Tolerant Hollywood Fires Actress Who Supported Conservative Candidate

Remember, liberals–especially effusive Hollywood folk–are smarter, more loving, more grown up that you knuckle dragging conservatives, and they care more about people, too. And if you don’t agree… they’ll fire you with prejudice. Because: tolerance. That is what happened to one actress in Hollywood that dared support a conservative candidate.

Longtime denizen of Hollywood, actress Maria Conchita Alonso, was fired from an acting job in California because she dared to appear in an ad for Republican candidate for governor Tim Donnelly.

Donnelly, a current California assemblyman, is now running for governor to replace the extremely left-wing Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown, the octogenarian liberal who is driving some of the final nails into California’s coffin.

Alonso appeared in one of Donnelly’s TV ads, a pretty amusing one, too.

But now she’s lost a job for her support of Donnelly. CBS San Francisco reports that Alonso was fired from an acting job at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco. The actress was to appear in a stage presentation of the “Vagina Monologues.”

“We really cannot have her in the show, unfortunately,” Eliana Lopez, wife of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi and the producer of the show said.

So, the more tolerant, more caring, more open liberals fired someone merely because she has a different political opinion than they.

Yep. Tolerance.

This isn’t the first time that Alonso was in the news for voicing a conservative-leaning opinion. Back in 2010, the actress slammed silly, half-witted actor Sean Penn for giving constant support of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

I think she has grounds to sue under California state law if her firing was actually because of her political views. But, many TV shows actually have conservative leaning producers or actors. Lorne Michaels who produces Saturday Night Live, for example, is a Republican. And many actors lean Republican, including some surprising one’s like Adam Sandler and others. Even Saturday Night Live has had more Republican or conservative leaning actors than many realize.

      One that supported Obama.

Not sure I’d call that a Republican.

Why are we trying to save California? The best that could be done for this patient is to keep it alive on life support. I think that like, Terri Schiavo we should disconnect the tubes and let it go. (and lest anyone think I am callous, I say the same for Illinois, where I have the misfortune to live).

The only way out for these states and cities like Chicago and Detroit is for them to go bankrupt and for the people to learn that they cannot run a state or city by driving all the productive people away. The sooner we let them go belly up the sooner we can get rid of the communist unions (and in Chicago they are openly communist) and other parasites that prevent anything saving the existing bodies.

    • As a third generation native of the State of California I say let it burn.

Create another Hollywood somewhere else and another government. They are both full of rot and decay.

Nobody makes movies in Cali anymore anyway. They should also take a look at the corrupt accounting practices in the entertainment industry.

As a counter I’d like to point out this was a private establishment where the clientele is predominantly gay and somewhere left of Lenin. The business owner made a financial decision based on said clientele and their likely reaction to her public stances and the ensuing loss in revenue they would, in all likelihood, suffer.

As conservatives we complain about the hypocrisy of the left, yet, if for example, Sean Penn was working in rural Texas and made some asinine, anti-American statements, would we question the owner of said business for dismissing his service?

God I HATE sounding like a Westlake clone, but is this really a story? A businessman made a financial decision based on his audience and revenue stream, maybe something we should laud as a good financial decision?

Lenin was a centrist by comparison.

Agreed that they have the right to employ whoever they please. But then we have the right to point out their intolerance and hypocrisy as well.

You don’t approximate Larry. You can use paragraphs.

Not that details matter on the Internet, and not that bloggers would know the difference between a firing and a resignation (given the horrible demographics of bloggers), but if you actually read the cited article it becomes fairly clear that Alonso simply quit that show after receiving backlash from the local Latino community in connection with a radio interview she had conducted. “Hollywood” had absolutely nothing to do with this. It was a very local production of a very off-Broadway type of a show. The ad for Donnelly appears mostly to have been incidental. In any event, it goes without saying that leftists are clueless, hypocritical and corrupt. Sun rises in the east. Concerning Alonso, she’s simply a great woman. Gorgeous. Intelligent. Check out “The Running Man” if you have any doubts. Phenomenal woman. Regarding the illegal immigration mess, ironically enough one of the key causal elements is Reagan’s amnesty law from the 80’s. We needed real border control back then, in addition to that amnesty. Now the only viable solution includes another round of amnesty. Concerning Donnelly, he’s got only slightly less of a chance of unseating Jerry Brown as Michael Savage’s chances of being named King of England. Regarding the “Tea Party,” there is no such thing in reality. It doesn’t appear on any ballots anywhere in the country. And it never will.

  • Silly half-witted Sean Penn is right, but he is no actor. However Penn is evil as the devil just like the Regime. As far as Hollywood is concerned, they all deserve each other in a ‘funny gay’ sorta way. Obama fits right in.

As Westlake points out, she wasn’t fired, she resigned.,0,3991766.story#axzz2qy1ynEoQ

Color me shocked that Warner isn’t telling the truth about this but is instead wallowing in butthurt.

That came out today. Yesterday the local CBS affiliate was saying:

The actress was to perform next month at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco’s Mission District in a Spanish-language version of “The Vagina Monologues,” scheduled for a run from February 14th through 17th.The show is being produced by none other than Eliana Lopez, wife of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.

“We really cannot have her in the show, unfortunately,” Lopez told KPIX 5. She said Alonso abruptly resigned from the cast on Friday, given the backlash on the immigration issue.

“Of course she has the right to say whatever she wants. But we’re in the middle of the Mission. Doing what she is doing is against what we believe,” Lopez said.

It does make it sound like they asked for her to resign.

Regardless, the point is that lefty tolerance is little more than STFU and do what you’re told.

      • Brucehenry

If that’s a valid point why couldn’t it be made without resort to lying, errr, ummm, I mean hyperbole and exaggeration?

        • jim_m

the point that lefties are intolerant and hypocritical was made without hyperbole and exaggeration.
