LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Pop star Jessica Simpson has been cast as Daisy Duke in the big-screen remake of "The Dukes of Hazzard," a project that essentially marks her feature film debut.So they've got a Jackass, Stifler, and now a platymapus. You'd think there'd be a joke in that trio (their respective acting careers are already jokes), but I'm just not seeing it...Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville already had been cast as Bo and Luke Duke, respectively, in the Warner Bros. project. Jay Chandrasekhar is directing. A start date has not yet been set.
The series, which ran on CBS from 1979 to 1985, followed the weekly adventures of southern cousins Bo and Luke -- "just two good ol' boys, never meaning no harm," according to the Waylon Jennings theme song -- who raised hell driving their souped-up Dodge Charger, the General Lee, in fictional Hazzard County. They, along with their cousin Daisy and Uncle Jesse, staged running battles with the corrupt authorities, Boss Hogg and Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane.

Jay Chandrasekhar directed Supertroopers, which was actually far funnier than it had any right to be. At least the casting shows that they have no intention of taking themselves seriously.

Maybe I'll watch it on DVD, and just mute it when she opens her mouth. Casting Knoxville in that is a dumb idea, though. He couldn't even act in MIB2, which wasn't exactly Shakespeare...

Wonder what a chase scene would like at about 12 mph?

If the General Lee has any flags on it they probably won't be confederate flags.

Britney Looks better in some Daisy Dukes but I think its cuz her stomach is getting flabby they didn't cast her. Britney is starting to look like 100% trailer trash.. she could of done the job better than Jessica, If J.Simpson plays Daisy for 1.) she gotta get rid of the blonde hair. and learn to talk country. 2.) Stifler for one of the guys WTF instead of being serious he's going to be a total dumbass. 3.) if they go this much on it they should at least cast Burt Reynolds as Boss Hog. Now that would be funny.

I loved catherine bach as daisy duke and had such a crush on her. usually they can't get anyone as goodlooking in these remakes of old series example charlie's angels but i have to say jessica simpson is about the prettiest thing on the planet and her figure is so curvey and she will more than fill Catherine's bra top i don't doubt...if the strap doesn't snap off and i think she'll have an inch or two free at the waist of the shorts because she has the tinniest waist i've every seen so good for you jessica and its great to see more of you and your up there with the brigit bardots and sophie lorens and raquel welshs in face and figure and your here to stay
