Both John McCain and Sarah Palin have clear ties to the far right John Birch Society organization. McCain used to attend John Birch Society meetings in the Phoenix, Arizona area and is well known to local John Birch Society members in that area's chapter. And Sarah Palin has been featured in the John Birch Society publication, THE NEW AMERICAN Magazine before. Both McCain and Palin may even be full fledged dues paying members of the John Birch Society as well.

Is it self-delusion? Is Sarah Palin in shock? How can she continue to lie about obvious facts... everyone knows she's lying -- except Sarah it would seem.

For this week at least, John McCain is all about Changing Direction from what Bush has done.. yesirree. Next week? It's anyone's guess. This drama of watching John McCain flail about like a fish out of water is amusing. John McCain is in a full-blown panic, erratically shifting from one approach to another, seemingly just one half-baked, "campaign suspension" away from a total meltdown.

In a recent post I documented Sarah Palin's direct and deliberate lying to the press over the results of the TrooperGate investigation which found her guilty of violating Alaskan ethics laws. Here' s more of the same deliberate lying --...

I'm as impatient as anyone ... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Dan | September 13, 2004 12:43 AM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
I'm as impatient as anyone and ready to boycott CBS. But, really, I would suspect something else is going on. CBS knows these are forged by now. They mostly likely are doing the legal and organizational work required to end this. They have no choice and every MSM outlet has let them know it by not ignoring the story.
I suspect in the day or days ahead we will learn who will fall on their sword and who will survive. CBS and Rather are keeping the face on this they must until their lawyers are clear on where they stand as far as liability and the need to divulge sources, etc.
These folks are stupid, they're liberal - but they sure as hell are not dumb.

Paul you were right the first time...Sandra Lines went public with this stuff starting three days ago....nobody was paying that much attention.. One sight now has a list of some 12 "experts" who all have found faults with the documents...independently in most cases...Its not even in question anymore....

CIA won't fall on its sword(Congress made that request) and look at what they have done to the politicians. Nothing is going to change and you may see Kerry and his UN vote(or is it a re-call) become even more aggressive in the destruction of our homeland.
Dems have gotten away with too much and watch how repressive they are when they sell us off to the UN and foreign countries.

CBS has a lot to mull over...
If the docs are fake ( I know I know ) Then the FBI has jurisdiction under fed counterfeit laws. CBS can be ordered to turn over all copies, reveal the names of anyone connected with them in any way...
If the Docs are real then either TANG or the family can demand their return since they were not obtained through freedom of info or a family release allowing CBS commercial use....
either way they're in the poop...
One thing that muddies the water a bit....As I understand it 60 minutes supposidly gave the docs to the WH and then they returned them....I don't know how that effects the chain of handling and any legal aspects...but in most cases it probably doesn't... CBS is still on the carpet....

Can you believe it....With everything thats happened in the past 4 days....Talk about shoveling against the tide...Only thing you can think is they're even more desperate than we knew...This thing could backfire so badly on Kerry his swiftboat sinks at the pier before he even gets to the debates...

I'm surprised the documents didn't have read at the bottom.
"P.S. Remember that tall gangley fella named John Kerry, he was so heroic in Vietnam. He served there for 4 months. He would make a great president someday."

Not to be too melodramatic, but in all my years of media-consciousness, I have never had a more palpable sense of the divide between what most Americans are led to believe by Big Media and what a relative few can learn for themselves to be the truth. Even at this very moment, you can go through dozens upon dozens of news service stories that make all they can of these memos without even so much as a passing acknowledgement that they are forgeries. And they are forgeries. It is literally incredible how powerful the pull of Big Media's anti-Bush agenda remains in the face of this new "open source" journalism. Is this what it was like in the aftermath of Tet ---but without the benefit of a nation of ombudsmen? Uncle Walter and Courageous Dan are still around. I very much want to see them brought down by the forces they have spent a lifetime trying to malign.

I agree with Dan that the long silence from CBS in the face of all this evidence is most consistent with the hypothesis that they are getting all their ducks in a row. There are so many smart people at CBS and they can see perfectly well what we all can see.
I emailed Glenn Reynolds with my prediction on this point yesterday that CBS's silence will be broken no later than Tuesday evening's broadcast, and the noise will rival the disappearance of Krakatoa.
