Is it supposed to be satire?

The ironically-challenged Barbara from mahablog has a post so --- well--- OK I'll say it -- So stupid, she has to be being satirical.

The death toll from the tsunami continues to climb. Reuters UK is reporting 63,000 dead. The World Health Organization estimates that as many people could die of infectious disease in the aftermath of the disaster. ...

President Bush has shamed our nation by pledging only $15 million for disaster aid. His upcoming coronation is expected to cost more than twice that. So, as want and disease and famine and grief spread over much of the earth, the Boy King will be whooping it up in grandly austentatious [sic] style. ...

The impact of this disaster is beyond calculation. The earth was knocked off its axis. Islands have changed locations. Entire families, probably some entire communities, are lost. Surely this is a time for humans to pull together as a species, as fellow inhabitants of our planet, and do whatever we can.

In this "pulling together" are we supposed to follow Barbara's lead? Nothing pulls people together like calling the President a nation shaming, Boy King now does it???

For her sake, I hope that's satire... Because either that is satire or that was just a colossally stupid thing to write.

It was almost as stupid as the UN saying we don't spend enough money...on them? HA! Yes, and we should also pay more taxes! You see, if we have our own money, we cannot decide what trustworthy org.'s to donate to, instead of having the gov't rip us off! Hehehe. Hey Kofi...go suck an egg.

I guess you think that the US should do what ever it takes to stay the supreme global super power. It doesnt matter what happens to the rest of the world. George Bush is doing great things for the world isnt he.

Now thats satire for you.

"If the Earth has been knocked off its axis how come its still snowing here in the North of Scotland?"

Before you ridicule others statements you need to think. A small shift in the earths rotational axis wont stop it from snowing in Scotland. You have been watching too many movies.

Sorry for that last post but I sometimes lose my temper with those who believe questioning things the Bush administration does is America bashing. But, I believe to not criticize things our country does if one disagrees with it is unpatriotic. Google Thomas Jefferson quotes. Also, pride is one of the seven deadly sins. Once again, I apologize for my previous rapid post and obscene language.

Second that. That's the difference between the US (at least the non-moonbats) and the rest of the world that the world just can't grasp - we don't need or want the government doing everything for us. We can take care of ourselves, thank you, and we'll take care of others by ourselves too. Lemme see, which will be more effective at disseminating money to the people affected by this earthquake/typhoon...

1) The American government, who cannot even balance its daily budget, and has no fucking clue how to plan for the future.

2) Charity organizations specially geared towards getting money from people to people.

Additionally, the American government should have never started being a charity, anywhere in its past. Sadly, people like you have shoved it down that path, and here we are, suckered into the situation of being taxed out the ass just to help other people, without any voice in the matter. If you want to help others, fine, do it, and be merry. Me, I want a fucking choice.

As for Bush-hating, there are hundreds of superb reasons to truly hate Bush, his administration and his party. Perhaps this is your way avoiding a serious discussion of the immoral crimes of Bush.

-He lied about WMD's
-Thousands of people died as a result.
-The VP is personally profiting from the war.
-His party consciously appeals to bigots in order to get votes.

For Steve, who at least seems to have the excuse of being a foreigner, and everybody whining about how much more we're spending on Iraq than the tsunami victims, I present the preamble to the US Constitution, the charter under which are government operates:

No mention of "developing the nation" (though some parts of that could be coverered by the general welfare clause).
No mention at all of helping the poor and suffering elswhere.
There however is a mention of promoting the common defense, which certainly covers Iraq.

In reading through your comments I have just a few suggestions:
1. Buy a dictionary & learn to spell
2. Where did you get "observable reality", that doesn't make any sense. Ever heard the term 'ambiguous?
3. Get counseling or join a support group that really cares about your 'bleeding heart'. From the tone and tenor you don't come off as the bleeding heart kind of person.

I love to read this sparring...blog on some more. I get more pleasure reading these than watching what's currently available on local TV here in Malaysia. Really...I'm not being sarcastic.
Ok..there's the Bush bangers that hate, despise, blah, blah ,blah the President. Look in the mirror, you couldn't mount a better candidate to run against him...what does that say about the Demo party?
Ok..George pledges $35mil (whatever) or so to the Tsunami relief fund and somebody's complaining. I say 'shut the hell up', accept that amount and piss off. Despite what some micron mentality bloggers say, this whole event wasn't cause by global warming, failure to sign the Kyoto accords, second hand smoke, or cellphone radiation. It was the end result of a process that started years before we started trashing the planet. Guess what...it's not our fault. Call it Mother Nature, 'shit happens'. Also consider that these affected nations should have known about the danger coming...they had time if their governments had only done what they were supposed to do, what they are entrusted to do, what they have moral responsibility to do. Oh sorry, I forgot these countries don't necessariliy operate on that "of the people, by the people, for the people" concept. Thanks Mr. Lincoln.
The point is:
Is it the US government's responsibility to hand out taxpayer money to foreign nations that, due to their own criminal stupidity, laziness and corruption, have left their citizenry unprotected? No!!!! It is your decision as an occupant on the planet as to whether you wish to donate anything. If you do, good for you...if you don't personally pull some cash out of your pocket...that is your decision and your right.
You see, most the people in those effected countries don't give a rat's ass about America other than when she hands out cash. Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India...when was the last time you heard good news coming from here? Many will say that they like Americans but hate the American Government. So what the American Gov gives really doesn't mean shit. American will probably doll out more personal wealth to charity orgs focusing on the tsunami than any other country. It usually works out that way.
I live in SE Asia and have already seen their emergency services in action (or maybe that's inaction). It's only after these events that some of these governments wake up and suggest a conference, which starts an hearing, which forms an Action Committee, which selects a Advisory Board, that doesn't do a [email protected]$%ing thing but spend millions of the taxpayer's money.

Actually, it comes under "secure the common defense." See, you might not believe in diplomacy or the efficiacy of foreign aid in promoting democracy or western values abroad, but I've got this thing called The Marshall Plan and a few chaps by the name of Vaclav Havel and Viktor Yuschenko who might want to respectfully disagree.

Fact is, if the USA and all us "free people" didn't do it, I can think of a few rich ol' countries in the Middle East who'd be more than happy to walk in and provide support to the Islamic nations of Indonesia et. al. Simple, almost Kissingerian in its realism. That's why it matters.
