George Orwell Just Called

It was a very long distance call.

AP Now Calling Illegal Aliens “Undocumented Citizens”

By Ace, Ace of Spades

Orwell just emailed me to say “Told you so.”

@amber_athey points out that this isn’t even part of AP’s “style guide” to specify what euphemisms they will use — so this actually breaks the style guide.

You’d get in trouble with deviating from the style guide to call them “illegal aliens” (which is what they are), but you can get away with breaking the style guide’s rules to coin an even more Orwellian euphemism.

It’s a dark time for satire.

The left wants to call anyone living in the country a citizen. Apparently all that matters is of you are able to get across the borders they refuse to defend.

The left wants foreign citizens to vote in our elections. They are willing to enlist any foreign power in their drive to overthrow the democracy we have here and replace it with a socialist dictatorship.

    • Surely does look that way.

    • Sky__Captain

I do remember Jay Leno once referred to illegal aliens as “undocumented Democrats”.

  • Vagabond661

Wonder how many of the 5.6 million to evac florida are illegal?

    • WHO’S THE BUSTER

In Southern Florida? Not many. Most came from Cuba thirty or forty years ago. Of course, is that the most important thing right now/

      • Vagabond661

Having lived there, there is huge migrant population who harvest the fruit and vegetables there. So, millions.

        • WHO’S THE BUSTER

Your link says less than half a million, not “millions.” However, that is more than I would have thought. I lived in Miami for twenty years and they are an invisible demographic. That is, if you did not travel to Homestead, or other outlying agricultural areas, you did not notice any illegal immigrants.

Of course if we could get rid of them those jobs picking crops could go to hard working Americans.

Or not. Chalmers R. Carr III, the president of Titan Farms, a South Carolina peach giant, hired 483 U.S. applicants, slightly less than a quarter of what he needed; 109 didn’t show up on the first day. Another 321 of them quit, “the vast majority in the first two days,” Carr testified. Only 31 lasted for the entire peach season.”

          http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-fi-farms-immigration/

Or this example of how tightening immigration cost the Georgia agricultural industry $140 million:

          • Vagabond661

If you read it, that’s South Florida. And illegal immigrant migrant workers are hard to estimate.

      • Vagabond661

And if they weren’t here illegally, they would be safer back in their country and we would have more room in our shelters.

      • Jwb10001

Do you know the difference between expressing an opinion and declaring something others can discover as fact? You see it’s possible to know with some clarity how many illegals there are in Florida, so you saying there aren’t many based on some flawed assumption is, if you’ll pardon the phrase, stupid. Now if you want to express an opinion you could have said “who cares how many illegals there are we can’t let them die in a hurricane” but the who cares part is also, if you’ll pardon the phrase, stupid. Or you could have said nothing which might have served you better.

    A brother from another motherland?

  • Wild_Willie

It is quite amazing how the left and the political establishment wants to label dissenters of illegal immigration as haters, no compassion or racist when in fact the left and establishment want to use them for what they can do for them only. That is classic racism. Citizens like ourselves believe our law means something.

I wrote my senators and told them I will back only immigration plan/law you have if you first give all legal citizens of this country a free pass to break one federal law one time with no consequences. I haven’t heard back yet.

  • Par4Course

The Dems want the illegals to think of themselves as “undocumented citizens,” to ease their conscience about illegally voting. Any state that tries to enforce a voter ID law has to look forward to long court fights, so states like California allow anyone who shows up at the polls to vote. In hundreds of jurisdictions the number of votes cast exceeds the number of registered voters, and the total number of registered voters exceed the number of American citizens eligible to vote. (http://www.nationalreview.com/article/450413/election-fraud-registered-voters-outnumber-eligible-voters-462-counties. Like many of our politician, our elections system has no integrity.

      “ease their consciences? ”

They would have to have consciences for that to be necessary.
