It will be announced at 1:30 pm Eastern Standard Time. It hsould have been announced last Thursday. They may have to drive a wooden stake thru his heart to make it official.

Sundown on Palestinian Independence Day, Nov. 15th.
If Arafat makes a miraculous recovery between now and then, the next Palestinian Holiday (I believe) is Fatah Day on January 1st, which of course would probably mean that December 31st will see the announcement of Arafat's death.

I think the PC term for Arafat is "undead".
I think they keep him on ice until Tuesday, for the Lailat al-Kader. This way, his death holds all sorts of religious symbolism. I wonder if they'll lay him out like Lenin, all preserved under glass??? EWW, that would be COOL!

There are factions that want Arafat dead and others that want him temporarily alive, so perhaps the French are auctioning his future to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, though, if the French can verify that there are PLO billions stashed in French banks (right next to Saddam's cash) and no one has the account #'s or codes then the valves get screwed shut forthwith.
Best guess: I'd say the old butcher stays "alive" until Saturday, when we're off the news cycle, at 8:00 PM local time, too late for France's evening news broadcasts.

How about this wild ass idea! Arafat is actually undergoing a "total makeover" so that he can leave his Ramallah prison and join his "fabulous" wife on the French Riviera. New face, new physique bought through the billions he has stashed away. Everyone is in cahoots because they will share in the big payoff. He will blend in unrecognized.
