    If the Pope is infallible, does that make his wax dummy perfect?

    I saw a Wax Pope with nothing in his hand
    Standin’ in a closet with creepy heads
    He was gettin’ his hair cut by Lee Ho Fooks
    Next up was Hoover from the feds

    Aaahoo! Wax Popes of the Vatican
    Aaahoo!
    Aaahoo! Wax Popes of the Vatican
    Aaahoo!

    Ya hear him blessin’ around your kitchen door
    Ya better not let him in
    Little old lady got blessed late last night

    Aaahoo!

    He’s the very, merry gent, who ran amok for Lent
    Lately he’s been overheard in Rome
    You better stay away from him
    He’ll excommunicate you Jim
    Huh, I’d like to meet his barber

    Aaahoo! Wax Popes of the Vatican

    Doin’ the Wax Popes of the Vatican
    I saw John Paul II walkin’ with a queen
    Doin’ the Wax Popes of the Vatican
    I saw a Wax Pope drinkin’ a pina colada in the basilicas
    And his hair was perfect

    Ex Cathedra

    …and predictably the NYT forgot to explain the role of Madame Tussaud’s chief wax sculpture with their headline, “Edmund Gives Pope Head.”

    ‘Twas the night before Monday, when all through the house
    Not a chip was stirring, not even my mouse;
    The captions were posted on the Wizbang with care,
    In hopes that St. Kevin soon would be there;
    The commenters were nestled all snug in their beds;
    While visions of awards danced in their heads;
    And Michelle in her ‘kerchief, and Barack in his cap,
    Had just settled at the White House for a long winter’s nap,
    When out on the net there arose such a clatter,
    I sprang to my computer to see what was the matter.
    Away to the windows I flew like a cursor,
    Typed in the login and threw up the browser.
    The monitor shown with an LED glow
    Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
    When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
    But a New Hampshire blog and eight tiny post-ers,
    With a little slave driver so lively and quick,
    I knew in a moment he must be St. Kevin.
    More slower than snails his awards they came,
    And he whistled, and shouted, and called posters by name:
    “Now, David! now, Warner! now Rick and Jay Tea!
    On, Michael! on, Baron! on, Charlie and Rodney!
    To the top of the banner! to the top of the page!
    Now type away! type away! type away all!”
    With thoughts straight as a wild geese in flight,
    They dealt out opinions and leaned to the right;
    So up to the internet the posts they flew
    With the blog full of opinions, and St. Kevin too—
    And then, in a twinkling, I heard a good zinger
    The tipping and tapping from each little finger.
    As I clicked on a headline, and was downing the load,
    Down the intertube St. Kevin came from a node.
    He was dressed all in pajamas, from his head to his foot,
    And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
    A bundle of awards he had flung on his back,
    And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
    His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!
    His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
    His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
    And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
    The stump of a reefer he held tight in his teeth,
    And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath;
    He had a broad face and a little round belly
    That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
    He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
    And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
    A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
    Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
    He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
    And read all the captions; then turned like a jerk,
    And putting his finger inside of his nose,
    And giving a nod, up the internet he rose;
    He sprang to his keyboard, his mouse in his hand,
    And away the bits flew for he had broadband.
    But I heard him exclaim, ere he gave what we seek—
    “No awards to anyone, just wait another week!”
