With a rather cryptic headline and no link
"FOXNEWS O'REILLY SUES FOR EXTORTION"
Drudge claims a "world exclusive" to something he just doesn't say what. I have no idea what it means but by golly if Drudge has the flashing light out, then it must be something. Right? Right?
Updates below fold.. It is kind of juicy.
UPDATE: "FOXNEWS's BILL O'REILLY SUES MANHTTAN LAWFIRM AND FOX EMPLOYEE CLAIMING EXTORTION SCHEME... FOX EMPLOYEE DEMANDED NO LESS THAN $60 MILLION IN HUSH MONEY FROM O'REILLY, THE SUIT CLAIMS."
So far it looks like a yawner. People always try to extort big names. Though O'Reilly, being such a hot head, does seem an ill advised choice.
More (server dead)
Drudge has more. Apparently someone tried accusing O'Reilly of sexual harassment to get 60 million in hush money.
More from a server that works better.
My Take- I'm no attorney and I've only heard one side of the case but it looks like Fox and O'Reilly are going to smack these people all over the courtroom.

I love drudge, but the story isn't a world exclusive if it's already being reported in Business Wire.
I think the more important story is the fact the FEC wants to regulate political activity on the net. That is not cool.

Damn, it's a woman! The complaint, of course, only portrays one side, but I do have to wonder why she returned to Fox and why she is still working there. I wonder what the one block excerpt they did release to Fox and BOR said. Still, it doesn't look good for the producer.

- Bet the law firm also does biz with that broadcasting group...
- This will just build on O'Reilly's popularity...When are the idiots on the left going to realize this guy is bullet proof and stop using their own feet for target practice...
- O'Reilly loves this stuff...Goads them into it and they always take the bait....

live on earth Ted and the sky is blue.
BOR has rendered himself irrelevant to the kind of people that would tolerate his brand of commentary. Namely straight shooters. His reflexive defense of Rather and out of hand dismissal of the SBVT and more recently his ugly unwarranted disdain of decorated POW's and their attempt to tell their side of the story will result in diminished viewers and a ratings decrease.
All things come to an end and that is were it's at for him. Only an idiot would continue to watch. May I add you to that category?

Jim, methinks your reflexive defense of Ted's point is no better or worse than what you accuse BOR of.
Regardless of your opinion of BOR, Ted is correct in stating the his ratings are as high as ever, and I suspect that this situation will only increase the curiousity factor for those non-viewers now.....
Frankly, wife and I only enjoy the first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes of the show anymore, just so you don't think i'm some sort of BOR apologist.

It's not a news show, it's an opinion show with news items and interviews.

As a cop, I've appeared on Bill O'Reilly's shows (TV and radio) a few times. He's always been fair to me, even though I don't agree with him on most issues. He's an incredibly gracious person and he seems to treat his staff quite well. I find it hard to believe that he's guilty of sexual harassment or any kind of workplace misconduct.

Update! O'Reilly Hit With Sex Harass Suit.
Hours after Bill O'Reilly accused her of a multimillion shakedown attempt, a female Fox News producer fired back at the TV star today, filing a lawsuit claiming that he subjected her to repeated instances of sexual harassment and spoke often, and explicitly, to her about phone sex, vibrators, threesomes, masturbation, the loss of his virginity, and sexual fantasies.

I have no problem buying into BOR being a letch. But the woman says she was harassed for years and left for CNN and a higher paying job. Still, she returned to FOX. Before she came back she alledges BOR threatened her. Then there all these mastubatory phone calls. My God, woman, hang up! Anyway, she doesn't come across sympathetic. However, the text in the complaint reads like she taped conversations adding to her credibility. I bet Bill's defense is that he was trying out dialogue for one of his new novels. :-)

Bill's Attorney says 'Bring It On!'
Bill O'Reilly's lawyer, Ronald Green, said he believes there are tapes of conversations between the two and asked a court to compel Mackris to produce them so they could be played publicly. "I know that he does not fear what is on the tapes," Green said. Morelli would not comment on whether any taped phone conversations exist.

I've noticed over the past month or two O'Baby, I mean O'Reily, has been sliding to a more moderate tone... Not wanting to judge Dan Rather, Martha Stewart, etc.
I think the woman is a flea trying ping him, but that said, it's pretty clear the speaking style, the detailed comments and style of speech are clearly classic O'Reilly.
It's not good for him or Fox. Time for the right to steal the conspiracy stick from the looney libs:
She left Fox... went to CNN, became the Manchurian Producer, infiltrated back into Fox just to ping the "Big" guy. :-o
The sad part is, a very articulate person, in regards to some conservative matters, is GOING to take a massive credibility hit. I hate that.
But if there's one thing about most conservatives, we DO NOT- as the dems do- blindly follow. We do have standards.
Watching O'Reilly talk about this on his "talking points" segment tonight, I kept thinking about Clinton wagging his fingers and talking about "that woman" and also how he cornered Dan Rather on if he thought Clinton was honest. We MUST be intellectually honest in our dealings.
