I really -- I mean, REALLY -- dread and regret what some of Austin has become.
I suppose it's an inevitable cosequence to having a popular university there (University of Austin) but even that, having known many conservatives who attended/graduated (taught and/or were Regents and/or benefactors otherwise) from UT, it's not characteristically a nutty place. It's just that the last ten years or so, a lot of nuts congregate in Austin to avoid (I think their reasoning goes) the fact that they are in TEXAS.
Just wait, change will come.
Austin's a great town (city if you aren't from Texas) and that part of Texas will always be a creative place, home to a certain interest (the lake, the river, the springs, the stars at night, and far more) but it isn't a San Francisco or a Seattle. And should never try to emulate either or worse, both.
But it's lately become attractive to a certain higher number of the left, like asshole crazed Raj. Give it more time, UT (and Austin) will return to it's/their senses.

Mouse, Raj stikes me as an Indian name. I'm speculating, and definately could be way off base, but guessing that his parents are probably respectful, conservative, nose to the grindstone small business type immigrants that sacrficed and saved so that their offspring, now a certifiable public asshat, could go to college and continue the American dream.
I want to believe in my heart that they are planning to submerge themselves as a cleansing ritual in the Ganges and ridding their refrigerator of all vestiges of American processed food in the hope reversing their their bad karma.
