NBC Claims Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Is A Depressed Drunk

Last week we wondered where Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. was. We speculated that he was probably in rehab. Tonight NBC’s Andrea Mitchell is reporting that is exactly where he is. According to Mitchell, friends and colleagues say he is being treated for alcoholism and depression at a facility in Arizona.

CBS, and Jackson’s family are claiming it’s just a “mood disorder.”

    The cognitive dissonance – it can really get to a man after a while. You turn to drink, but that’s not enough. You understand that your only worth is as Jesse’s son – and that folks have given you all you’ve got just for that… not any real accomplishment you’ve ever made. And you’ve got to keep up the family business of rabble-rousing, when you’d much rather be anywhere else.

    Poor sap. This may be his only way out of what he’s locked into…

      It’s a lot of work running around throwing out the race card every day. I’ll bet he’s wishing daddy would have gotten him one of those lucrative liquor distributorships like he did for his brothers Jonathan and Yusef.

    In recent weeks speculation has swirled about the possible reason for Jackson’s absence. The congressman has endured a difficult time over the past several years. He is the target of a probe by the House Ethics Committee into possible wrongdoing in how President Barack Obama’s Senate seat — now held by Kirk — was filled. Only days before he left Congress on medical leave, a former fundraiser for Jackson, Raghuveer Nayak, was arrested by the FBI on charges of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to doctors.

    In addition, Jackson has faced turmoil at home. Last year his wife Sandi revealed that Jackson had engaged in an extramarital affair. She too has yet to provide any details about her husband’s condition.

    Driven to drink? Depressed because his phoney-baloney job may be in jeopardy either because his wife might NOT do the Hillary thing or because a federal prosecutor may be wanting to have a chat with him?

    MiniTru MIGHT get around to finding out, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. They’ve go more important work to do, like editting clips of Mitt Romney to make him look racist, out of touch, stupid, etc.

    Michael Moynihan raises a good point:

    Need I point out that Jackson is employed by his constituents, most of who cannot simply disappear from their jobs for a month without explanation?

    What middle-aged guy isn’t a depressed drunk once in awhile? Except for the ones who have already been to rehab. They’re just depressed.
