Revealing Photos Of Sex Scandal Teacher To Stay Sealed (Wizbang)

Wizbang's referrer logs tell me that the poster girl for teacher sex scandals, Debra LaFave, must be back in the news. She's back in the news because it turns out police have pictures of what's under her bikini bottoms, and the media wants them.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFTV) -- Revealing photos taken by police as evidence in the case against a young woman teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student will remain sealed, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Two Tampa TV stations were among those who made public-records requests for photos taken of Debra Lafave after her arrest last year in a case that made tabloid headlines around the world.

Police got a warrant and took six explicit photos of Lafave to compare descriptions the boy had given of her tan lines, tattoos and pubic hair.

Her attorney, John Fitzgibbons, argued in a hearing Tuesday that the photos should be kept out of the public eye -- and off the Internet, where there are already many lurid sites devoted to her. Prosecutors and Circuit Judge Wayne Timmerman agreed.

Alas frustrated Internet surfers will do no better than what's already available...

I believe the boy involved in the Latourneau 'affair' was the same age as the boy involved here. That boy had a kid with Latourneau and ended up marrying a 40+ year old woman in his early 20's. Do you consider that a healthy outcome & relationship?

Gringo, let me get this straight. Guy has sex with an underage girl...this is bad because we "assume" she's not responsible enough to make that decision at that age. We also "assume" that girls mature faster than boys.

Therefore boys, at the same age as girls that are NOT 'equipped' to make that decision at that age, ARE 'equipped' to make that decision at that age?

Either what she did was as bad as every dirty old man or people are going to have to tear down some "assumptions".

The issue isn't nude photos - it's that the police are reserving the right to take photos that are beyond graphic in nature and then shield them from public record.

Why did the police need such photos? We'll never know because the judge made them beyond public inspection. In essence: the police can do whatever the hell they want and then hide behind shield laws.

Yes, reading is a good thing. So is evidence. But shooting photos for jollies is quite another when you already have a mountain of evidence, including extensive audio tapes confirming the crime.

My 15 and 17 year old son asked me what kind of idiot (their words..not mine) would say a word to anyone if they where having sex with a super hottie as Ms. Lafave. I suppose I should have said something to discourage this line of thinking, but I too, must contemplate the same question. When I was 14 years old I would have given anything to be with a few of my teachers that I felt where equally hot.

Pam Roger is finally going to jail for a crime that would send any male to the slammer for 25 years. The double standard cannot be defended. Either it's wrong to have sex with a minor or it isn't. Period. When a women does a crime we look for an excuse. When a man does a crime we look for a rope. I realize that men and women are different but they're either held to the same standard or they aren't. As far as a 14 year old boy keeping his mouth shut if sleeping with a beautiful teacher goes wouldn't that be like making a hole in one (no pun) with no one there to see it. Young women are more commonly pressured into having sex, whereas young men are just simply looking for it.
That's the difference.

I don't think a teenage boy is scarred in any way by sex with an older woman.
These lawsuits are the product of overprotective parents who believe their teenager has been coersed into having sex, when in reality they've been looking for sex the entire time.
It just so happened that it was with an older woman.
In fact in some ways it's probably better to learn from someone who knows what they're doing rather than from another misinformed teenager where the danger of pregnancy and STD's is almost certainly higher.

As we all know with all the evidence including DNA, testimony, and audio tapes and even evidence she went out with them in her car,we should have all the evidence in the world to convict her.
By rule if that were a man with the same evidence he would be looking at 20 years or so.
Why did she get off on probation??

Simple when a man does it both genders say lock them up. When a pretty women does it only one gender says lock them up. The lafave case is about as pink and blue is OJ is black and white. I believe that any prosecutor would be afraid to go to trial because he knows many members of the male species would only feel sympathetics to her and wish he could have had a teacher like that.

I am male and I believe any man who thinks she belongs behind bars needs to come out of the closet.
I believe that women should be entitled to act on all sexual ambitions that there pretty bodies desire.
