Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge is now reporting the following:
The Obama administration has agreed to provide emails pertaining to the controversial CIA talking points which critics say pushed an inaccurate picture of what happened during the terror attack last September in Benghazi, a congressional source tells Fox News.
“We expect that will be done early next week,” the source said, adding the administration has agreed to the Senate Intelligence Committee’s request to review the emails.
For the sake of argument, suppose that the e-mails reveal that the Libya talking points were indeed changed in an effort to bolster President Obama’s chance to be reelected.
If that were the case, then what?
The presidential election is over and cannot be undone. As for the people who gave those talking points to the public, those people (to the best of my knowledge) did not speak while under oath.
So, what could Republicans in Congress possibly do to in response any deception pertaining to the terror attack in Benghazi?
In her report for Fox News, Catherine Herridge says the following:
The intelligence community’s talking points were provided to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice and formed the basis of her controversial comments on all the major Sunday talk shows five days after the attack. During those shows, she asserted that the attack was a “spontaneous” reaction to protests elsewhere in the region and was a demonstration that spun out of control.
Fox News first reported there was no demonstration at the consulate. Rice and others have since acknowledged there was no protest in Benghazi before the attack on the U.S. consulate and CIA annex.
It seems to me that some members of the mainstream media bear partial responsibility for the Obama Administration being able to accomplish such alleged deception. If Fox News was able to discover the lack of any protest prior to the Benghazi attack, then why weren’t other American news organizations able to make the same discovery?
Was Fox News the only American news organization to have reporters in Benghazi? Were reporters working for other news organizations really in the dark about what really happened in Benghazi, or did they know and chose to keep quiet?
Could the Obama Administration have been able to deceive the public about the Benghazi attack if liberal members of the American media hadn’t been in the tank for Obama?
Inquiring minds want to know.
