Verizon Strike Update

I first mentioned the nasty battle brewing between Verizon and the Communication Workers of America here. James Joyner and Amber have noted that a strike has been averted, if only temporarily.

78,000 Verizon Communications (VZ) workers from Virginia to Maine remained on the job while contract negotiations resumed Sunday. A strike deadline at midnight Saturday passed with unions deciding to stay at the bargaining table, citing some progress. Given the PR campaign that preceed this announcement, don't be supprised if a walkout eventaully takes place.
