Purple is the color of the night for President Bush's State Of The Union address.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Rep. Bobby Jindal is planning to demonstrate solidarity with Iraqi voters by dipping a finger in purple ink before President Bush's State of the Union speech Wednesday.Personally I'd like to see the President deliver a line such as the following, "We stand with the people of Iraq in giving the finger to terrorists." Then he would display his purple ink stained index finger. In a letter to be circulated Wednesday among fellow lawmakers, Jindal, R-La., said he would have ink available for anyone attending the speech who wanted to make a gesture of support for Iraqis and "people throughout the world who seek freedom."

Why not? One more empty gesture or cynical photo-op isn't going to make any difference.
Do you think he'll talk about how his regime has let Al Qaeda get away while they were shooting up Baghdad?

Great idea! What better way to show our solidarity with every human being yearning to be free?
Hey Don, under the bridge there: Where exactly did anyone let Al Qeada get away? I dare you to tell that to any US military commander.

If I were giving the speech I would say "Fuc- the terrorists, CNN , NBC and all their supporters" That is probably just one of many reasons he's President and I am not. God bless Bush!

Our Leader could singlehandedly whoop the ass of any ten of those terrists, even if they do have purple fingers. Especially if it's just a bunch more of those thousands of A-rabs and their kids that he can cluster-bomb or accidentally-precision-smart-bomb, and if he can hide behind some real armor while he does it, not that scrap those other boys get. He is a highly trained, elite-champagne-unit fighter-trainer-jet pilot who once bravely defended the skies of Texas from imaginary enemies on days when he was medically approved to fly. He is not a smirky little wuss-ass who'd run crying to hide under Daddy's skirt, squealing about Jeebus and gays, so Liberals need to stop saying that.

Paul, that must be it. I still end up scratching my head when I see certain comments that don't fit the post.
it would be nice if this gained traction for tonight's speech*. it would serve as the statement most people can appreciate, like flags after 9/11: the symbol of an American public celebrating freedom.
*I have to admit that the "finger" meme is kinda funny, but something positive is dearly wanted right now in the face of the negative MSM news, like Newsweek's cover this week: "The Insurgents: Who They Are and Why the Election Won't Stop Them." sad.

Re: Paul's observation
This morning, driving in to work, a major morning show (on DC 101 in the Balto/Washington area) played a clip of a reporter at the Punxa-whatever Groundhog Day event, with some guy in the background screaming "F--K BUSH" over and over, at least like 5 or 6 times. Just randomly. I don't know if the original report (wherever they got it) was live or not, but the rebroadcast was of course bleeped.
It dawned on me that I have never, ever heard of a single case of a conservative doing anything even close to this childish. Never saw anybody screaming "F--K KERRY" at his campaign rallies (or anywhere else, for that matter), never heard of dem vans getting their tires slashed, never heard of dem campaign offices getting shot up.
I mean, imagine you're from Alpha Centuri and you just wander on to the planet with nothing but an English-to-Centauri translator. Can you honestly tell me that one side won't seem just a tad more unbalanced than the other? Do these guys think they have a real shot at actually governing other people?

Paul & tee-bee,
The unspoken assumptions in your comments are "ability to read" and "comprehension."
I think not. QED.
I keep waiting for an honest dialog, not a rant.
