Killian Memo Has Wrong Deadline, Cites Wrong Regulation

The CYA memo CBS is running shows Lieutenant Colonel Killian ordering Bush to appear for a physical, citing the "failure to show" regulation (AFM 35-13). The forger has Killian cite the WRONG regulation for authority. He cited the punishment upon failure to show reg (AFM 35-13), rather than the regulation which contained the requirement (AFM 160-1).

Additionally, Bush had plenty of time to get his "medical" since the deadline in AFM 160-1 was based on his birthday.

This Clown Posse thread has all scans of all the documents and details to back up this up.

Be sure to scroll down and read the whole thread, as it looks like the forger may have been relying on information from the John Kerry website to assist in his document creation.

As the tipster who sent this to me notes, "this is like arresting someone on the charge of 'going to jail'!"

The blog editors on powerline.com, Whizbang, INDC etc. can provide you with all the material you'll ever need to nail this story beyond reproach.

The blogosphere broke this bombshell and followed it through doing all the spadework to run these bastards to ground....many many hours of investigative work by a whole lot of dedicated people....The MSM is not really going after these guys aggressively. and the CBS/DNC camp is stonewalling stalling for time....hoping it will just go away...

Nows your chance to show all the people such as myself that have supported you through the years if you are really interested in justice and being fair and balanced or in the end it was just a lot of bloviating.....What say you Bill?

In the same Clown Posse thread, Sabertooth discovered another strangeness. In May 4, 1973 memo, Lt Col Killian managed to write the 111 of 111 Fighter Intercept Squadron 3 different way.

1. In the header, 111th Fighter Intercept Squadron.
2. In the first sentense, it's written 111 F.I.S. (no th)
3. In the second sentense, it's 111th F.I.S. (the superscript).

Boy, our Colonel Killian really went out of his way to be different.

I don't know if sending anything to O'Reilly is worth it. Last Thursday he was saying how Kerry would fight the war on terror as good as Bush. He never bothered to mention upon what he based his assertion. On Friday, in a repeat of an interview with numb nuts Bill Maher, O'Reilly said that there is no difference between Bush and Kerry on the issues. He also said at various times that he knows Kerry and that he's an honorable man. My take is that O'Reilly is going to personally vote for Kerry.

BTW, Pat Caddell, the Democrat Party strategist, was on Fox News Live this afternoon and he said that he has a good idea who turned over the forged documents to 60 Minutes. He was very upset about the CBS News Department's collusion with DNC operatives during this election. Then he attacked Sen. Tom Harkin for his vicious comments about Bush's military record reminding everyone how in 1992 Harkin blew his bid for the presidential nomination when it was discovered he lied that he flew combat missions in Vietnam. Harkin, the record shows flew mail and supplies in Japan and flew a couple of missions in the Caribbean. Wow, I've finally seen an honest Democrat.

Caddel has been reaming the whole DNC aparatii non-stop ever since the swiftboat thing started. His favorite target is Susan Estrich (Ostritch?) who never misses a chance to say the most dumb ass things in behalf of her beloved party frogs at the DNC. Pat usually eats her lunch and leaves everyone laughing. Someone should tell her it isn't going to get her back inside the palace.

But as to that old fart Harkin. He's on the way out and is falling on his sword for the team. But he doesn't hold a candle to some of the more famous cases of resume' kiteing...the most flagrent by far is Lyndon baby. Early in his career Eisenhower gave him an honorary Silver star as a secret gift for helping Ike in his texas presidential campaigning. The unthinkable Johnson decided to wear it at every opportunity showing it off to the deep embarrassment of the Army brass. One of the Generals, contemporary to Lyndons time, said after his death...."Never has there been a more fraudulent Medal awarded in the history of the republic..."...

Hunter, I sent an e-mail to Sen. Harkin. Here goes:
Dear Senator Harkin:

I just want to extend my appreciation for your hard work in speaking out about the Bush Air National Guard military record. Your appearance throughout the broadcast news media is helping Americans to see the true identity of some of their leaders.

It must be a difficult task speaking out against our nation's Commander-in-Chief, yet you've put aside personal feelings to do what you believe is right. It must be hard talking about a President's military record considering your own lies in the past regarding your own military service. It must have pained you to see your own presidential hopes and aspirations dissolve when America discovered you lied about flying combat missions over Vietnam. How difficult to have one's dishonesty displayed nationwide. How fortunate for you that most people, especially the Liberal lackeys in the news media, have very short memories.

You've never allowed your fear of being seen as a hypocrite get in the way of attacking the military records of other. One senses you do not suffer from the malady of shame as most Americans do. You are a unique man, indeed. So bravo, Senator Harkin! You are truly the consummate Progressive politician.

Since I was never in a billet where I had to have a flight Physical is it comman practice to have the service member report to his commanding officer and not the medical officer for the physical? CBS and Dan Rather, in their zeal to hurt the President, seemed to have avoided verifying dates in their phony documents and in the stories being fed to them by the DNC. For instance, one officer cited in a memo was long before the memo was allegedly written. Therefore, his feelings about Bush at the time were totally irrelevent. Also, Ben Barnes who claims that as Lt. Governor of Texas in 1968 he helped Bush jump ahead on a waiting list for the ANG. Problem with that is Barnes didn't become Lt. Governor until 1969. Bush was already in the Guard.

Orders (Memorandum, May 4, 1972) sent to someone need to have verification that the person received them. There is no reply by endorsement block for Bush to have signed it. Also note that official orders are normally printed on official letterhead,(at least that is the way it was done in the Air Force). And finally, ten days is not a lot of time to send someone for a physical. The physical must be scheduled, etc. because it is performed by a flight surgeon and not a podiatrist and more importantly the flight physical is normally performed in the birth month of the individual. Bush was born July 6, 1946.

I know Andrew, he's a good guy, and often makes some good observations, as he did here.

However, and this is not to take away from his insight, Andrew apparently didn't observe the citation of the incorrect regulation, the reason for advancing the May 14 deadline to the day before Bush reported to the Alabama Air National Guard, May 15, nor the three different ways "111th" was typeset in the document.

Clearly, the poster above, Peppermint Patty Partisan this time, is weighing matters on uneven scales.

As a former member of the military (USMC) and having gone through MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) beforehand, you have to fill out a mountain of paperwork. So I can tell you that there is a certain way that the military does everything, including the way it wants you to write down dates. The format is as follows: Day, month, year...e.g., September 11, 2001 is written as 11SEP01. So the dates in question should have been written in the same manner.

It's more than a little sad and sick that these FR people think NOT ONLY that they are the only ones on the internet, but somehow single handedly they are fighting the cause for freedon by typing on a keyboard!

This Pat above is well known and VERY well discredited. Clown posse is a fine new site open to all and though I suppose Pat and her fellow sickos will attempt to shut that site down too, this time they are out checkmated.

All I can say to Pat is this:
We are ALL fighting for the cause, lady. Get over it and join forces, give credit where credit is DUE, or STF up!

The memo thing was a COLLECTIVE internet phenomenon just like blogs (did FR invent them too?)and nobody really cares what the inbred FR discovered 1st second or last and never did.

The article posted at Clown Possee was additional and entirely new information and no credit was asked for.

Certainly no DIScredit is within reason of any normal observer.

I have been googling all differnt variations of the AFM 35-12 (and AFM 35-12) "manual/regulation, and can find nothing.

USAF archives have nothing, the only "replacement" document anybody I have found is for travel pay reimbursement changes. Obviously irrelevent. Or stupidly forged, but who's counting anotehr error at this point?

Only source I can find is a April 27 Kerry-Edwards DNC press release (archived on that web site) that cites BOTH proedures hook, line, and paragraph. Not surprisingly, both the forger and Lt Col Killian also cite these exact paragraphs, but in a different order: as noted above, "the wrong way"
Lt Bush was removed from flight status by a "routine" letter from TexANG headquarters later that summer.

Aside: This ANG order reads more like an admin reference, certainly NOT a "physical exam" procedure. (But then again, who ever said the forger could properly read the DNC press release? )

The ANG letter is the ONLY OTHER authentic web source anywhere that uses AFM 35-13 as a reference. It appears that the 35-13 is a "court of inquiry" manual, telling HOW the 147th should investigate (IF NEEDED) some officer getting removed from flight status.

...

Can any reader, anywhere, get a copy of the paragraphs cited by the DNC. the forger, and Col Killian?

Here's <a href="http://www.... (Below threshold)
Raven:

Here's a PDF of three pages from AFM 35-13, vintage 1971.

Now you can see what's being cited as authority in

(1) the CBS/Killian memo of 1 August 1972 (whose authenticity is being disputed),

and also in

(2) Major General Greenlief's order of 29 September 1972 (whose authenticity has not been disputed) which confirms "verbal orders of the Comdr on 1 Aug 72 suspending 1STLT GEORGE W BUSH... from flying status".

AFM 35-13's Paragraph 2-29m, titled "When a Rated Officer Fails To Accomplish a Medical Examination Prescribed by AFM 160-1", states:

"All rated officers on flying status must accomplish a medical examination annually or biannually (flight surgeons) as prescribed by AFM 160-1. Failure to accomplish a required medical examination disqualifies the officer for flying duty and he will be suspended effective the first day of the month following his birthmonth, citing this paragraph as authority."

(The next block of text discusses investigating "why the individual failed to accomplish the medical examination", and convening a board on the matter.)

Greenlief's order accordingly cites "Authority: Para 2-29m, AFM 35-13."

George W. Bush was born on 6 July 1946. The verbal order suspending him was issued "the first day of the month following his birthmonth", 1 August 1972, according to that undisputed document in Bush's official military records.

The CBS/Killian memo dated 1 August 1972 is stating just what the undisputed record already shows:

"1. On this date I ordered that 1st Lt. Bush be suspended from flight status due to failure to perform to USAF/TexANG standards and failure to meet annual physical examination (flight) as ordered.

"2. I conveyed my verbal orders to commander, 147th Ftr Intrcp Gp with request for orders for suspension and convening of a flight review board IAW AFM 35-13."

Now we can see that this was indeed IAW (in accordance with) AFM 35-13.

So, Kevin, AFM 35-13 does specify (and also refer to AFM 160-1 for) the requirement to take the physical; it does not ONLY specify the suspension that results from failure to comply.
