Despite his oft times indiscriminate death from-the-skies drone program, Obama seems to have failed to put a stop to our worst enemy, al Qaeda. It seems that the infamous terror group now controls more territory than ever.
Obama has pretended that his occasional drone strike and the fact that he was in the White House when our military killed Osama bin Laden means that we’ve essentially won the war on terror and destroyed al Qaeda. But this seems to be a total lie. Al Qaeda is alive and well.
The National Review took the time in its morning email, The Morning Jolt, to note that the terrorists are expanding, not contracting.
NR points out that CNN’s Peter Bergen has revealed the truth about al Qaeda’s growth:
From around Aleppo in western Syria to small areas of Fallujah in central Iraq, al Qaeda now controls territory that stretches more than 400 miles across the heart of the Middle East, according to English and Arab language news accounts as well as accounts on jihadist websites.
Indeed, al Qaeda appears to control more territory in the Arab world than it has done at any time in its history.
Iraq is also finding renewed troubles with al Qaeda. As I posted in the video above, Iraqi authorities are again battling in Fallujah to evict al Qaeda forces. This after we thought we already did that with our invasion of Iraq.
Good thing Obama pulled us out of Iraq, eh?
On top of all that the Taliban is resurgent in Afghanistan.
NR’s Jim Geraghty ends his report with a perfect reminder…
“Remember, ‘Bin Laden is dead and Detroit is alive,’ Geraghty writes. “Detroit is bankrupt and al-Qaeda now controls more territory than ever.”
Exactly right. What do you think?
