says that they are connected.  They maintain this fantasy that somehow the personality that commits the crime is separate from the personality that protests even though both personalities are housed in the same person.

When the left starts to get honest about the criminals they use to advance their agenda I will give them credit for it, but I have little fear that I will have to do so anytime soon.

  • jim_m

Gee, what do you know?  Bloggers writing about Bret Kimberlin are now being SWATed.

Perhaps this was Chico’s responsibility.  He seems to think it a harmless prank.
