Amusingly, my three InstaLanches were back in my blogspot days. Blogspot handled them without incident. Really, a typical InstaLance is only 3000-5000 visits. One would think any decent provider could handle that.

Yep, I had an, um, Cluelessalanche? Doesn't have the same ring, does it? Not quite as big, but the link wasn't as prominent (and your delightful gag certainly deserved more attention than my article). Though I wonder what non-IMAO readers made of it.
Given the way MT works, a few thousand hits really doesn't make any impact on a server. But it's fun to see your traffic spike like that :)

Then again, I did indirectly get an Instalance, but Glenn has now furthered his policy of not directly linking to me.

I'm afraid I'm not even close to being in Glenn's league in terms of traffic, but my main page gets loaded about 10,000 times per day, and a lot of my readers like following my update-links to see what kinds of comments from others I've found. That's especially true since I link to such things whether they're complimentary or not; my rule is that it has to make a substantial point of some kind and make it well. So the only thing my readers know is that such update links will be worth reading.
I hope that the link didn't cause problems. Most people like it, but you never know. At least a couple of times when I've linked to Geocities pages, readers have sent me mail telling me that we'd overloaded them and they were seeing the Geocities "Too much bandwidth, come back later" page instead.

(By the way, Glenn's main page gets loaded between 70,000 and 100,000 times per day. As I said, my puny 10,000 isn't in his league.)

I had Verve for about a week, before switching to ICD Soft because they offer more bandwith and much more storage space for the same price. SO far, ICDSoft seems to be handling this Instalanche just fine.

Steven, rest assured you'll never hear a complaint from me about being linked by you. ;-)
Frank, you got what's known as the Instapundit echo effect. It's not nearly as good as the real thing.

I've got to concur with Meryl, I'd never complain about a link from you. Based on back of the napkin calculations from today maybe 10% - 15% of his readers click through on a given post. Since your links are more selective I would imagine that the click trough rate is higher. Of course I'd never complain about a InstaPundit link either. I thought it might be interesting for others to see one run its course from the linked bloggers perspective. Not exactly an original concept, but what the hey...

Within two hours my sitemeter started spinning :)
