Bill at INDCJournal has another long fly ball. Video seems to show that John Kerry pulled some notes out of his jacket while his back was turned to the audience at the start of the debate. Later video looks like he is unfolding something.
Even if they were not notes, (which is what it really looks like) the rules specifically said the candidates were not allowed to bring anything in with them. Interesting.
(The video has a FOXNews crawler but it was pool cameras so they all have the same footage. )
If they get flooded, Drudge is hosting it too. My bad, I was packing boxes and I looked too fast. He just links it.
update- I was busy so I trusted an emailer. Drudge does host it. Click on the picture in his story.

I also heard that Bush might have had an earpiece in. At one point in the debate, he seems to have said "Let me finish..." or something like it while he was in the midst of his comments.

The cheat sheets I recovered over the years all had either the questions, the answers or both. I wonder which group Kerry's crib notes belongs in.
Prior access to the moderators questions would fit with the other media escapades witnessed during the past few months. I guess that's impossible given the right-wing media culture at PBS.

Further evidence of Bush's earpiece, aside from his phantom comment, is the lump under his jacket clearly visible from behind that are consistent with a transmitter/receiver unit. Or perhaps he just has an unusually protrusive T6 vertebrae?
You see, the TV agreement stipulated no shots from behind. Looks like Bush got caught out on both that and the split screen/reaction shots (he cannot have known his impatient sneers were being broadcast to 60 million viewers, could he?).

I would suggest a better screening for Moderator, and an over-all willingness to resist the temptation to undermine the individual decisions of the American People.
This moderator should NOT have over-looked the removal of "ANYTHING" from the suit coat of a candidate (President or Senator) under this agreement.
Also, who gave Senator Kerry permission to make opening statements, in which he named specific individuals(s)? [Chap 5; section b and c]
There is a reason why opening statements, isolated flattery, and complements, are not permitted.
Last: According to [Chapter 9. STAGING; paragraph 5] camera angles of only the candidate during the time that candidate is speaking, is permissible. No side angle shots away from the speaking candidate.
We all saw where these TV-cutaways of President Bush were later used.

JML -- No one kicked anyone's ass. Kerry won the debate based on his slick presentation. However, you gave us much to ponder should he be elected.
The Global Test? Asking allies to help us in a situation he himself calls "a grand diversion?" Bringing back the Clintonistas if he's elected (Fox News reported that this morning)? Plus the sundry lies and half-truths that are the hallmark of the Democrat Party. Kerry won -- and everyone knows it -- because he was able to re-invent himself yet again. For all of Bush's flubs and debate deficiencies, Americans know exactly where he stands. Whereas with Kerry, we need his surrogates to clearify what he said, deny what he said, explain what he really meant, and argue that he's been consistant and he's not a flip-flopper. Also, the Chicago Sun-Times has an interesting story on Kerry bugging out in Vietnam when he thought his Swift Boat unit was under attack. The article explains that he left the other boats to fend for themselves and it was his frantic retreat that caused Rassman to fall of the boat.

Kerry is elected, he's sitting down with his military advisers discussing the war in Iraq. They are going over this 150 page document that everyone was supposed to go over. Our military men, are of course military men so they are gung-ho about nuking the middle east and getting it over with. So they press him to do it. Now in the 150 page document it describes some operatives that are in Iraq that have discovered some important information that could bring the war to a close.
"What's your call Mister President?" the General asks?
With his jaw slightly opened, he looks up, then back at the General trying to give his 'strong face' "Nuke them."
A week later its discovered that had he read the document this could have been avoided and the millions of innocents could have been saved.
"I read the document, at least, I read it before I didn't read it. I mean I ment to say I read some of it. I was for the reading of the document before I was against it."

I saw it - I even saw it again today but no one still said anything about him taking those notes out of his pocket and now he's going after stem cell research. So now he's going to shut down the missle defense system, get in bed with the French, give nuclear fuel to Iran and make robots.
Dear God, how can he be tied with Bush in the polls?

Good question Firstbrokenangel. I've heard a lot of veterans scratching their heads wondering the same thing.
There are either a lot more lemmings out there than I thought or I'm missing something. I'm going with the former, how 'bout you?
The truth has way of coming out eventually. A wise person said that once, and it's true. Eventually, Kerry will be shown for what he is, in blazing, irrefutable color. I firmly believe this. (I'm hoping for asap on that...)

Kettleblack's first link: "Well-detailed cheat sheet?" Where? If it's so easy to tell they are "well-detailed," then what do they say? No. What we really see is a long shot of papers on Bush's podium. They could be anything. Then we are presented a couple of blocky zooms of the first image. They don't help one bit.
Second link: Blurry images and links to equally (if not moreso) blurry GIFs processed from the raw video. Go to Drudge. Find the link to the actual reverse-shot video. From the video, it's clear that Bush approaches the podium, picks up the pen and clicks it. The motion is unmistakable.
Nice try, Bush-bashers, but no cigar, medals or purple hearts. Your guy was caught cheating and now you are just desperately trying to draw attention away from it. Just admit that your candidate can't or won't follow even simple rules like "don't bring anything to the podium."

Has anyone read this?! I'm wondering if the POST is now engaged in parody, because this article is preposterous:
"...the mystery was solved when The Post reviewed a Fox News Channel feed from Thursday's debate: Kerry pulled out . . . a black pen."
The article continues on to quote Kerry campaigners ranting about "the rightwing attack machine" and I then read TeresaHK ranting abouy Bush "allowing Osama Bin Laden to escape" and that many things Kerry said during the debate were outright lies, among other things...
IF KERRY took "a black pen" out of his coat jacket, HE STILL VIOLATED THE RULES, he still cheated. There's nothing in any grey area about that, as per the rules the two campaigns/candidates agreed to beforehand.
HOWEVER, IF that object Kerry removed from his suit coat was "a black pen," it WAS A HUGE BLACK PEN THAT REFLECTED A LOT OF WHITE/GREY COLOR. Musta' been Kerry's "magic pen." Yeah, THAT'S what it was, Kerry's magic pen.
Pretty sad when the grovelling, deplorable Democrats try to make something oogey out of "republicans...(reacting to/about)...Kerry's big hands."
I assure you: Kerry is representational of anything sexual or stimulating as is a pile of yucky, disgusting crud. I find the very person of John Kerry to be completely repugnant. Can't even lie well, but he sure has big hyands, I suppose we Republicans are ~supposed to be thinking~ if you read Liberal screed about us.
Very repulsive screed, at that.

It truly is amazing what some people will buy. Go look at the tape again -- take a look at both Kerry and Bush at the time; they are BOTH pulling something out of their jackets. I know you all get off on the idea of such a fantastic mistake; but do you really think that anyone would be stupid enough to pull out a "cheat sheet" in front" of a host of cameras? It just goes to show how paranoid some people have become.

Take a closer look at that Hippy Parade from Berkeley (photos on many sites)...the tall guy walking in the second row of, um, naked "protestors," the really tall guy with the tiny business. You just can never tell because height and business isn't always correlated well.

Alright how dumb do you all realyl think you sound right now having an arguement over if john kerry pulled a peice of paper out of his jacket, there were papers on the podduem anyways who cares if they violated the rules either one they got their points across except bush was kinda busy getting terribly beat down, but anyways and the fact that you sit there and say all that stuff about john kerry and him being repugnant is pathetic look at bush damn, you could put him on a cereal box and hed look like the monkey off of coca crispies. Saying that kerry lied about like any of the issues is probably horse shit, ive heard very few things that have been proven bad abotu kerry where as george has been caught redhanded lieing to us. If you even say that he didnt lie about the iraqi war your definently a lieing bastard even the most uneducated person would knwo that. I would get to more posts but i cant handle the dumbshit you all put in them
