Offensive: Obama Selling Obamaized U.S. Flag Prints

Some feel that President Obama is an arrogant sort of fellow. A quick look at the Obama store section of his campaign website might tend to substantiate that feeling when finding the Obamaized U.S. flag print that team Obama is selling there.

(Click image to see a screen shot of the Obama store webpage)

Does this sort of arrogance offend you? If it doesn’t it should at least make you raise your eyebrow. How gauche is it that Obama is putting his own Madison Avenue-like, branded logo on a U.S. flag?

What patriotic American would put his own logo on a U.S. flag? It just doesn’t seem right, does it? I mean, remaking the flag in his own image is quite a thing, isn’t it?

And what is the most arrogant part of it all? Notice that all the stars in the flag have been replaced by the Obama logo? That’s right, there ARE NO STATES in Obamaland. We are all just part of the Messiah himself, Barack Hussein Obama.

The stripes are just those left by Americans dragged to their deaths by the incompetence and indifference of obama.

  • Andy Mayberry

Wow. Does it get any more tacky/frightening than that?

    • retired.military

Did you see the youtube video “have a yard sale for Barrack” ?
To quote Obama “Yes it can”

      • Andy Mayberry

Yikes. Hard for me to be surprised by Obama though. The guy has an invite from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss urgent foreign affairs and he chooses to ham it up with a rapper and a talk show host instead.

        • http://www.rustedsky.net JLawson

          Man’s gotta have priorities…

Obama’s getting the good stuff (as he sees it) while he can. Who’s going to say ‘No’ to the President, after all?

All that other stuff in the ME? It can wait.

          • herddog505

Hey, who WOULDN’T want to go to a party where the champagne fountain alone cost twice the average US family income?

Now that we have the papacy, let us enjoy it.

  • herddog505

    L’état, c’est moi

  • Vagabond661

Is it ok to burn that flag?

    • http://www.rustedsky.net JLawson

Free speech, baby. Gotta love it!

  • GarandFan

It’s ALL about BARRY, ALL the time.

  • Carl

yeah – you could always be like Mittens and choose the flag of another nation instead of the American flag..,

    or…

    • jim_m

Ignorant ass. Boats fly the flags of the country they are registered in.

    • Vagabond661

Oh man and his dog is on the roof!

    • PBunyan

Yeah, the thing is Reagan didn’t hate the United States and try to “fundamentally transform” it into something it was never meant to be. Under Reagan people like the people in Obama’s camp were the enemy in the cold war that Reagan won.
That’s why it’s tacky. It doesn’t really offend me though. It’s just hypocritical which is not surprising.

      • http://www.rustedsky.net JLawson

“Fundamental transformation”…. I love that phrase.

Perfectly appropriate whether its toast left in the toaster too long, or a Ferrari wrapped around a telephone pole.

For a country, however – Iran was fundamentally transformed after Khomeini. Iraq was fundamentally transformed after Saddam refused to comply with UN sanctions. Greece’s economy has fundamentally transformed into a wreck, and the EU’s in a fundamentally transformative economic mess.

So when you’re talking about ‘fundamental transformation’, I think it needs to be shown that the result won’t be worse than what you started with…

        • PBunyan

He never said into what he planned to transform our country and the press sure as hell is trying to keep it a secret. You have to read between the lines.

      • Carl

Yeah, those communists, right? Like Obama – the President who presided over a 100% increase in the stock market during his term.

        Damn socialists…

        • jim_m

Yeah, when you depreciate the dollar by printing 3 trillion new ones the money has to go somewhere. The dollar price of the stockmarket goes up but the value doesn’t. By the same measures used during the Carter admin we are experiencing double digit inflation already.

          • Carl

The dollar devalued significantly more during Bush’s last 3 years than it did during Obama’s first three years.

And today we’re using the same measures used during the Bush administration.

weak sauce, jimmy. Getting tired from spreading bullshit 100 times a day on this blog? I know you’re preaching to a bunch of idiots who don’t know the difference, but doesn’t reality penetrate every once and a while? You know, shining a light on your lies?

          • jim_m

Really? Inflation (which is the real basis to evaluate the value of the dollar and not the exchange rate since exchange rates reflect the strength of foreign currencies too) was significantly lower under Bush. Obama has dramatically increased the money supply. If we do not see runaway inflation now we will in the not too distant future.

Look at what the real inflation rate has been under obama and go find me where it was the same under Bush.

        • PBunyan

          What Jim_M said.
You are the perfect example of what people like Obama and his ideological forefather Lenin called “useful idiots”.

          • SCSIwuzzy

Useful? I have a door that needs propping open, I suppose he could handle the job…

          • Carl

lol. Jim lies and Bunyan steps and agrees with him.

That would make you an un-useful idiot, my friend.

      • TomInCali

It’s just hypocritical which is not surprising.

So in a post about how bad it is to replace part of the flag with a political logo, you first state that it’s OK if you’re Reagan, and then accuse others of being hypocritical?

        • PBunyan

My point wasn’t that it was o.k. only for Reagan (or Republicans). I think it’s o.k. for anyone to use the flag like that as long as they love America*, but it’s hypocritical for those who, like Obama, are working to destroy (fundamentally transform) America.
But really since Obama is fundamentally transforming America into if Marxist dictatorship and we no longer have the rule of law, but rather the rule of man, maybe we should retire Old Glory and instead replace it with Obama’s flag. Or the hammer and sicle which would be even more appropriate.
*for instance, I think this is a excellent use of it.

          • TomInCali

So it’s OK to use the flag as their logo if you approve of them, but not OK if you don’t approve of them. You need to look up “hypocritical” in the dictionary.

          • PBunyan

No, what I said was it’s ok to use the flag if you love America, but hypocritical if you want to destroy America. It has nothing to do with my approval.
You need to look up “idiot” in the dictionary. There’s a picture of you.

    • http://www.wizbangblog.com David Robertson

If you had paid attention to the details of that ABC News story, then you would know that Governor Romney does not own that particular yacht.

Also, Jim is correct. As the ABC News story says, that yacht is registered in the Cayman Islands. Thus, it flies the flag of the Cayman Islands.

Quite frankly, I don’t see how the owner of that particular yacht did anything different in comparison to John Kerry.

From the Huffington Post: “John Kerry Saves $500,000 By Docking 76-Foot Luxury Yacht Out Of State”.

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/23/john-kerry-saves-500000-b_n_656985.html

As for that shirt with President Reagan’s image on an American flag, do you have evidence that such a shirt was in existence when Reagan ran for the presidency? If it did, then was is used by the Reagan campaign? To be fair, I think that it’s wrong to have Reagan’s image on the American flag.

    • 914

      You idiot!!

    • SCSIwuzzy

So someone hosted a fundraiser party on a boat that is registered in the Caymans, and that is what you want to hold against Romney? Weak sauce senior Sock.
Should we criticize the use of Champagne rather than sparkling wine from NY, CA or PA?

It could have been worse I suppose. At least it wasn’t a Russian naval ship…

Or a ship built in New Zealand and then ported in Rhode Island to avoid a 6 figure tax bill…

Or does it only matter when the supporter of a politician does something like that, but not when an actual politician does it? Or are you more concerned with party affiliation than realities?

  • LiberalNightmare

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Flag_Code

The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed, or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs,
napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary
use. Advertising signs should not be attached to the staff or halyard.

The flag must not be marked with any insignia, letter, word, signature, picture or drawing.

    • SCSIwuzzy

Well, I do think it is reasonable to use the flag in advertisements to sell flags…

  • http://www.wizbangblog.com David Robertson

I agree with Warner on this topic. No part of the American flag should be replaced with a politician’s logo. I’d be against such a thing even if the logo pertained to a Republican.

    • http://www.rustedsky.net JLawson

Fully agree. It shouldn’t be used like that.

  • 914

The first flag I will gladly burn !!

    • http://www.rustedsky.net JLawson

Wouldn’t pay $35 for it, though. Now, if they printed it on a roll of toilet paper, I might buy one roll for shits and giggles…

  • TomInCali

    Have you guys forgotten something?

    Anything?

What patriotic American would put his own logo on a U.S. flag? It just
doesn’t seem right, does it? I mean, remaking the flag in his own image
is quite a thing, isn’t it?

    Indeed.

Have you actually run out of reasonable things to be upset about?

  • Commander_Chico_Cognoscente

Fortunately I have these images saved from the last incidence of fake Warner flag outrage.

Warner does focus on the trivial, doesn’t he? Could not discuss a policy issue if his next meal depended on it. And he likes his meals a lot.

  • herddog505

I have to admit that, as unsettling as I find Barry’s flag to be, our resident lefties have a point: Old Glory is and has been often used in political advertizing, so there really is nothing to see here.

  • http://twitter.com/2905 Chipmunk

Rules for using the flag actually oppose using the flag for commercial purposes and also ban using the flag on clothing, and for advertising. Problem is, it’s not enforced, nor part of statute in law. This flag I’d burn and THIS use of the flag is pathetic. What’s next, the Obamunist’s picture in the star field? Next step is dictatorship and bow down to the leader for life.

    • TomInCali

What’s next, the Obamunist’s picture in the star field?

Isn’t that Michael reagan? I don’t think he is running for office. and last time I checked, Lincoln is still dead.

        • TomInCali

So now you’ve forgotten what Ronald Reagan looks like? LOL! And it’s nice to know that your criteria for flag outrage is whether the subject is dead or not. Though you should know that that flag was in use by Lincoln’s campaign while he was still alive.

          • Vagabond661

dude that doesn’t even look like him to me. looks like someone at daily kos photoshopped it. this one is better:
            http://www.openaircinema.us/blog/2008/simi-valley-california-ronald-reagan-outdoor-movies-inflatable-screen/

          • Vagabond661

so Lincoln used it. he also watched plays and had a beard. not sure of your point there chuckles.

          • TomInCali

Not only don’t you recognize Reagan, but you also apparently can’t remember (or read) your own posts from several hours before.

          • Vagabond661

when did you create that? the obama flag at least comes from his own website. you just put up some clip art from the daily kos and say gothcha?

          • jim_m

What is creepy is the new obama flag combined with the simultaneous campaign theme of pledging allegiance to obama. It’s more cult of personality for the election.

      • warnertoddhuston

It’s a bit ridiculous to compare election campaigns of 150 years ago to todays. Today candidates CONTROL their campaign and its imagery. Back then they had almost NO control. Lincoln did not control the imagery his fans and surrogates used. On the other hand THIS Obama flag was FROM Obama’s own office.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dwayne.richardson1 Dwayne Fishbone Richardson

Faux outrage… Folks would rather waste time on this, but sit on their hands when the veterans jobs bill was killed by the very GOP senators that wrote it. The height of hypocrisy!
