Political sign language

On the way home from work tonight, while stuck at a red light, I saw a bunch of guys holding up "KERRY-EDWARDS" signs. I honked to get their attention. When one of them looked over at me, I held up both hands to give him a double "V" symbol.

The guy was thrilled. He nudged his buddies, and they all grinned at me and gave me thumbs up.

Then I pulled my hands together and joined my fingertips to make the two "V's" into a single "W."

The guy's smile turned chagrined and he changed to a thumbs down.

Then the light turned green and I drove off.

Damn, it felt good.

Jay,

Good sign brah. I was on the freeway recently and saw a "W04' sticker on the car in front of me. I pulled up and gave 'em the old three fingers up 'W' sign and they dug it, my bro in the know. Then reflexively, I flexed the outside walls of my big W as if they were crumbling down and left 'em with a big 'ol bird. Jay, they hated it, but I hadda hand it to 'em for gettin it as Bushies are a little slow on the uptake. So here's to you Jay.

Signing off,

Herby, I didn't flip them off. They didn't flip me off. It remained a polite and civil exchange.

You, on the other hand, simply confirmed that you are an asshole. Thanks for saving us the time to figure that out later.

Get with the 21st Century. For that matter, get with the late 20th Century. The President has secure real-time communications to anyone that he wants to speak to from Crawford, Texas. Anyone that needs to get in touch with him, can.

My BIL was on the rotary in Derry where there were a group on Kerry supporters with their signs. He honked his horn and waved and they got all excited, jumping up and down. So he made another pass and honked again, and they were going nuts to find a supporter. The third pass when he honked, he then held up his mini Bush sign that he got at a Bush rally in Manchester. The K supporters were ticked.
A few days later he saw them there again and did the same routine. I guess he's seen them there a few times since then and he says that they fall for it every time.

I guess that was not a priority while he was taking off most of the month of August 2001.

Must be nice!

President ridicules foe's 'wild charges'
By Bill Sammon
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

President Bush yesterday accused Sen. John Kerry of making "wild charges" about missing explosives in Iraq and mocked the Democrat for belatedly expressing concern over weapons stockpiles.

"The senator is making wild charges about missing explosives when his top foreign-policy adviser admits, quote, 'We do not know the facts,' " he said ...

"Think about that: The senator is denigrating the actions of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts."

Son Of The Godfather:

Totally out of character for me:

Coming out of our local Trader Joe's store (in good ol' wacky CA), a table to my right with Bush/Cheney stickers, a couple of pamphlets, and a fund jar manned (personed?) by two lovely older ladies.

To the left, a table with a large sign demanding "BUSH OUT!"... A display stood on an easle behind the table about... yes, The Draft, and another sign prompting folks to "Change Parties Here".

I simply was not myself for a few moments... I looked at the Dem table with many many folks walking in and out of the store and said quite loudly "The draft?!? You folks are STILL clinging to THAT straw??"

The poor ladies there turned red and started to gibber, but then I channeled DeNiro from the theater scene in "Cape Fear" (the one where he's smoking on that cigar and laughing really loud) and I just cackled the most mocking laughter that ever came out of me.

At the same time I had stunned these misguided sheep, I walked over to the Bush/Cheney table (still laughing, and yes, people were were stopped and watching, it was quite a scene... again, out of character for me) deposited the small monetary contents of my wallet into their jar, and they handed me several "W" stickers.

I stopped laughing just long enough to tell the Bush/Cheney folks "Keep up the great work, ladies!", turned back to the Dem table, and began the extra-loud laughing as I walked back to my car.

I heard clapping behind me. (remember, this is in CA!)

Driving home, I couldn't believe that that was ME who just did that. I looked in the mirror to see a huge grin that didn't subside for hours.

So, O.K., if SonOfTheGodfather right here in wacky CA can share without reservation, so will I:

Another tale from wacky CA...

No political signs for either candidate in this entire city, other than an aged "DEAN" sticker in a neighbor's window several blocks away, and yet, right down the block from me, two, three, four windows filled with BUSH/CHENEY signs and stickers and even a hand-lettered thing filled with reasons why to vote for BUSH/CHENEY.

So, I deduce this: given that the area is notoriously liberal (near a University of CA campus, is why) but in a conservative town and county, there SHOULD be at least a few stickers here and there for Kerry. But there aren't. Not one. Not one car bumper sticker, not one yard sign, not one window sign.

Just the lone neighbor with an abundance of BUSH/CHENEY signs in several windows. AND THAT'S the residence of at least one college student that I know of.

So, just saying, it looks like BUSH/CHENEY is leading in this part of wacky CA.

Im from AZ, and I do my fair share of driving, through North Phoenix, all the way to Tempe/Mesa. (about 30 miles each way. I have been keeping track for the last week (in my head) of how many bumper stickers/signs I see for each candidate. I am currently at 27 Bush, 8 Kerry. Not counting the sticker on my car, my wifes car, or the sign in our yard. GO BUSH!!
