"OK, so maybe I gave a couple of handjobs - but hey, everyone deserves a little recognition after acing the biology test. There was never any sexual intent, of course."

I don't know enough of the facts to comment and I don't know what the answer is, because real life
pedophiles and perverts have ruined it for everyone, but it is rather sad that the forces of political correctness have swung so far in the other direction that teachers, male and female, and even with very young students are afraid to touch their students in any way shape or form precisely because they are terrified of being accused of molestation. [Hey we have parents getting reported for possession of child porn because the one hour photo lab finds the naked kids in the bathtub photos - I mean please the naked kids in the bathtub photos is just a classic, our parents would put three of us in at time, we got the photographic proof, efficient use of water resources and it was a great way to get your back scrubbed, but I disgress.]
Sometimes a kid needs a hug or a reassuring gesture from an adult and sometimes teachers are the only constant adult in a kids life or the only adult a kid trusts.
Innocence lost indeed.

I had Mr Ostrin during my freshman year at Brooklyn Tech and I can only say that he is the most inspirational and dedicated teacher that I have ever been fortunate enough to have had. I was unmotivated in all other classes (I do not say this proudly, but matter of factly) except his. I WANTED to be in his classroom because his teaching was so dynamic, and structured yet flowed with ease. He had the day's itinerary set and hardly ever strayed from it, ensuring consistency and yet allowed time to encourage discussion in the classroom. He is a high caliber, first-rate teacher and I am sad to see this happening to him. Many actions these days can be misconstrued and it is just a shame that it is happening to someone who has proved that caring for students garners great respect and loyalty. Perhaps it looks bad in people's eyes that he is openly admitting to physical contact with his students, male and female alike, but this is the type of person that Mr. Ostrin is: honest, straight forward, and caring. I miss him, and have never encountered another teacher who made me love school as he did.

I HAD MR. OSTRIN LAST TERM. HE IS MY FAVORITE TEACHER IN THE WORLD. HE HAS NEVER TRIED ANYTHING DIRTY OR SEXUAL WITH ME. THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS DEPEND ON HIS FOR HELP WITH REVEIWS AND RECCOMENDATIONS. DURING THE HALF A YEAR THTAT I HAD HIM, MR. OSTRIN TAUGHT ME TO LOVE WORLD HISTORY AND GLOBAL. HE RECCOMENDED ME FRO AN AMAZING PROGRAM FOR WHICH I WILL BE THKANFUL MY WHOLE LIFE BECAUSE IT MADE ME REALIZE MY DIRECTION IN LIFE. HE TAUGHT HIS STUDENTS EVERYTHING, GAVE THEM HIS HEART DURING EVERY 45 MINUTES OR EVERY DAY. HE WAS BY FAR THE SMARTEST AND MOST RESPECTFUL MAN I KNOW, AND I LOVE HIM AS A TEACHER, AS A FRIEND, AND AS A FATHER-FIGURE. I HOPE THAT I ENCOUNTER MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM DURING MY LIFE, BECAUSE IT I PEOPLE LIKE MR. OSTRIN WHO MAKE KIDS LOVE SCHOOL, AND JUST OVERALL MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.
