Democrats in Denial, Claim Charlie Hebdo Murderers ‘Aren’t Muslims’

Once again the world is given an example of terrorism committed in the name of Islam and once again foolish westerners race to absolve Islam for the murderous assault. For instance, before the smoke had cleared in the assault on the French magazine publisher, the Democrat’s spokesman, Howard Dean, insisted that the murderers aren’t really Muslims.

Dean, a former Vermont Governor and the recent Democrat National Committee Chairman, appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” only hours after the deadly attacks in France on the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. In his comments, Dean insisted that the murderers aren’t Muslim.

“You know, this is a chronic problem,” Dean said on Wednesday morning. “I stopped calling these people Muslim terrorists. They’re about as Muslim as I am. I mean, they have no respect for whatever anybody else’s life. That’s not what the Koran says. You know, Europe has an enormous radical problem. I think ISIS is a cult, not an Islamist cult. I think it’s a cult. I think you got to deal with these people.”

He continued saying,

“You know, the interesting thing here is we talked about guns the last time regarding the United States, regarding how guns get in the hands of the kind of people that kill the two police officers here two weeks ago — France has tremendous gun control laws, yet, these people are able to get Kalashnikovs. So, this is really complicated stuff. I think you have to treat these people basically as mass murders. But I do not think we should accord them any particular religious respects because I think whatever they are claiming, motivation clearly is a twisted cultish mind.”

Dean wasn’t alone in his refusal to acknowledge the obvious that this is Islam-based terrorism.

Not long after Dean made his comments on MSNBC, White House spokesman Josh Earnest was on CNN refusing to call these attacks an act of terror.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo pressed Earnest on whether or not the al Qaeda-linked attack was an act of terror and Earnest demurred from that characterization.

“I think, based on what we know right now, it does seem like that is what we’re confronting here,” Earnest told Cuomo. “And this is an act of violence that we certainly do condemn. And, you know, if based on this investigation it turns out to be an act of terrorism then we would condemn that in the strongest possible terms, too.”

There is no doubt that this was terror. And who, exactly, does Earnest need to tell him if it “turns out to be an act of terrorism”?

All of this is just more proof that Democrats and the left are still ensconced firmly in their fantasy land where Islam is innocent of any acts of terror and that the millions–factually millions–of Muslims across the world that kill in the name of Islam aren’t really Muslims.

Listen, I agree with characterizations of groups as “not really being” worthy representatives of a faith. For instance, the cretins in the Westboro Baptist Church are legitimately said to be “not real Christians.”

We can say something like this because the idiots in the Westboro “church” are tens of people in a religion of millions of people. Their actions are extreme and not representative at all of Baptists.

But these terrorists in Islam are not out of the ordinary. Literally millions of Muslims today are committing acts of terror on a daily basis. Terrorism is wholly representative of Islam.

Terrorism is not solely representative of Islam, certainly. There are millions of Muslims who are entirely peaceful, to be sure. But there are millions of others across the world who feel that terror is wholly in keeping with and part of their religion. The number of Muslims who fully accept terrorism as part of their religion amount to far too many to dismiss them as wholly representative of their religion.

Those who say that terrorists are “not real Muslims” are foolish. Terrorism is 100 percent representative of Islam.

As to the cartoon that sparked this attack, the French magazine’s name is Charlie Hebdo and the artist that drew the cartoon is Stéphane Charbonnier. The artist was one of those killed in the attack on the magazine’s offices because… you know… Islam is the “religion of peace,” and all.

Political Correctness will turn us into a country of blind beggars.

  • JWH

Just saw a report that one of the two police officers killed in the battle was himself a Muslim.

    • Vagabond661

Muslim on Muslim crime is a problem.

      • jim_m

        No. It really isn’t.

        • Vagabond661

What I mean is what do to their own people, genital mutilation for example.
One of the fears of the non-violent muslims is they will be punished by the terrorists wing of their religion for not going full jihad.

          • jim_m

What they need to realize is the lesson already being taught in ISiS controlled areas, which is that no one can live under the ultra fanatic rule of the islamists. They can die fighting them or die living under their heel, but the islamists will kill them.

They can feed the crocodile hoping that they are eaten last, but that is all they do if they refuse to oppose the islamists.

    • Paul Hooson

Most Muslims are decent moderate people who don’t approve of violence or extremists.

      • JWH

Most Muslims are not terrorists. But most of the terrorists are Muslim. Somehow, we have to convince the broader Muslim community to cast out the terrorists.

        • jim_m

Most muslims either support terrorists or refuse to do anything to stand against them.

          • In all honesty, it’s difficult to do so when you know that (a) you’ll be labeled an apostate for disagreeing with the terrorists’ interpretation of Islam, and (b) probably killed for being an apostate by said terrorists.

It kind of tends to discourage the ones who would otherwise stand up and go “Hey, guys, this shit ain’t right…” which is what the terrorists want.

Silence equals consent, after all… and if that silence is bought by death threats, then it’s still silence.

          • WHO’S THE BUSTER

The group that is more than willing to employ violence will generally be unopposed, even if they are a minority.

For example, the Mafia could easily run neighborhoods in New York. Why didn’t people speak up or throw them out?
Easy, one side is comprised of people that will not hesitate to use violence, while the other side was made up of shop owners or simply “regular” working people.

      • LiberalNightmare

Funny, you could say the same thing about journalists.

      • I’d like to see you try to prove that claim.

    • jim_m

      Your point?

  • Paul Hooson

This is akin to an attack on MAD Magazine for publishing political satire.

  • LiberalNightmare

Remember folks, just because one journalist slanders the prophet of islam doesnt mean that every journalist slanders the prophet of islam.

    * see what I did there?

    • How does one slander a self admitted brigand, thief, rapist, child rapist, and murderer?

      • LiberalNightmare

      • … who, by the way, never really even existed!

  • GarandFan

I’m surprised the administration didn’t call it “workplace violence”.

  • jim_m

The dems have yet to admit that appeasement does n it work as a foreign policy strategy. Hitler would have laid seize to Leningrad and they would still have been trying to make concessions. After Pearl Harbor obama would have been trying to negotiate a set keen with the Japanese.

There is no atrocity too horrible that they will not excuse it and that they will not attempt to find a way to claim that Islam had nothing to do with it.

Face it lefties. Whether or not you want to claim that these islamists are “real muslims” the fact is that THEIR religion, which they call islam, is telling them to commit these acts. Like it or not as much as 60% of the Muslim world supports acts such as this.

    • LiberalNightmare

There is one key thing that the left doesn’t understand about this war.

In this war, there is no Switzerland. You can not be neutral. Your team has already been chosen.

Its not radical islam versus the jews, its not radical islam versus the catholics.
Its radical islam versus everyone else.

      • jim_m

I have to say that even Lindsey Graham gets this.

. What people need to get is they can’t be accommodated. They can’t be negotiated with. They have to be eventually destroyed. And the way you destroy them over time is to have the people within the religion turn on them, have the capability to keep them at bay within the countries where they exist. That requires capacity building. That requires partnerships. But the way you defeat radical Islam is the way the KKK was defeated. People in the South over time turned against them. They got more educated. They rejected the extreme philosophy. And we’re going to have to invest in countries and people that would reject radical Islam, side with them, partner with them to keep the war over there. And here’s what I would say to President Obama. Your strategy of containing or destroying ISIL will not work. Your goal of containing them until you get out of office puts our country at risk. You’re not a very good commander-in-chief. Your policies to take the intelligence gathering process and destroy it by treating terrorism as a common crime is going to hurt this country. And to my fellow members of Congress, you’re part of the problem, too. If you don’t find a substitute for these Defense and intelligence cuts, you’re reducing our ability to defend this nation. There’s a perfect storm brewing, and I am going to keep talking about this until we get some action.

It’s shocking how willfully ignorant and resistant to the truth the left is.

        • Vagabond661

I am certainly not a fan of Grahmnasty but there are a few things he is dead on right.

  • Commander_Chico

A policeman killed was a Muslim.

    • jim_m

And that only means that the terrorists weren’t conducting a religious test before pulling the trigger. It does not mean , as you and others are implying, that these people were not religiously motivated or that they were not muslims.

    • Kill them all – Allah will know his own.

  • Walter_Cronanty

How about that – Howard Primal Scream Dean knows more about Islam than Egyptian President Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Gen. al-Sisi says Islam is going in the wrong direction – not that those who kill in the name of Allah are not Muslims – and called for a religious revolution. Note that he didn’t get the memo on political correctness, as he bemoans the fact that the entire Islamic world has become “…a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction…: “I am referring here to the religious clerics. … It’s inconceivable that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma (Islamic world) to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world. Impossible!”

  • They are practicing war to the knife, and will continue to do so until the knife is applied to them, to the hilt.

  • Walter_Cronanty

Why do Ds refuse to believe what Islamic terrorists say? It’s like saying that Hitler’s SchutzStaffel weren’t real Nazis – instead they were just a group of thugs who hi-jacked the peaceful Nazi philosophy.
Here’s some of what the Muslim terrorists said during their killing spree:

“Sigolène Vinson, a freelancer who had decided to come in that morning to take part in the meeting, thought she would be killed when one of the men approached her.

Instead, she told French news media, the man said, “I’m not going to kill you because you’re a woman, we don’t kill women, but you must convert to Islam, read the Quran and cover yourself,” she recalled.

“After,” she added, he left shouting, “Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar!”

    • Hank_M

“Why do Ds refuse to believe what Islamic terrorists say?’

      Few reasons.
They’d say and do the same if they could.
They figure the violence will never get to them. The people they demonize will save them first.
      They want their votes.

  • Walter_Cronanty

AP caves in to militant Amish demands….oh, wait….the AP is just putting patina of “equal sensitivity” on its craven cowardice. Wave bye-bye to our First Amendment:
“The Associated Press has removed an image of Andres Serrano’s 1987 photograph “Piss Christ” from its image library following Wednesday’s attack against the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo….

The AP was one of several news organizations to either blur or crop photos featuring a Charlie Hebdo cartoon depicting the Islamic prophet Mohammed. In an email earlier today, AP spokesperson Paul Colford cited the “longstanding policy” as its reason for not showing the cartoons.”

  • Walter_Cronanty

I guess these guys who burnt a city to the ground and murdered 2,000 aren’t Muslims, either.

  • Retired military

I dont see what people are so upset about some workplace violence for. I mean, after all, that is what Obama continues to call the Ft Hood shootings.
Nothing to see here, move right along.
