Michelle Obama Is Running Her Own Campaign – It Takes One

The Washington Post is reporting that First Lady Michelle Obama is striking out on her own separately branded campaign this election.

Michelle Obama, who has defined herself in the White House as mom in chief, has become a cheerleader-in-chief for her husband’s reelection campaign. This Friday she will launch an unusual campaign within the Obama campaign, which aides have dubbed “It Takes One.”

The program centers on organizing voter turnout and building neighborhood teams to work for President Obama’s reelection.

The first lady’s effort acknowledges a critical question looming over the 2012 race: Can Obama’s campaign revive its grassroots organization, which drew record numbers to mass rallies during the 2008 campaign?

“In the end it could all come down to those last few voters in a single state,” the first lady says in the video. “That one conversation you have, that one new volunteer you recruit, that could be the difference between waking up on November 7th and feeling the promise of four more years or asking yourself, ‘Could I have done more?’ ”

The increased role for Michelle Obama gives her a position that other first ladies have not had — overseer of her own branded reelection initiative.

It’s also a tacit admission that the First Lady is far more popular than her husband, and that his chances of energizing a grassroots super power like he did in 2008 have waned.

What she really means is “It Takes (The) One.”

Moochelle as “the Mom in Chief”???

    Seriously?

The woman alternates hypocritical nagging and hectoring about our national eating habits with vacations that most moms can only dream about (who WOULDN’T want to load dozens of her friends on Air Force One and head to Spain for a five-star resort vacation?). And she’s the Mom in Chief?

No, no bias in the WaPo. Nossir, not a bit of it.

Agreed. They think she is popular? Put her out on the campaign trail with her antagonistic, “I know better than you do about what you need” attitude and watch her ratings go into free fall. She’s popular because she gets no screen time. Former employers have characterized her as abrasive and entitled. That’s not going to persuade people who are on the fence.

What would be funny is if this campaign has her speaking in nearly empty rooms. Then the headline could be “Michelle Obama brings her message, ‘It Takes One’ — to no one.”

Here’s my take: if it takes (the) One, they’re done.

Everyone who wants/needs work but can’t find employment knows The One’s record when it comes to creating a business friendly environment. The Obama O symbolizes zerO.

Michelle can community organize all she wants but she’s going to have a hard time selling The One based on his record.

P.S. Nice messaging to your most ardent supporters: “If Barack can’t get re-elected it’s your fault.”

    It doesn’t take a village?

Were talking Moochelle here, so it takes a village idiot!

Well, we were promised ‘Hope and Change”.

Now she’s promising 4 more years? Oh, that’d be… great.

They really hate us, don’t they?

Americans did not build the greatest nation on the face of the earth! Someone else did that!

    Barack Soetoro (Hussein) O’taxa!

I was not aware the position of First Lady is an elected office.

She could do better in November than Barack — after all, as C-3PO advised…
