White people rioting!!

If you missed the news coverage we’re here to fill you in.

A neighborhood watch man, an adult carrying a concealed weapon, shot and killed an unarmed teenage boy and was just found not-guilty by a jury after two days of deliberations.

“I just want to say thank you to the people who believed in me, who stood by me,” [the shooter] said following the verdict. “I still have my regrets for the [young boy’s] family; it’s still an unfortunate situation for them. I am happy that at least this chapter is over.”

As deliberations dragged on over two days and the jury asked for testimony to be read back, [the shooter] admits he didn’t know how it would all turn out.

“I was nervous of course,” he said. “You never know what direction this whole thing is going to turn, so I have no idea. But it worked out and I feel that justice (was) served today.”

[The boy’s] family members say justice wasn’t served. They say [he] was murdered in cold blood, that he’d never been in trouble and [the shooter] acted as judge, jury and executioner.

“The message is that we can all go out and get guns and feel anybody that we feel is threatening us and lie about the fact,” said [the boy’s] father. “My son never threatened anybody. He was a gentle child, his nature was gentle, he was a good person and he was never, ever arrested for anything, and has never been in trouble. He was 16 years and four months old, and he was slaughtered.”

[The shooter] says he acted in self defense when he confronted [the boy]…

Perhaps the reason you missed the story is because here are pictures of the shooter and the victim…

Scott RoderickDead White Kid

The one on the left, in the hoodie, is Roderick Scott, the shooter. The one on the right is the dead kid, Christopher Cervini.

I’m shocked you missed President Obama’s statement when he found out about the shooting, “If the white half of me had a son he would have looked like Christopher Cervini.”

You might have even missed the uproar surrounding the Department of Justice having their Community Relations Services group in Rochester, NY organize demonstrations of white upstate New Yorkers demanding a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate this cold blooded murder of a gentle white boy by a black man wearing a hoodie.

Actually, I’m not shocked that you missed all that news since it wasn’t really news outside of Rochester, NY. Here’s a summary of what happened.

Scott says he acted in self defense when he confronted Cervini and two others saying they were stealing from neighbors cars. He told them he had a gun and ordered them to freeze and wait for police.

Scott says he shot Cervini twice when the victim charged toward him yelling he was going to get Scott.

Based on what I’ve been able to find, the jury reached the correct verdict in Scott’s case just as they did in the Zimmerman trial.

I can understand how Christopher Cervini’s dad could say what he said just like I can understand how Trayvon Martin’s parents can say what they say. It’s called “grief”. It’s also called “denial”.

I also understand why we haven’t heard a word from President Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the NAACP or anything about expanded investigations from the Department of Justice.

That is called “hypocrisy”.

President Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the NAACP and the Department of Justice – if it wasn’t for double standards, they’d have none at all.

  • Brucehenry

Could it have had something to do with the fact that it didn’t take a public outcry, after a couple of months of police inaction, for the shooter to be charged in the first place?

I’ve seen several stories like this one “Why wasn’t THIS front page news?”

It wasn’t news because the wheels of justice moved forward as they were supposed to do. The perception among many members of the black community in Sanford is that that wasn’t the case in the Zimmerman matter. Hence the outcry, hence the front page.

No hypocrisy involved. See how simple that is if you’re not trying to make the laughable claim that whites are the real victims nowadays?

    • Retired military

The police stated they didn’t feel they had enough evidence to charge Zimmerman.

He was brought to trial without a grand jury bringing an indictment. How many times do you hear of this in a murder trial?

The bottom line is that the charges were politically motivated.

As to the length of time between Martin getting shot and Zimmerman being charged. There are numerous murders where charges are brought months after the fact.

Hell look at Nadal Hasan. His trial just started even though he was charged years ago.

It isn’t that white are the victims it is that there is a clear and visible double standard that this administration is applying in this case as well as a lot of other things.

      • Brucehenry

I’m just saying, it ain’t national front page news if a crime is committed (or alleged to have been committed), an arrest is made, and a trial takes place, all in a logical timely fashion.

In Sanford, the feeling was widespread that police were dragging their feet because this kid’s death didn’t matter. Whether those people who felt that way were right or not is immaterial — the fact that so many people felt that way and brought pressure to bear made it front page news.

In the case above, the wheels of justice turned about like everyone expected them to. An arrest was made in a timely fashion and a trial was held. Hence it’s local news, of interest only to the local community. No need was perceived for outsiders to become involved.

        • jim_m

Weasel all you want. This was a political show trial and the left (including you) are all pissed that you lost. You may say that you expected the result but it clearly is not the result you wanted. You wanted a political conviction.

        • Retired military

“Whether those people who felt that way were right or not is immaterial — the fact that so many people felt that way and brought pressure to bear made it front page news.”

Lets look at why so many people felt that way.

          a. You have the President of the US saying “If I had a son he would look just like Trayvon”. This happened on Mar 23 which wasn’t even 4 weeks after the incident happened.

          b. People think that the police work like CSI on TV on every crime and have an answer in a day tops on things like DNA, trace evidence etc. It takes days or weeks to do this.

          C. You have beaurocrats who are weighing in on the case which means that the cops don’t want to leave any stone unturned because they don’t want to be blamed on any screw ups. Can we say OJ.

          d. You have the news cycle pumping up the volume and getting almost everything wrong.

          e. You have the news people calling Zimmerman white when he is as much white as black. He is half Hispanic, 1/4 white and 1/4 black. They even made up the term White Hispanic for this case. So you have the news people pushing the case because it fits their view of life and helps their ratings.

Just because you have people pushing for stuff to happen doesn’t mean that it should happen or it is the right thing.

As I stated he we are 4 years after the Ft Hood Shooting. Yet no outcry from the press, no outcry from the President, No 24 hours news cycle after the first 2 weeks. Hell they wont even call it a terrorist attack but instead call it workplace violence with an idiot yelling Allah Akbar.

In short The press made the story and were and still are invested in the outcome. Period.

Where is the press outrage and coverage and Obama’s statements on the 100 or so black teenagers who died in the 18 months that this mess has been going on.
WHere is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who would have to find another way to make a buck if all racism disappeared tomorrow, outcrying against the violence taking place in Chicago which is and has been a democrat run city for decades?

          • Brucehenry

I’m talking about why one story was news and the other wasn’t. One was news because of a massive public outcry about the perception that the cops didn’t care about the shooting victim. The other wasn’t news because there was no such perception, hence no outcry.

          • Retired military

            The question is Bruce

How much of that outcry was ginned up by politicians pushing an agenda and a willing press?

Personally I thought wall to wall coverage of the OJ trial for months on end was way too much but it got good ratings..

Plus this case took the limelight off of Obama’s IRS, and NSA issues.

You don’t see the press playing up the racial violence being done in the name of Trayvon Martin do you? Yes they are isolated idiots but at the same time they are committing hate crimes. Where are the DOJ investigations?

Why is the DOJ spending time on the killing of one teen age boy when they have thousands of cases that they could be prosecuting or solving or investigating. IN 2 months no one will remember Zimmerman’s first name. But for now you don’t hear about the scandals, economy, jobs, problems in Syria, etc. Just the way the administration (any administration) would like it. I don’t think Obama cares 2 whits about Martin. Look at the way the left discarded Cindy Sheehan when she was no longer any good. The right does it as well. Tjhey just don’t have a willing press going along with it.

          • Baldy1957

A “massive public outcry”, instigated by an angry black man who’s now our President, many of his “brothers” , a complicit media in his pocket, (even doctoring 911 calls), and numerous others who would love to bring this nation down a “peg or two”!! Where’s the outcry for Agent Brian Terry, whose family can’t even get acknowledged by this Administration? Or the outcry for the victims of Ft Hood’s “workplace violence” claimed by a President who’s either sympathetic to those followers of, or is a liar regarding his own following of allah? Libs never argue facts, but feelings.

          • Walter_Cronanty

            Oh, what you said!

        • Retired military

I have a very good friend who is African American.
          He believes the following
          a. Martin Sucker punched Zimmerman
          b. That Zimmerman should be in jail for murder.
We will never know who initiated physical contact. IMO that person is ultimately responsible for Martin’s death.

          Who was that person?
We don’t know. We will never know. And there is no way to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it was Zimmerman. As such under our justice system Zimmerman should have gone free.
THe jurors even stated they wish there was something they could have convicted him of and that he was charged with that. But he wasn’t.
I have stated previously I don’t think Zimmerman should have gotten out of the car. I wouldn’t have. But that doesn’t mean that he was guilty of Murder or manslaughter. Stupidity. yes. But if you can go to jail for just that than most of mankind would be serving life sentences.

          • Brucehenry

Pretty similar to how I feel about it.

          • Retired military

            Just an aside.
TV has been crappy the past few weeks.
Was watching Touched by an angel reruns last week.
One episode was a white cop shooting a black kid.
Coincidence? I think not. Even though at least it had a good lesson for everyone involved.

          • jim_m

THe jurors even stated they wish there was something they could have convicted him of and that he was charged with that. But he wasn’t.

Not all bad things that happen are illegal. This seems to be one of those.

          • Retired military

But it is pretty much a given that if Zimmerman had stayed in his car than Martin would still be alive.
And I sincerely believe that if Zimmerman didn’t have a gun that he wouldn’t have gone wandering off away from his car. What he did wasn’t illegal but IMO it contributed to the death of Martin. DId Martin’s action contribute to it as well? Have no clue. Wasn’t there but I admit the possibility.

          • jim_m

Who freaking cares??!?!?!?!? I don’t give a damn about your freaking what ifs and if only’s. Time to get out of your “reality based” social circle and actually start dealing with reality. Trayvon would be alive if he had not provoked a fight. Trayvon would be alive if he wasn’t a thug and hadn’t gotten himself suspended from school.

It goes both ways. You only see it your way because of you own racialist crap.

          • Brucehenry

Did you think you were addressing ME, so disrespectfully, as usual, Jim? LOL.

          • jim_m

Actually yes I did. My bad.

But it stands. I am sick of this Trayvon would be alive if Zimmerman stayed in the car BS. Trayvon would be alive if he were in school where he belonged.

          • Brucehenry

Here’s my position in a nutshell: The jury reached the correct verdict, based on Florida law. But I’ll bet George Zimmerman will feel guilty about his actions that night for the rest of his life. I’ll bet he wishes he hadn’t got out of the car, and I’ll bet he kicks himself for packing heat, making himself brave enough to leave the car when he arguably shouldn’t have.

          • Walter_Cronanty

Oh, I bet he feels some guilt, but I sincerely doubt that he regrets that he was packing heat.

          • jim_m

You’d have to be a pretty twisted person not to feel guilt over taking someone else’s life. But Walter is right. He will ever regret carrying. It probably saved his life that night.

          • Retired military

Bruce’s argument and pretty much mine as well is that if Zimmerman wasn’t carrying the chances are he wouldn’t have gotten out of the car. Bottom line is that like so many things in this case. We just don’t know.

          • Retired military

            pretty much how I feel.

          • LiberalNightmare

I think that Zimmerman is probably glad as f*ck that he was carrying that night.

          • Retired military

probably true. But I was dealing with things in the immediate vicinity. I mean we could say that if Travyon didn’t live in Florida Trayvon would be alive as well.
Or he could have gotten hit by a car walking across the street to school.

          • jim_m

Exactly. That’s why I say that what ifs are useless. We can what if ourselves silly over every event in history. It is little more than mental masturbation.

          • It’s a given that if Martin had gone home and not doubled back he’d have survived that night. No such certainty that the next person he assaulted would not have put paid to him.

          • suzyshopper

And it’s a pretty given , if Trayvon had not approached g Zimmerman , and said do u gotta problem with me, but had just went home, he would still be alive now , so…….?

          • We know there is zero evidence that Zimmerman struck Martin, as there were no wounds on Zimmerman congruent with having struck someone, and no wounds on Martin congruent with having been struck, while the exact opposite pertains: There is ample evidence that Martin struck someone and ample evidence that Zimmerman was struck repeatedly.

          • Jack Perry

We interrupt this back and forth.

At the moment of part A of the statement from the Black friend (note here: Unless the person was actually born in one of the countries located in Africa, he or she is only American, not African-American… yes Jesse Jackson was wrong as he was born in Greenville, SC and unless you or anyone can show where in Africa that is, he is also just American and needs to get over himself) that a sucker punch to Zimmerman we stop as that is the start of the legal case here.

The legal case starts with BATTERY by Martin onto Zimmerman. At this point, Martin becomes the aggressor and Zimmerman is permitted under the law to use any means necessary that a reasonable person in same or similar situation would use to protect themselves, except for lethal force, unless the aggressor escalates the situation further.

The legal case escalates from this point with Martin on audio of stating “You’re going to die tonight.” Coupled with straddling Zimmerman as to prevent his escape as seen by a third-person not involved, and the banging of the head on the concrete, then the use of lethal force to protect becomes available to Zimmerman, if he is able to do so to protect himself from the aggression by Martin.

The use of lethal force by Zimmerman with the self-defense is not negated for the part that Martin was straddling Zimmerman and preventing his escape and having expressed the intent to kill Zimmerman is reasonable doubt for the charge of either second or third degree murder.

This situation rests on Martin, and Zimmerman getting out of the truck is not relevant here. Martin having noticed that he was being followed should have gone to his father’s fiancee’s house rather than doubling back to confront Zimmerman.

Had the police arrive before Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense, then Martin had fulfilled all the elements for attempted murder, but for the police having arrived he would have succeeded with his effort.

The liberal logic that Zimmerman should have not gotten out of his truck is short-sighted since Zimmerman was there as a volunteer for the neighborhood watch of the homeowner’s association and not there for his own purposes. He had a duty to the neighborhood watch program. The police would like people to “stay out of it” however, given the history of recent break ins resulted in a situation ripe for something else to happen.

Martin was out to get components for his LEAN/PURPLE DRANK habit. On his way home he picked up someone following him and for all he knew it could have very well been a police officer in plain clothes; it wasn’t, but this did not seem to phase Martin.

If we go with the liberal logic then the same type can be applied to Martin, supra. Martin should have kept on walking after it appeared he lost Zimmerman who was trailing behind. Martin should have also called the police at the moment he noticed he was being followed as a reasonable person would and NOT take the law into his own hands.

As to your assertion that you wouldn’t have, it is likely that you would not have volunteered for the watch either and content to stay within your world and ignore the on-goings in your neighborhood.

However, this is not about you. It is about what a reasonable person in like or similar situation for Zimmerman and Martin.

          • suzyshopper

Wow. U repeated just bout word for word , what I said on another website.Everyone ones harp ing on g zimmermas getting out of the car,Zimmerman said he lost sight of Trayvon for a bit, the next thing ya know he’s confronting g Zimmerman, and asking him if he has a problem, up too that moment , he had every opportunity , too just turn around and go home, and from what I read Trayvon wasn’t far from home, when the confrontation started, so I ask the question , once again why didnt he go HOMEEEEE?

        • JesseMace

you are stupid. they made it about race. the black pimps are still pushing it because they didn’t get blood from zimmerman. it’s a black thing, not a justice thing.

    • jim_m

It wasn’t news because it wasn’t politically expedient to make a fuss about a black man shooting a white kid. Once again it is not surprising that the idiot on the left cannot see the racism inherent in the prosecution of Zimmerman. The charges would never have gotten a conviction. He was charged in order to stoke racial hate and division.

      • Brucehenry

Wait, I thought that those who SAW racism were the real racists….What does this comment make you, Jim, the Double-Un-Reverse-Non-Un-Racist?

        • jim_m

You see racism everywhere but in your own actions. There is nothing inconsistent in that.

          • Brucehenry

I try to keep in mind my own prejudices and make some effort to overcome them, not always successfully.

But LOL, I DO spend a lot of time trying to remind conservatives of this: The fact that they’re tired of hearing about racism isn’t proof racism is a thing of the past.

          • Retired military

            True Bruce

            a. just because you disagree with Obama’s policies or bills supported by Obama doesn’t mean you are racist. And

            B. there are NUMEROUS examples of folks on the left pushing that theme.

Do you not agree that both the above statements are true ?

          • Brucehenry

Yes, but if you hate any and every thing Obama supports JUST BECAUSE Obama supports it you are probably a racist.

Do you not agree that THIS is a true statement? And there are many on the right that fit that description. Not all.

The trouble is figuring out who is who.

          • jim_m

No maybe your just an anti-communist. obama supports a lot of socialist crap. He actively works against the constitution and the rule of law (evidence his decision to abrogate his oath and not enforce selected parts of obamacare). At this point it is a rational position to oppose everything he advocates until it is proven to be a sound policy. Odds are that you are going to be correct greater than 99.99999% of the time.

          • Brucehenry

Yeah, maybe. And maybe the Klan and the John Birch Society are primarily anti-communist organizations.

          • jim_m

Both of those organizations are barely existent any more. CPUSA now routinely endorses the dem candidate for President because there is pretty much no difference in their platforms.

          • Brucehenry

The Klan and the Birchers, you are right, barely exist any more. Their members vote Republican, though.

For that matter, CPUSA barely exists any more. Whatever members they do have probably do vote for Dems.

Lots of racists claim to be just anti-communist. I’ll bet J Edgar Hoover would have said he himself was no racist.

          • Retired military

            To Bruce and Jim.
Really.??? Now we are digging into the far far far extreme on both sides of the aisle.
Hell why not bring up the flat earth society while you guys are at it.

          • Paul Hooson

I didn’t realize that the CPUSA ever endorsed any Democrats. The only thing I’ve seen them publish about the Dems is that they’re another militaristic party who share the same foreign policy consensus with the Republicans. – BTW, I used to attend John Birch Society meetings as a teenager and was a regular over at the American Opinion bookstore in Portland. I even worked for a Portland office of President Nixon as a 17 year old. – Oh, the crazy things of youth, huh. Thank god I’m grown up these days.

          • Monty

They endorsed the entire Progressive Cacus…

          • Retired military

I agree with the possibility that they are racist.

I cant think of just about anything Obama has done that I agree with. I do agree with the targeting of AQ with the drones. It saves US lives. It does eliminate the possibility of getting intel but since you cant play patticakes with them than I am not too concerned.

I do agree with keeping Gitmo Open (despite his best attempts to close it).

But other than that I disagree with almost everything he has done.

            Overblown budgets – check

The GM bailout that helped the unions and screwed investors – check

            immigration – check

            abortion – check

IRS targeting conservatives (yes I think he knew if not ordered it) – check

and those are off the top of my head.

            But think about your statement.

” if you hate any and every thing Obama supports JUST BECAUSE Obama supports it

Do you really mean ANY and EVERYTHING thing or do you just mean the major items like

Because what Obama stands for on those issues are just about the same stance as

            Jimmy Carter

            Hillary Clinton

            Bill Clinton

            Nancy Pelosi

            Harry Reid

            John Kerry

            Joe Biden

            Al Gore

And if you notice all of those folks are white. And I cant stand the sight of any of those folks nor can I stand to hear them talk.

The bottom line is that Obama is just another cutout democrat politician who is pushing the same policies that democrat politicians have been pushing for 40+ years.

It is a given fact that 40% of the folks will vote republican in any given major election and 40% will vote democrat.

Obama is the republican version of Bush when he was president.

A stumbling idiot who is the ultimate mastermind behind everything bad. (not saying he is but that is the perception) He cant be both but you will find folks who claim it is true.

I firmly believe you could ask half the republicans in the US do you agree with xxxx (republican president ) stance on Y then they will say yes. And if you ask half the democrats do they agree with Obama that say the bill of rights should be discarded they will say yes. (Even though Obama has said no such thing).
Too many lemmings on both sides.

          • Monty

Can I butt in here, I dislike 90% of Obama’s decisions, and I dislike his white half as much as I dislike his black half. Does that make me a “Racist”?,,,

          • mbecker908

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are proof racism isn’t a thing of the past.

          • Among other things…

        • M_Becker

The racists in the Zimmerman case were Obama, Holder, Jackson, Sharpton, etal.

          • Don’t forget Saint Skittles, who allegedly referred to Zimmerman as a “creepy ass cracker.”

    • M_Becker

      It was total hypocrisy.

The Sanford police investigated the case and determined that Zimmerman shot in self defense (stand your ground was never an issue BTW), the state’s attorney for that area reviewed the evidence and chose not to prosecute because it was self-defense. He later agreed to take the case to a grand jury after the Obama administration and the race baiters got involved, but was removed from the case in favor of the states attorney who took the case directly to judge, by-passing the grand jury. The actual indictment she presented to the judge included a number of “facts” that were not true.

Contemporaneous to the locals gathering and reviewing evidence, the FBI was sent to Sanford to look for evidence of a hate crime. They found none.

All of that was done in a very timely fashion and the problem that the “black community” had was that they didn’t like the result. Unfortunately the Governor and State AG of FL pandered to the racists.

The Sanford Police and the original states attorney were exactly right, there was no evidence that Zimmerman did anything but defend himself after being attacked.

      • Monty

If you want proof of Racism, why did a black city manager, and a balck mayor fire the white chief of police and the white detective who wouldn’t arrest TM, and they hired a black police of chief who would arrest him.
The mayor took TM’s mother into his office with no witnesses and played the tape for her several times. Then took GZ dad into his office swore him in and had a court reporter there and 6 witnesses,,,just sayin’

The only verdict Brucehenry would have seen as “just” would have been a death sentence for Zimmerman. All we can do is pray for folks like you, Sharpton, Jackson, nObama, et al. Obviously, nothing is ever enough to satisfy. nObama injects himself into every fray involving a black “underdog”, whether it’s legitimate to do so or not. Bruce, did you hear that the police chief found no cause for an arrest based on the facts, and the FBI found no racism (a favorite cry of the formerly oppressed and liberals)? Wonder whose side you took when the DOJ found there was no intimidation by New Black Panthers in Philly, in spite of video proof? Were you still crying about “oppression” then? Whites who disagree with this crap are racist, while blacks who disagree with such rantings as yours are Uncle Toms!

NOWADAYS NOWADAYS, are u serious, do u even know that more whites are killed by blacks, than blacks kill whites,h_ ll more blacks are killed by blacks, try doing some research, before u say something, so totally out there, too be considered laughable by most normal ppl!!Maybe u should start judging ppl by there character instead of the color of their skin. Anyone who can read the statistics, and still say that blacks are the victims, are just plain dishonest.

Meanwhile you have billions being cut from the defense budget but the US GOVT spends 91k on TVs for the prisoners at GITMO. Shows you where this administration’s priorities lie.

Maybe they could have given the GITMO prisoners old black and white TVs and spent the 91k on school vouchers for Inner city kids or white house tours or just about anything else.

People should have been outraged about this, I never even heard about this back in 2009 when it happened;-/

What can you say?…..Many people are simply revolting…

It is interesting that this was published on the same day that Obama chose to talk about the different experience of blacks and whites and how it affects their frame of reference.

    • Behavior is not a product of race.

Culture is a whole different matter.
