The Journal News Editor Cyndee Royle Is Now “Protecting” Herself

When The Journal News published a listing of gun owners in the New York counties of Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam, readers and denizens of the interwebs were downright perturbed.

One site, For What It’s Worth, turned the tables on Journal News Editor Cyndee Royle and the rest of her staff by publishing their public records. Robert Cox even created an interactive map of the FWIW data, just like the one that The Journal News published.

Looks like the anger directed at Cyndee Royle Lambert (her married name) has caused the woman who so proudly noted the protests as some sort of badge of honor is pulling back from the web.

Her private Facebook page is down, her Twitter account is protected, and her work Facebook account is over-run by commenters chastising her.

Karma’s a bitch…

There’s a Facebook page urging CynDee to remove the map

Ahhh, life is good! I do believe in Santa Claus, I do!!!

Good for the goose, good for the gander.
That being said, acting like a lib is so… icky. One really has to put his moral values right in the toilet.

    • jim_m

It is not illegal to possess a permit or necessarily to own a handgun. Royle is trying to make gun owners into criminals and is treating them like criminals. Her act is an act of intimidation.

Acts of intimidation can be illegal. I this light we can view the publishing the names and addresses of Royle and her coworkers co-conspirators is an act of self defense against a perceived threat of violence.

It is not sufficient to lay down and sooth ourselves by claiming moral superiority while their bullying tactics strip us of our rights. If they are going to threaten the homes and families of law abiding citizens in order to advance their agenda then they need to be exposed. As far as I am concerned they have set themselves up as enemies of freedom, using intimidation to strip us of our constitutional rights.

I’ll go further: she’s in the same company with goons who painted “Juden” on shop windows and made people sew yellow Stars of David and pink triangles to their clothes so people could know at a glance that they were the “wrong people”… and act accordingly.

For The Children(TM), of course. The Aryan children…

The left has always had an end justifies the means mentality. If we want to fight them, ultimately we have to play by their rules.

      • jim_m

Alinski says to make the opponent play by their own rules. This is a good example of using their own tactics against them. If they think intimidation is appropriate then they should consider if they want the same for their families. I sure as hell wouldn’t.

  • Cindy Johnson

Ms, Royle since you don’t seem to have a problem publishing people’s addresses simply because they have either applied or purchased a gun I think it’s only fair you publish YOUR address. I actually have been able to to find it but, I’ll leave it to you to publish it as an act of fairness. btw, I found it on a legal webiste and if others google your name, they can also find it. I also believe in gun control, I don’t own a gun, and I would never, ever wish any unhappiness to you or your family. But you have put others in danger without any thought given to their families. Turn about is fair play. Publish your address! Owning a gun is not illegal and what you did was repugnant. The worst part is you did it simply to get publicity for your paper. That in itself tells me you care nothing about other peoples families. Especially their children.

    • Ollie

please publish her address , I’d like her to feel the heat of her irresponsible hiding behind her lucrative job, protected by bodyguards, this sick bastard needs to be exposed as she thinks it is so important to reveal the gun owners law abiding 2nd amendment right to carry arms citizens, that fought and died for her rights to print this crap, disgusting, she need to feel some heat

  • jim_m

She’s getting better than she deserves. She’s discovering that the reason the NRA is so powerful is because it really does speak for millions of Americans, people who are law abiding and are not mass murderers and do not deserve to be treated as criminals like she is trying to do.

She claims that “people” have the right to know where the gun owners are. Sorry but gun ownership is legal. By the same token I could say that people deserve to know where all the abortionists are and publish their names and addresses (after all the people have a right to know!). If I did so I would probably be put on the FBI terrorist watch list.

Private citizens who have committed no crime do not deserve to have their names published for the purposes of shaming them or intimidation. That is the sole purpose of her act. I hope that she finds this every bit as shaming and intimidating as she intended her own action.

    She should buy a gun.

    • PhilipVanCleave

Oh, there is a very good possibility she has one. Don’t ever underestimate the hypocrisy of the anti-liberty crowd. All she would have had to do was to pull her own information from that gun owners database and publish the rest of it. I deal with these kind of people regularly here in Virginia. It’s OK for them to have a gun because they are so much more important than the rest of us.

  • creedwait

Perhaps we should publish Ms Royle’s itinerary. When she leaves the house, when she returns, who is at home when she is gone, where she stays when traveling. Publish her travel schedule. Put up notices about when her home is unattended or when there are no adults in the home. Maybe then she would understand why and how her choices do not constitute journalism. No one should harm her, her family or or property. No one, ever. But publishing her personal itinerary would help her see both sides of this issue.

    • jim_m

She hasn’t gone that far so I think that would be inappropriate. But she has said that she still wants to get the information of how many and what types of guns are owned by permit holders. If she were to do that I would suggest that publishing the make, model, description and license plate of every vehicle that she and her staff own would be a comparable action. After all, how do we know whether they drive sober? We have a right to know.

      • creedwait

A snippy letter to the editor will not enlighten but will only feed her need for attention. She needs to personally understand both sides of this debate.

        • herddog505

I doubt that she’s capable of understanding. No doubt she feels much persecuted because people are doing to her… exactly what she’s done to other people.

      • retired.military

I want to know the size and type of every knife she has in her house. After all some knives are illegal and are intended for military purposes.
The public has a right know.

  • ih8ut

She put innocent lives at risk… this is worst than mass killing…. It’s like germans hunting for jews.

    • sarah stein

Actually she did hunt jews. See the names in the Monsey section of the map.

      • ih8ut

…Fountain adds that the newspaper may have inadvertently revealed the identities of citizens in hiding. He says, “I’ve received emails from abused women who were under protective order and in hiding and they’re terribly afraid that now their names and addresses are all over the Internet and accessible through that map.”….

  • Carl Gardner

Publishing the names and addresses of permit holders was irresponsible and dangerous. How would you like the names and addresses of your employees and their families plastered all over the internet? People may lose their lives or property due to your bad choices. This is bad journalism. Sensationalism trying to pass for something relevant.

What she did was over the top and very dangerous. You don’t post someone’s name and address on a story that is so negative and volatile because you never know how that information will be used.

I’m glad you posted the personal info on the staff at that newspaper so they can get a taste of their own medicine. I hope all newspapers hear about this info being leaked and think twice about doing this in the future…well done sir.

  • jim_m

A Journalism think tank in Florida has come out against the publication of the names of gun permit holders.

Roy Clark, a senior scholar at the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based journalism think tank, told the Associated Press that the online map pinpointing gun owners’ homes was comparable to a sex-offender registry. “You get the connotation that somehow there’s something essentially wrong with this behavior,” he said. “My predisposition is to support the journalism; I want to be persuaded that this story or this practice has some higher social purpose, but I can’t find it.”

This lady is out on her own. Even her own profession is deserting her.

It is so disgusting for the liberals to use the deaths of those poor children to push their agenda. The mental freaks on the left need to vacate the USA. You don’t deserve to live here.

Actions based on emotions often erode civil rights. To step back from tragedy and gather fact, then consider the grand scope of things, is better strategy. I’ll not allow the overreactions of emotional liberals to steal my rights go uncompensated.

Some of these gun owners are in hiding from stalkers and abusive spouses. Some may even be on witness protection list. Publishing their names and addresses may be a violation of the Witness Protection program and should be investigated by the Justice Department. But since Obama is against guns, he will ignore it just like he ignored Benghzi. All anyone has to do is to not buy this paper and to boycott it’s sponsors and advertiser. The only way to hurt them is to cut their revenue. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right.
