During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Obama promised to go “line by line” through the federal budget to eliminate waste and over spending. But he’s been far more profligate than any other President, spending us deeper and deeper into debt. He’s certainly had the help of both parties in Congress, but his basic and often repeated promise of striving for frugality was just another in a sea of lies.

In the spirit of the open thread, have you noticed that asylum seekers of a certain religious persuasion have some difficulties in understanding minor cultural differences, like rape, when living on the dole in the countries from which they seek asylum – and that the western press covers for them?

“Yesterday, German authorities came clean about a horrifying event that took place three days earlier. A New Year’s Day event at a square in front of Cologne’s main train station where people gathered to watch fireworks over the Rhine turned into a nightmare. Firecrackers were tossed into the crowd and as the throng fled, gangs of several hundred young men acting in what police said was a “coordinated” manner, assaulted what may have been as many one hundred people. Many women, who were circled and isolated as the gangs broke into separate groups, were sexually assaulted and/or robbed.

This sort of thing is, as the New York Times reported, unprecedented in its size and scale for a comparable crime in a modern European or American city. But what makes it particularly problematic is a salient fact that may have been responsible for the three-day delay before officials acknowledged what happen: The perpetrators were reported by witnesses to be “North African or Arabic” in their appearance….

For the last year few years, articles about an alarming rise in rape in Scandinavian countries committed by North African and Middle Eastern immigrants circulated on the Internet. But, by and large, the mainstream media ignored these items. The reason for this was obvious. No one, least of all anyone employed by a liberal publication or broadcast outlet, wanted to bolster paranoia about Muslims or foreigners or, even worse, feed race-based sexual fear that fuels racial violence.” https://www.commentarymagazine.com/foreign-policy/europe/immigration-unmentionable-refugee-question-cologne/

Huh, who woulda thunk it? Gaddafi knew more about the situation in Libya than Western “policy makers.” He warned of the takeover of Libya by Islamic terrorists, but we ignored him. Remember, the fall of Libya [and its subsequent devolution into an Islamic terrorist shithole] is Hillary’s greatest achievement as Secretary of State:

“Gaddafi’s dire prediction was made in two desperate telephone calls with Mr Blair on February 25, 2011 – as civil war was engulfing Libya.

In the first call at 11.15am, Gaddafi said: “They [jihadists] want to control the Mediterranean and then they will attack Europe.” …

In the call, lasting half an hour, Gaddafi insisted he was trying to defend Libya from al-Qaeda fighters. The presence of al-Qaedas would later be superceded by the rise of the so-called Islamic State. …

In a second call made a little over four hours later, Gaddafi told Mr Blair: “I will have to arm the people and get ready for a fight. Libyan people will die, damage will be on the Med, Europe and the whole world. These armed groups are using the situation [in Libya] as a justification – and we shall fight them.”…

“The evidence that the Committee [Britain’s Foreign Affairs Committee which is investigating Libya’s collapse] has taken so far in this inquiry suggests that western policy makers were rather less perceptive than Gaddafi about the risks of intervention for both the Libyan people and the western interests.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/tony-blair/12086505/Tony-Blairs-phone-conversations-with-Colonel-Gaddafi-revealed.html
