The Bonfire of the Vanities returns to Wizbang, albeit only because the scheduled host dropped off the face of the earth. I'd like to thank myself for allowing myself to host this week. All of this weeks entries were gladly offered up to the Bonfire by their authors.

If you want to be reminded to enter the Bonfire each week via e-mail, subscribe to the Bonfire mailing list, and judging by the number of entries this week more of you need reminders. If you would like to host the Bonfire send me an e-mail as check this post for the upcoming stops. The Bonfire archive is here if you are looking for past editions.
Now that the housekeeping work is taken care of, it's time to light the Bonfire...

Aaron wants you to buy him firearms. Sorry, I gave at the office - the post office.
Rick is having some legal problems, though from the sounds of it hygiene problems would be more of an issue... (Permalinks hosed - search page for "genital").

LOL!
Thar dsescription of me and my post ought to do wonders for clearing traffic off the roadways in Southern California, as everyone gets out of the way of the lunatic, in diapers, on a bicycle. :-)
Thanks for the laugh, after a long day at work.:-)

Does anyone have any ideas about how to "un-hose" my blogger permalinks? I've noticed that they point to the top of the monthly archive. I'd like them to point to the actual link (I thought that was what "permalink" meant, but I guess it does not mean that to blogger).

Rick, it appears you've got a couple of problems. First, you need an anchor at the top of the post, for the permalink to point to, like so:
<a name="<$BlogItemNumber$>"> </a><br />
You could use various things instead of the , but after some experimentation, I ended up with what's essentially an invisible anchor.
Next, your permalink is a bit fubar. Here's what it looks like right now:
<a href="<a href="2004_03_01_shvedova_archive.html#107931838818802151">2:50 AM</a>
You shouldn't have that second <a href=" in there. So your template should look something like this:
<a href="<$BlogItemArchiveFileName$>#<$BlogItemNumber$>"><$BlogItemDateTime$></a>
Hope that helps, and doesn't just screw things up further!

I think the search term for Rick's post should be "genital" instead of "genitals"
And thanks for emergency-hosting, Kevin :-)

From the main page the permalinks work fine; however, from the archive pages they do not.
I thought they should link to each post, but they are linking to the top of the month. If I have to settle for that then I will, but how do I edit the HTML for the archive pages?
