Wake up Black America!!! Yo... (Below threshold)

Wake up Black America!!! You're PAWNS of the "Left." Howard Dean just said so!!! And who says Hotel staff are predominately Black?

I'm hoping one day that all the average black men and women of America wake up and realize that all of this pandering that the Democratic party is doing... is motivated purely by partisan politics and individual agendas.

Howard Dean is nothing more than a cowardly lion: full of hot air.

Julia:

Let's see, we have Condi for Sec of State, Carlos Gutierrez for Sec of Commerce, Gonzalez for Attorney General. And Bush is going to resubmit black female Janice Rodgers Brown for the judicial bench. But don't forget that Bush and the republicans are racist & sexist.

Howard Dean, for all his talk, has no blacks on his staff while governor of Vermont. And now he's implying that most of the hotel maids are black.

No double standard here.

Considering who he was talking to, I'd say all the RNC would have to do is, to paraphrase James Carville, drag a $100 bill through the House of Representatives.

What the democrat leadership has apparently overlooked is Dean's personal agenda; to turn the democrat party into a bona fide DSM IV category of mental illness. He is clearly out of his mind.

If a conservative had a made a remark about hotel staff being minorities you can assure his head would be on a stake in front of the leftie HQ and in the press.

Go ahead, Dean, make another crack about Southerners, or minorities and reveal your true bigoted feelings.

I first saw this quote on BOTW two days ago and it immediately struck me as 'sticky'; one those rare but emotive sound bites that come back again and again to color future narrative about the speaker.

My prediction: this quote will be ricocheting around the blogosphere for a few days, building up steam and will eventually bleed out to the mainstream press. Dean will be forced to issue an apology, and will suffer something of a black-eye for it.

So that's like "colored people," right?

Or perhaps what the Democruddy Party is trying to tell us minorities (I'm an oriental, fyi) is:

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

This is arrogance on so many levels!!

The insult against people of color is obvious, but he also insults those who work in jobs that he obviously considers menial. All work done faithfully, diligently and legally is honorable.

Doug:

I don't really mind Dean saying what he said. He's got a right to be candid. But the fact remains is that he is now the head of a powerful and important political body, representing millions of Americans. No politician in his right mind would say such a thing as that. But I guess Dean doesn't consider himself a politician anymore. He's merely a firestarter who respects the organizational abilities Republicans, yet hates us to the very core.

I hope that more and more people who call themselves Democrats will begin to recognize that their party leaders are not doing a good job representing them.

The arrogance of Howard Dean is completely old hat by now. Although, I have to admit, he still has the capacity to astound me with little nuggets of joy like that pile or verbage.

I think it was Tim Blair who pointed out that there are more "people of color" currently serving as Secretary of State than Dean managed to appoint to high office in twelve years as governor of Vermont.

And Dean's been DNC chair for... let's see... about five days now? We'd better make the most of this while we can, Rethugs. I predict his tenure is going to be colorful but brief.

Its a victimhood. They're so used to it that when Dean says it, its a compliment?

I'm just talking out of my ass, I'm confused too.

It depends on where in America you are. Here in southern/central california, Hispanics DO work the majority of the low level jobs, but maybe in large portions of the south, central america, maybe it is african americans or maybe even whites.

How does he insult menial labor? Anyway, very slick Kevin, conveniently leaving out the part about the audience laughing. Here is the quote, which you can read through the link.

"You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room?,'' Dean asked to laughter. ``Only if they had the hotel staff in here.''

Oh, was that an accident? Didn't think so.

Wow.
My father is the most loyal democrat ever and, he and I have not always seen eye to eye but, I think we will agree about Mr. Dean's comment. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that Mr. Dean is a fine example of the democratic party today in respect to the way they feel about "people of color" versus the, shall we say, colorless.
