Fox News Mentions Me About Jay Leno Being Fired by NBC

-By Warner Todd Huston

Today at 11:45 AM, Fox Newser John Scott of Happening Now read my story posted to Breitbart’s My piece was headlined, “Despite Wide Appeal to Middle America, Jay Leno Out at ‘Tonight’.”

I know, I know, it’s like I’m being a gushing fanboy… but come on. I ain’t mentioned on Fox News every day. This is only like the 4th or 5th time in 10 years! Indulge me.

Good deal getting that mention here. The Wizbang network deserves more attention. A few celebrities have touched base with me over at Wizbang Pop as well.

NBC will likely be making a huge mistake taking down Leno here, although Jimmy Fallon has done wonders with Conan’s old time slot. FOX is reportedly looking to woo Jay Leno over to their network. I expect Jimmy Fallon to do better than Conan did with THE TONIGHT SHOW ratings, but still to rank below Leno’s ratings. But, NBC is #5 among the network for reasons like this. It’s the worst managed major network, while CBS is the best managed one.

Interestingly, Leno and his staff are smart, and realize that jokes to please everyone, are an important goal. Leno may be nearly as liberal as many other network celebrities are, but his staffers look at his demographics, and must write their jokes to appeal across the board to his audience, which tends to be older and more conservative than the other late night TV hosts.

Interestingly, Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon and Conan O’Brien are all Roman Catholics. But, Jimmy Fallon tends to be the most spiritual of the group, attends mass on a regular basis, and was a former altar boy. NBC likes his good boy image, where he’s never any trouble. Besides his immense talent, youth and good looks, Jimmy Fallon is one of the best things that NBC has going for it right now, and they know it. NBC is willing to bet the farm on this guy because he has so much potential.

BTW:The most Republican entertainment show on network TV right now? Probably, CSI:NY because both Sela Ward and Gary Sinese are Republicans, with conservative political leanings.
