Asshat Of The Week - Corrine Brown (Wizbang)

Representative Corrine Brown keeps digging her hole deeper, but somehow manages to avoid the Trent Lott treatment. The latest wrinkle is her *wink* apology where she really doesn't apologize. From the Florida Times Union:

U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown this afternoon issued an apology to Assistant Secretary of State Roger Noriega after calling the president's policy on Haiti ''racist'' and his representatives,''a bunch of white men.''

Noriega later told Brown: ''As a Mexican-American, I deeply resent being called a racist and branded a white man,'' according to three participants.

Brown then told him ''you all look alike to me,'' the participants said.

The article includes her apology, such that it is.

"I sincerely did not mean to offend Secretary Noriega or anyone in the room. Rather, my comments, as they relate to "white men," were aimed at the policies of the Bush administration as they pertain to Haiti, which I do consider to be racist.

Rep. Brown is black, so apparently she gets a get out of your racist comment jail free card. Imagine a white congressman uttering the line 'you all look alike to me' line to a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Just because you're black doesn't mean you can't be a racist, as Rep. Corrine Brown ably proved this week.
