The Demagogic Democratic smear machine has already started to attack Bush over the Aug 6, 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing. They have already called it extremely damaging to the President.
The only thing it proves is that George Bush is not psychic.
In the extended entry is the full text of the memo. It is, as Dr. Rice described, mostly a historical document. Only one sentence talks about events since 1999. It talks about what Al Qeada has done in the past and mentions what little information we did have prior to 9/11.
In fact I don't really see where it says anything we did not know before the election.
The critics will be sure to ignore the last paragraph that says:
The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full field investigations throughout the US that it considers Bin Ladin-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our Embassy in UAE in May saying that a group of Bin Ladin supporters was in the US planning attacks with explosives.
In reading the whole thing I am struck how freaking clueless we were just 1 month before the event. For all the Dem spin we didn't know jack about the actual plot. For Bush to stop 9/11 with this information he would have needed to have a crystal ball the size of Mt Everest.
Of course the "usual suspects" will claim it proof that George Bush is the devil... but then they always do.
UPDATE: OH look.. A usual suspect that ignores we had over 70 investigations going. Why I am not surprised?
Read it for yourself below...
Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US
Clandestine, foreign government, and media reports indicate Bin Ladin since 1997 has wanted to conduct terrorist attacks in the U.S. Bin Ladin implied in US television interviews in 1997 and 1998 that his followers would follow the example of World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef and "bring the fighting to America."
After US missile strikes on his base in Afghanistan in 1998, Bin Ladin told followers he wanted to retaliate in Washington, according to xxxxxxxxxxx service.
An Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ) operative told an xxxxxxxxxx service at the same time that Bin Ladin was planning to exploit the operative's access to the US to mount a terrorist strike.
The millennium plotting in Canada in 1999 may have been part of Bin Ladin's first serious attempt to implement a terrorist strike in the US. Convicted plotter Ahmed Ressam has told the FBI that he conceived the idea to attack Los Angeles International Airport himself, but that Bin Ladin lieutenant Abu Zubaydah encouraged him and helped facilitate the operation. Ressam also said that in 1998 Abu Zubaydah was planning his own US attack.
Ressam says Bin Ladin was aware of the Los Angeles operation.
Although Bin Ladin has not succeeded, his attacks against the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 demonstrate that he prepares operations years in advance and is not deterred by setbacks. Bin Ladin associates surveilled our Embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam as early as 1993, and some members of the Nairobi cell planning the bombings were arrested and deported in 1997.
Al-Qa'ida members — including some who are US citizens — have resided in or traveled to the US for years, and the group apparently maintains a support structure that could aid attacks. Two al-Qa'ida members found guilty in the conspiracy to bomb our Embassies in East Africa were US citizens, and a senior EIJ member lived in California in the mid-1990s.
A clandestine source said in 1998 that a Bin Ladin cell in New York was recruiting Muslim-American youth for attacks.
We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a xxxxxxxxxx service in 1998 saying that Bin Ladin wanted to hijack a US aircraft to gain the release of "Blind Shaykh" 'Umar 'Abd al-Rahman and other US-held extremists.
Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.
The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full field investigations throughout the US that it considers Bin Ladin-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our Embassy in UAE in May saying that a group of Bin Ladin supporters was in the US planning attacks with explosives.

Allow me to add to your collection of, of...well - words fail me when lies are so profuse and so absurd...
"David Colton, Washington lawyer and veteran of the intelligence world, observes of this exchange: "Ben-Veniste hypnotized her." Colton adds, "She fell into the rhythm of a smart lawyer's questions, and so blurted out the single most damning admission of these hearings."

Oh like POTUS ever got to the last paragraph. He doesn't read, he skims and brags about it. Probably never turned the page. BTW, Condi did commit perjury, but whose quibbling, this was only national security, not like she flashed W a boob then lied about it.

Hey Kevin you get a lot of trolling 'tards coming to your site.
Dean, The economy seems to be rolling along well, even with the media attempts to color it.
As for the war, well, in the last few days, Iran effectively declared war on us in Iraq. Whole new ball game.
Perhaps, Mark and his ilk want us to run with our collective tails between our legs. So Mark, why don't you volunteer. I did my service. Howabout you put your money were you bs is.

Perjury or Spin, Blog my Name, about six posts down, already substantiated. BTW, nobody will admit how the number 70 got into the PDB's last paragraph, or that it was accurate.
So if POTUS relied on this bogus info to think that everything was honky-dory and the bad guys were "being investigated," then whoever included that in the memo completely misled POTUS and should be shot. If by chance it's one of POTUS's buddies and he's protecting them, well, you know how America feels about Presidents who engage in cover-ups.

Here's the next best thing to a permalink to my perjury analysis, (someday I'll be one of the cool bloggers and get a real, movable-type compatable blog). commondreams.org has more. Haven't read their take yet, but there will be more of the same. By Monday you probably could google a couple hundred links on her inability to just answer the questions yea or nea and leave it at that. I always instruct witnesses to simple and truthfully answer the question and that they'll have their chance to clear things up later, if need be. She was trying to put the best face on things, bless her soul, but she blundered.

Adams, if any of us had said this "not like she flashed W a boob then lied about it." about a black woman, you and you 24/7 crew of moonbats would have called us racist. So I am saying it, you like "Mr step and fetchit" Hesiod are racists of the worse order. You are a racist because you try to put down the character of any minority that won't carry water for your side.

yeah, I finally read the commondreams stuff, shaky, but there's something there. It is admittedly picking a nit.
Oh Capt Joe. I never called anyone racist and if someone I know did, let me apologize. Condi's race never had a thing to do with it. Why on earth would you bring it up? I wouldn't presume, even from the tone of your post, that you are as bigoted as you sound.
I don't know why I would have to defend myself to you, but since you bloviated, I bought a home in a predominately black neighborhood in Shaker Hts., OH and lived there from 1985 until 2000. I was the only white person in an all black law firm for about five years. Dr. Rice is brilliant, credentialed, educated and dropped the ball. That's all I need to know.
