Michael J. Totten reports from Lebanon that the Cedar Revolution achieved another, final, victory. The Lebanese government formally announced the election will be held on time - on May 29th 2005.
The million-person demonstration, the two-month sleep-in at the tent-city, the countdown campaign, the village campaign, the media pressure, the international pressure - it all came together. It's a new era in Lebanon now. The time of post-war occupation and oppression is over. The Cedar Revolution is now over, too. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to a Wizbang favorite, but alas this time for picture is over now too......When I first arrived in Lebanon all the tent-city activists I spoke to said they thought the chances that the election would be held on time were near zero. They were wrong. Barring any last-minute shenanigans, the election will in fact be held on time.
So the tent-city movement is finished. Their objectives have been achieved. It is time to take down the camp.

I vote that you retain her pic. Keep her as a poster child for simular events around the world. Oh hell, just keep the pic and pop it up once a month for no reason.. :-)~

Chalk one up for democracy winning. I'll be impressed if it holds up though.
Sorry to see her go. But there'll be others, Kevin always finds them :P

No need to be rash. They are having an election on May 29th, and surely there are some upcoming Lebanese national holidays that would warrant a revisit.

She looks old enough to vote. Can't they just assign a stringer to follow her around for another month? Human interest story, right?
*sigh*
MSM fails us again.

My local newspaper in Dothan, Alabama, showed a picture of a woman beating the face of a caricature of George Bush (horns and all) with a shoe in conjunction with the Lebanon story. No link to why she was doing that, nor who she was, in the article.
Headline for the article was "Lebanese government removes top pro-Syrian Prosecutor." Article was written by Sam Ghattas, for AP.
As Gomer Pyle would say, "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise."
How did I know the AP would insert a totally irrelevant picture into the article, and NEVER mention it in the article? Because that is what they do for effect (a picture is worth a thousand words.)
I'm about sick of this MSM bullshit.
