PETA is not only scum, they... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Jay Tea | April 6, 2004 9:25 PM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
PETA is not only scum, they're hypocritical scum. They push every button on everyone they can, but a couple years ago they sued someone for starting a group called "People Eating Tasty Animals."
Three cheers for you, Kate, for giving them the publicity they so richly deserve, and others, like Meryl Yourish and her "International Eat An Animal For PETA" Day.

Hmm... maybe I'm just tired, or jaded, or stupid, but I'm looking at both pictures and drooling.
But I'm not so tired/jaded/stupid to continue on this theme.

What may be missing is some context - the ads were "inspired" by the Robert PIckton case in Briitsh Columbia.
Pickton is charged with the murders of dozens of women - over 60 are missing, and may have fed body parts to his pigs. Which he then slaughtered and distributed meat to locals and friends.
Needless to say, they're going over in Canada like a lead zeppelin. As I said, I can't imagine what is going on at PETA. This sort of campaign (like most lately) does nothing but undermine their "cause".

The problem is we have no common context. We (on the "sensible" side) can't fathom the idea that there is no difference between killing a pig to feed humans and killing a human to feed pigs.
I forget the exact quote, but it's something like, "A pig is a bird is a boy is a dog." We just don't have sufficiently common context to even engage in conversation.
