Anti-Gun Senator Shoots Intruder Defends Himself with Second Amendment

This fall into our general category of “If Democrats Didn’t Have Double Standards They Wouldn’t Have Any!” This post focuses on a Democrat who’s made his career opposing Second Amendment rights for you and I and taking advantage of those same rights to defend himself.

Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City , N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician’s home county said.
The intruder, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen and Brunswick counties.

I have mixed emotions with hypocrites like Soles. On the one hand I’m glad he was able to defend himself against a bad guy. On the other hand, he’s not really a “good guy with a gun,” he’s a “hypocrite with a gun” – Michael Bloomberg where are you? – and the cynical, nasty part of me would be happy seeing him have to face Blackburn with nothing more than a “Please don’t hurt me…”

The cynical, nasty part of me also would like to see DA Gore arrest Soles and make is miserable existence even more miserable. But then he’d likely feel the need to do the same to the common folk that Soles wants to leave unarmed.

Probably the best we can do with this hypocrite is to hope that Blackburn sues him.

The next election should end his political career (unless he retires to save himself the embarrassment).

  • Prosecute all parties involved to the full extent of the law.

Where are you getting your information? This appears to have happened in 2009. Moreover, according to the same link, he doesn’t appear to be a virulent anti-gun-rights politician.

He was prosecuted for assault and pled guilty to a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and paid $1,000.00 in court costs. He appears to have left office in 2011. Are you referring to another incident?

I appreciate someone who verifies facts. Shows not only intelligence but someone who is not one to be trifled with in the least.

Yeah, old news. Becker gets his “news” from chain emails.

Just remember, for some people, “anti-gun” means you’re against selling guns to certified lunatics and criminals.

I remember reading about this guy 6 years ago. He’s not anti-gun so’s you’d notice, and the “intruder” he shot was one of many young men he had hanging around his home. He DID claim to be all “family values,” though, so it was a source of mirth when his not-very-well-kept secret made statewide news.

Snopes? Yeah, the gold standard, not.

        • Brucehenry

The Snopes debunking of this “story” is from news accounts and court records. The whole thing was in all the papers around here back when it happened. And the guy’s voting record is public knowledge. Not only did he NOT “make his career opposing gun rights” he didn’t use any “Second Amendment defense” in court. The whole story is a lie.

Seems that Snopes, while perhaps not “the gold standard,” is reliable in this instance.

Helps to fact check. It’s even an old false rumor from 2011.

Why is this crap going around again? Do some fact checking before posting something just because it started going around Facebook again today.

Michael Becker is a long time activist and a businessman. He’s been involved in the pro-life movement since 1976 and has been counseling addicts and ministering to prison inmates since 1980.Becker is a Curmudgeon.

    Becker is also a moron.
