Lawrence O'Donnell Is Losing It

Lorie Byrd at PoliPundit was watching Scarborough Country tonight, and says guest host Lawrence O'Donnell is losing it.

I am watching Scarborough Country right now and Lawrence O'Donnell has just lost it. He has been yelling at John O'Neill for about 12 minutes and called him a liar at least a couple dozen times during that same time period. He has continued to shout John O'Neill down after returning from commercial and now just called him a creepy liar. He has not let O'Neill get a word in edgewise and has not answered any charges beyond calling them lies. I can't wait to get the trascript of this one. The Left is in total meltdown. I have never seen them this hysterical. Smells like raving desperation to me. If anyone else saw this I would love your comments.
Michelle Malkin has the creepy screen cap of the enraged O'Donnell and the calm, collected O'Neill and some "screw the troops" quotes from O'Donnell.

If you're interested in what O'Neill may have said, had he got a word in edgewise, check out my interview with him from earlier this week.

Update: Don't miss The Worst Liberal Meltdown contest at PoliPundit.

Lawrence O'Donnell lost it ... (Below threshold)
Teri:

Lawrence O'Donnell lost it at least a few weeks ago. He has been drippingly angry on both McLaughlin Group and MSNBC every time that I have seen him recently (which is a lot). He is the one who has been creepy - he went from a cultured, polished smart guy to a rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth partisan in like zero to 60 seconds. I saw him tonight and was totally disgusted that he kept shouting over John O'Neill. O'Donnell makes Pat Buchanan look like a fluffy happy bunny in comparison.

BTW, O'Neill was great. Nothing bothers him. I have seen him subjected to enormous abuse in the last several months and I have never seen him do anything but wait patiently for the abuser to wind down. He is totally unflappable.

Oh, heck, I missed it! I did hear him one or two nights ago say something outrageous. He and other guests were ranting about Bush's faith. O'Donnell started saying any time Carter mentioned God, he was a liar, when Clinton mentioned God he was a liar, and down the line. I'm an atheist and I was taken back by his bitterness. I just looked at the transcripts, but of course can't find it.

I can't believe the abuse O'Neill has taken. The man has the patience of Job. I wish when people like Matthews and O'Donnell are that rude there were some repercussions. A couple of weeks ago, Scarborough crossed the line in his criticism of Bush, too. He certainly had the right to criticize him but it was so over the top I had to turn it off. Bleh, everybody has a big head these days.

Huck:

It's actually very sad. I remember seeing O'Donnell in 1998 on TV talking about the whole Clinton scandal. He was pretty even-handed, and in fact, took a lot of abuse from liberals because he was so hard on Clinton.

He's gone from a pretty sane, balanced liberal who wasn't a total partisan hack to a Kerry-at-all-costs partisan. He was an aide to Pat Moynihan for years, and my only guess (and this is total speculation on my part) is that he must have befriended Kerry.

Also, he came of age during Vietnam. I've heard him say how Kerry saved him from being drafted and being sent to Vietnam (nevermind that it was Alan Greenspan and Milton Friedman who are actually responsible for ending the draft in the Nixon administration).

He despises the Vietnam War and gives Kerry an inordinate amout of credit for ending it. Again, speculation on my part, but that's probably another reason he's so in the tank for Kerry and also gets enraged when anyone points out that some Kerry's anti-war activities were less than honorable.

If EVER there was a man of ... (Below threshold)
-S-:

If EVER there was a man of steel, a real one, it is John O'Neill. The composure and maturity and sanity displayed by O'Neill in the face of O'Donnell's utter possessed, psychotic rage was above and beyond nearly any human being's capacity.

All O'Donnell needs to do is continue to "share" his horrible presence and abusive cowardice on national television a little bit longer, along with same by Chris Matthews and Colmes and the ongoing yelping visits by the various "Democratic spokesperson"s on FOX, and it will help undecideds avoid them at the polls by voting for President Bush and V.P. Cheney.

The Democrats have become their worst enemy. No wonder they need so much "support" from celebrities and such...I mean, just look at the pitiable state of mental, emotional and spiritual illness plaging the DNC today.

In 2000, Matthews and O'Donnell were, by comparison, actually "moderate" among Liberals but whatever has happened to them recently, just seems to indicate to me something akin to the rages by the desperate bent on blood, blood, and more blood. If not blood, then what? Souls? Lives? Your children and wives? Because that's the level of fanaticism that's being displayed by todays Democrats all over the airwaves.

If ever John O'Neill behaved with heroism, he did so on this MSNBC broadcast with O'Donnell. It sure speaks volumes about the pitiable state of MSNBC, that they'd subject anyone, ANYone, to what they subjected O'Neill, and that they'd allow anyone, ANYone, even remotely as mentally and emotionally ILL as was O'Donnell to remain on the air past about one or two minutes.

The man has a huge problem, more than likely, many of them, but it is nearly unforgivable that any network in the Western world would allow someone of his disturbed personality to remain on the air. But, O'Neill proved his heroism with that appearance, and it was remarkable how well he behaved, sustained himself.

I'd really like to have this done before this election. Wish someone would leak some of it to kinda get the ball rolling. :)

Why is Joe Scarborough allowing his show to be guest-hosted by a raving leftie? Is he trying to make his already sorry ratings sorrier? I agree the lefties look positively rabid on TV. Yesterday I was impressed with how calm and reserved Republican spokespersons behaved during TV appearances, while the Dems bahaved like insane wash women.

Look at what two lefties did to Ann Coulter during her book tour. They started throwing pies ate her and actually missed only hitting her on the shoulder (she said these guys threw like girls). Of course, that shows how stupid lefties are: what sane person would attack the lovely, intelligent and right-wing Coulter in an auditorium full of Republican men? Needless to say, the pie throwers would thrashed within an inch of their lives by some GOP guys. Hey, I would have done the same if lefties attacked Ann in my presense. Not only are the lefties rabid, they're stupid as well. LOL

Jim:

You'd act like a looney tune, too, if you had a candidate you knew was as lame as John Kerry. I think they say outrageous things in an effort to convince themselves he's a real contender, rather than the product of hatred for Republicans. I mean, how would you feel if you had to go on national TV and in front of millions of viewers have to say things like, "John Kerry's position on _____ (fill-in the blank) has been consistant. And what about Halliburton." You'd be pretty pissed off, too. LOL.

- The Dem majority understand they've been bamboozled into backing a total left wing-nut renegade loser from the 70's. They're panicky because they just don't want to face the situation and they don't know what to do about it. They thought this was going to be "their year" after what they saw was a massive screwup with Gore in 2000....

- The wheels are coming off their wagon and its a bitter pill to swallow. I would'nt be supprised to see some protestor actions that get so far over the line there will be voter booth rioting and mob scenes along with police baracades and mass jailing's. The left needs to be brought back down to earth and into the Amrican mainstream again. They have spent to much time snarfing on the bongs and reading their own crazy rhetoric....

- Some of it has already started with raids on Republican headquarters ( some 18 occurences at last count ) and bullying and in your face interference at early polling places...

- Might have to think about taking a ballbat with you when you vote and going as a crowd...Sad sad situation that we are acting like this. Must be looking pretty bad in the eyes of the world....

I agree with Peter. The Dems must "see the handwriting OTW"(internal polling data). What I am mainly concerned about is the behavior after Bush is re-elected."Mama Mia"It could actually be something bordering on anarchy. The liberal activists are so rabid in mentality, that I would not be surprised if Martial Law had to be declared to quell the situation that may arise. We on the "Right"side of things should draw off the example of the 'quiet strength and dignity"that Mr. O'Neill has displayed.

I saw the segment. It was hard to watch. O’Donnell offered no references/proof for his position. Without anything of substance to say, he instead chose to scream “you’re a liar, you’re a liar”…and nothing could be done to quiet him. This simple minded irrational seething hatred is now apparently accepted behavior by the left.

Fox News' Juan Williams does similar things. He's constantly saying the Swifties were discredited without offering anything that discredits what they say. What I don't understand is whats the payoff for them?...having a candidate you hate in the white house... and I don't buy the "I hate Bush" trundle... That looks more like a case of "I want the Dems to win but I don't want to be associated with Kerry's extreme leftist, anti-American, socialistic idea's" ....

BTW, I saw one of the evening cable news shows last week (It may have been Scarborough). They had an editor from one of the major papers/news agencies as a guest. The questions went something like this:
Q: A lot of the major papers did a recount of the Florida 2000 election results. You would actually know this. So who really won?
A: It depends of course on how you count the ballots. But all independent organizations agree it was Bush.

It would be great if someone remembers which show it was or could provide a link to the transcript. I’d like to have some solid documentation to addresses the urban legend that Bush didn’t "actually" win.

Steve:

Sorry, but the postings here are incorrect. I'll try not to go over the top, but O'Donnell was great. It was time that someone called O'Neill. Nixon and Hoover investigated John Kerry in the 70's when everything was fresh. If HOOVER couldn't find anything, well, it doesn't exist. O'Neill has campaigned for Kerry before. He was intimately involved with the Bush campaign. He claims that Kerry filed a report, which Kerry and the man who filed the report disagree. Decent, reasoned debate is important for a well-informed public. Allowing John O'Neill to lie over and over and over is not "Hearing both sides." It should have been stopped months before. Attacking Kerry for going to Viet Nam, fighting, being injured, having men who were in the boat with him support him, and waiting 30 years to "reveal" his "facts" shows the real desperate perpatrator. Good Work Lawrence O'Donnell
