Here we go again:
The terrorists don't understand that beheading people and releasing video of it will not scare us, it will only piss us off.American's Decapitation Shown on Internet
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Images of an American hostage being decapitated surfaced Saturday on an Internet site known for carrying the statements of Islamic militants.
The gruesome videotape appeared three days after U.S. authorities announced the search for the body of Paul M. Johnson Jr. had been called off.
Still photographs of Johnson's beheading had been posted June 19 on some of the same militant Islamic forums that on Saturday provided links to the newly released video footage.
Johnson, a 49-year-old engineer for U.S. defense contractor Lockheed Martin, was kidnapped June 12.
The video, which ran almost two minutes and included images of tanks and destroyed homes apparently in Iraq, carried the title "The Voice of Jihad: Get the infidels out of the Arabian Peninsula."
Voice of Jihad is the name of a periodical issued on the Internet twice monthly by the al-Qaida cell in Saudi Arabia, which claimed Johnson's killing.
Update (From Kevin) - The video is at Ogrish.com (NSFW). A direct (no porn) link is available here.
Paul's edit to Kevin's edit to Paul's post... There's porn on that there link. Not sure if that makes you more or less willing to click it but I figured you'd wanna know either way.

Folks in that area of the world aren't known for their progressive style of combat/war. Their manner of persuasion (in this case, convincing us that our only reasonable option is to leave that region) is the same that has met with moderate degrees of success throughout their history in lands more familiar to them.
That is to say, they've been relying upon their tactics for as long as they can remember and are either unwilling or unable to adopt a more persuasive way of spreading their message (even if that means limiting our receptivity to that message).
So, they kidnap a couple folks, lop their heads off, show us a few images of their war-torn region that are meant to justify their brutal actions and then brandish their weapons in an effort to "scare us off."
If they only realized that out of 270 million people in this nation, only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction (of a fraction) are the slightest bit persuaded.
And that's only until those few apply a bit of logic to the process. Once that happens, as you say Kevin, it just pisses us off and makes us more resolute against their cause.

Yeesh. I still think my brother is right: We need to go to their most holy of holy places and bomb the everloving crap out of it. And this coming from ME, a decidedly passive person.
I hate war and everything it represents that is wrong with humanity, but for the love of God, if we're going to do something, then I say, Let's dance.
And as far as the warning about there being "porn" on the site, there's porn on that site if you accept a secondary definition of it, which is something that is lurid or sensational in nature. So even if there's no "pron," there's still porn.
I'll go back to my corner now.

Joni I'll grant the animated picture is small but ummmm if you think that is a "secondary" definition of porn, I wanna hang out with you one weekend.

Guess the salient portion of my comment didn't make it through the first time:
Secondary definition: "... something that is lurid or sensational in nature...."
The VIDEO itself would fall into that category. Guess my morbid humor fell thru the crax....

OK I guess I'm too subtle...
The animated picture of the woman "servicing" herself with the long vibrating thing is probably called porn by most any definition.

Horrible movie.. i have seen the Nick Berg video, it was unclear, and went by pretty quickly.... then i saw the Kim Sun-Il video.. unclear also (probably same camera), and that one went very quick.. The south korean was beheaded in a couple of second, maybe three, four..
But the Paul Johnson video is gruesome... they take this little knife, and they just cut, and cut.. it lasts forever.. absolutely horrible! im sick of seeing these videos, and i wish for no more videos, except the one where the group who are looking for Al-Zarqawi and want to kill him.. i like to see this coward in an orange suit, beg for his useless life, and decapitate him on video.
